The Ho Chi Minh City AVSE-TESOL program is a good program to enroll in if you are interested in teaching ESL around the world. The program provides you the skills, resources and practice needed to be a great ESL teacher wherever you chose to go.

Andrew is an amazing instructor with years of experience to guide and assist students with everything needed to be their very best. Coming in with no teaching experience isn’t an issue as by the end of the program, anyone can become competent enough to teach ESL at an impressive level.

AVSE is the best TESOL institute in Vietnam and Cambodia. The quality of education and support they provide is exemplary and good enough to turn a newbie to a full fledged teacher.

Since it is highly reputed and well connected with schools and language centres, their placement is competitive and satisfactory.

I’d definitely recommend AVSE to anyone looking out for being TESOL certified and beginning their career as an ESL teacher.

I had done an online TEFL course a few years prior to enrolling with AVSE but I felt i needed more training before i could feel comfortable leading a class of students.

The TESOL course was everything and more than i could have expected in terms of preparing you and giving you the confidence to be a teacher. The course structure was well thought out and comprehensive, covering all the main areas of teaching and Terry and the team were there for support every step of the way. There was a good balance of theoretical and practical training in particular the practical element where we were given the opportunity to present in front of a classroom from week 2.

The progress I felt i made from day 1 until the last day of the course was remarkable considering the course was only a month long. The major reason for this i believe was the teacher Terry who engaged us all from day 1 and made the course very fun and interesting every step of the way.

There’s no better course available to set you up for a career as TEFL teacher!

I completed my AVSE TESOL training in November 2019 in Hanoi. The course was very thorough, enjoyable and upon it’s completion I felt immediately ready to start teaching. I was particularly impressed with the structure and pacing of the course. The course instructor Terry was very experienced, supportive and knowledgeable and always went the extra mile to help us with any problems we may have had as did Evie, the course administrator.

I would definitely recommend AVSE for anyone wanting to teach ESL in Asia. It is great way to prepare yourself for teaching in Asian classrooms and also a great way to meet like minded people and develop lasting friendships.

The AVSE-TESOL course in Hanoi, Vietnam was one of the more expensive courses that I looked at. For someone like me, moving to Vietnam from my home country, the course structure gave me an opportunity to settle into a new city with the support of classmates and AVSE staff. The housing was less than one block from the class site, and exceeded expectations for temporary living.

The course starts with the very basics. The first week sets up the framework for how lessons should be structured, what to expect from your practice lessons, and how to get the most of the course. After week 1, the course picks up speed with writing assignments, lesson planning, and practice teaching. The coursework was challenging, but I believe it made me a much better teacher.

The two staff on-site (Terry and Evie) were absolutely great in every aspect. They made us feel comfortable even when we struggled. They were happy to help at all hours of the day. They were quick with suggestions for getting settled, navigating cultural differences, and any issues that popped up. I had an issue with documents being sent from the US to Vietnam, which got held up in customs. Evie was a life-saver and helped me sort out the situation and translate every step of the way. Terry gave great feedback, and never held back. He cares about making you a solid, professional teacher. The course would not have been the same without Terry and Evie.

My only issue with the course was through the job search. We were asked to write down our job preferences. It was clear that I wanted to work in a school. I received many emails from centers and evening programs that had received my CV. I had to reach out to AVSE to ask them to stop sending my CV to programs that didn’t meet my criteria. I eventually found a job with a great school, and I believe my TESOL course prepared me well for the interview and job requirements.

Having seen first-hand a great number of prospective teachers come to Vietnam with nothing but a cheap online TEFL in their bag only to face poor pay and even poorer treatment, I’m indescribably grateful for the experience AVSE offered me.

Beyond the incredible, immersive training I received in Hanoi from Terry Smith, AVSE makes sure to assist and empower new teachers at every step of the way. From providing accommodation, to imparting a thorough understanding of local culture, to setting you up in direct contact with local, bona fide employers, AVSE provides an invaluable service to any who want to start a new career in ESL teaching.

Before I’d even finished the course, I had already landed a full-time position with one of the most esteemed and well-paying ESL companies in Vietnam. From there, the skills I acquired through my training at AVSE propelled me to the top position at the English center in which I was located. This is a course for teachers who not only want to teach, but want to excel at teaching.

All in all, I can’t recommend AVSE enough. One year later, I still often reflect on the experiences and friendships I acquired through my course, and draw upon the skills I learned.

This TESOL course was extremely useful and I absolutely loved the classroom setting paired with in- person teaching experience. The staff is helpful with all aspects of the experience- housing, culture, the course and more. I loved it and would highly recommend to anyone who loves traveling and teaching children!

Nothing could have prepared me better for the world of ESL teaching.

In the 4 weeks with AVSE I was able to build up my confidence and 100% improve my skills. The practical sessions cover all age groups which allows you to get a very good feel for the real world.

The trainers have years of experience in the field and they are very helpful and supportive. Completing your TESOL through AVSE means you will always be part of their community and this helps so much with networking in Vietnam.

The fact that I made friends for life is just an added extra.

I highly recommend AVSE, especially for someone coming to Vietnam alone.

Accommodation is covered for the duration of the course which means you have absolutely nothing to worry about when arriving and you can focus on the course and finding your feet in the big city.

The Hanoi AVSE-TESEL program is a great resource for anyone looking to get involved with teaching ESL around the world. Terry is an amazing instructor with years of experience to guide everyone through the ins and outs of what goes into the role.
