I’m a former flight attendant that was made redundant due to Covid pandemic. I needed to find a new career and that decision led me to a new path to become an English teacher.

I chose Thailand to do my retraining as I wanted to work there and gain some initial experience so eventually I could teach anywhere in the world.

So I packed my bags and moved half way around the world.

I chose Vantage as its Thailand’s top rated TEFL. I was looking for a program that had innovative teaching methods and an interactive learning style.

I made the right choice as Vantage more than delivered. Particularly in my practice teaching sessions, I had a lot of guidance great feedback that made a better teacher the next time I taught.

Vantage’s trainers always went the extra mile for me to ensure I was developing the teaching skills I will need in the classroom. They made me feel that I was part of greater community of educators.

If like me, you’re looking to start your working life over, Vantage are the people to talk to.

I’ve since been wanting to enroll in a TEFL Certification course and have been reading up about quite a number of schools until I came across Vantage TEFL. I reached out to them through email to request more information and address some of my concerns given this pandemic. I got a reply from Kevin (Vantage’s Course Director) within 24 hours and he has been very patient in attending to all my queries. He’s also always making sure to make himself available for things that are best discussed over a call.

My initial preference is to attend the full onsite class. But because of all the uncertainties happening due to covid, he advised me to take the combined course so that I can get through the course much sooner. Vantage has partnered with ITTT (another world leader in providing TEFL Certification) for the online portion of the course, while the 6 observed teaching practices are carried out by Vantage. I like the online course as it is very concise, direct to the point, and clearly presented. It was a very good experience relearning what I have learned years ago. What I enjoyed the most is the actual teaching practices with Thai students. Chris (Vantage’s Director of Training), has been very patient in working with me in doing up my lesson plans. During the actual teaching demos, Chris and Kevin took turns in observing my classes and they have both been very great in providing valuable and insightful feedback.

Now that I’ve completed the course, I’m very happy to have chosen Vantage. Kevin and Chris were nothing but helpful, accommodating, and professional. I will certainly recommend Vantage to any of my friends who wish to get a TEFL Certification.

I came to the TEFL certification course with few concerns. I was not 100% sure I needed to even do a TEFL. But as my business is a consultant to the Thai education sector, I sometimes need to supervise teachers for my clients. So I really wanted to know what makes a good t—what they do and how they do it.

After my first day, I knew I was in the right place. Everyone was more than welcoming and we drove straight in the course material. I knew that I made the right decision to get TEFL trained.

Vantage run small class sizes and that meant I got a ton of personal attention—right through the entire course. Vantage goes into a lot of depth with the course material and their lead trainer added a lot of personal insight from his 30+ years in the Thai education sector. He’s an absolutely amazing instructor.

The observed teaching practices were one of the highlights of the course. Vantage say that new teachers are born in the classroom and now I understand way. It’s one thing learning the teaching theory. It’s very different indeed putting it all into action. This is where the knowledge from the course became the teaching skills I can now use as I assess and place new teachers in Thai schools.

I do some private teaching and already my current students have told me they’ve notice a big change in what I’m doing—and they like it! I know have a comprehensive path that I’ve incorporated into my lesson plans. I’ve seen a big jump in my confidence levels..

The whole Vantage team is super helpful. They want to see you succeed. I highly recommend taking the TEFL certification course with Vantage

I joined Vantage’s TEFL course on the 5th of February 2020, and since there was an ongoing pandemic, there was only one other student. The only thing I can say is that I wish it lasted more than just 120 hours! The content was very in-depth, and Chris, the instructor, was very good at mixing book knowledge with his own experiences to create a course that was both intensive and always interesting. I’ve worked in the aviation industry for almost 10 years, half of which was spent as an instructor, and even the first few classes opened my eyes to the various teaching skills and techniques that are taught through the ESA methodology. Make no mistake, it isn’t an easy course that you can just cruise through as a side gig. The work can be hectic, and the content can be confusing at times (looking at you grammar!), but I definitely felt myself getting better and more knowledgeable after each class. A class size of 2 was perfect because it allowed us to have in-depth and detailed discussions with Chris and Kevin (the course coordinator) about anything we learned. It’s safe to say that more than half of what I got out of the course came from those discussions, so if you’re considering taking just the online video course, I really urge you to reconsider. The things I got from those discussions weigh heavier than any of the book content. Vantage doesn’t train you to work as an English teacher: they train you to BE an English teacher.

P.S I left one star out of the facilities because there was quite a hefty fee for parking, but shouldn’t be a problem if you take the BTS

Due to the pandemic, I signed up for the virtual vantage course since I was not able to be in Thailand. I must add that I don’t have any teaching background and this sector is completely new to me. The virtual vantage course is divided into two parts: theory and practice.

The theory aspect of the course is delivered by ITTT which is another big name in the TEFL industry. There are 20 units which are all clear and relevant. I found each unit very interesting and while some can be seen as common knowledge, I learnt a lot from them. I cannot compare with an in-class teaching but I can confirm that all the information in these units are sufficient to be able to create your own lessons and to teach with the proper methodology. ITTT gives you 6 months to finish the theory and it is plenty of time. I didn’t have any pressure and I finished it at my own pace (3 months). The online course gave me the flexibility to learn new skills while I am still able to commit to my daily obligations. I also appreciated that they provide many resources that we can use to create future lessons which is a big plus for somebody like me who is completely new to teaching. ITTT also offer the option to contact (via email only) a tutor whenever you want if you have any questions. I did not use this option very often because I think that the units were very well explained. However, I must say the only times I contacted a tutor, I was fairly disappointed with their answers. If I pay for a service, I would expect a bit more than ‘the answer is in the unit’… Therefore, I would take this option to contact a tutor as what it is…an option. The course itself is more than enough.

The practice side is delivered by Vantage and I must admit, I really enjoyed that part of the course. I had to teach 6 different classes of 1h each. I had the opportunity to do 1 to 1 lesson as well as group class. Kevin and Chris were amazing, they help me and advise me at every stage of the process from creating the lesson to delivering the lesson to a class. Thanks to their advices and recommendations, I gain more confidence in myself and they shattered some doubts that I had. After each class, they provided feedback which help me to improve for the next lesson. I believe this part of the course was very useful and important because you get to experience what it feels like to be in front of a group of students. Again, this experience gave me more confidence and this will definitely be an asset whenever it will be time to apply for jobs.

Finally, I was pleasantly surprised that not only Vantage guide you throughout the whole practice, they also provide valuable resources and advice to help you for your future job hunting. This clearly show that Vantage really care about its students.

I attended several courses and trainings before, but I would say that my experience at Vantage is by far the best I ever had.

The four-week in-person TEFL training that I completed at Vantage is intensive and challenging, but I looked forward to going to class every day.

Kevin, Chris, and Ryan are not just topnotch trainers, they are true professionals driven to make their trainees achieve.

Chris is always focused and well-prepared, from the way he carries himself to how he delivers his lessons. Disciplined and deliberate, he makes everything easy to understand, recall, and use.

Ryan teaches Thai culture and language in a way that is meaningful and relevant, and helpful to students learning a foreign language.

Kevin gives unparalleled support with resume writing, interviewing skills, and real-time coaching.

To top it all, their service doesn’t end with the course. They are there to help all the way through job placement and actual employment.

Vantage gave me not only the knowledge and skills I need to be a good teacher, but also the confidence to be an effective one. They did this by letting me teach college students and very young learners as well. I came into this course unsure of my ability to teach, but came out pretty confident that I can.

I highly recommend Vantage to anyone considering a TEFL career. I’m certain they won’t disappoint.

I had been searching for a potential TEFL course in Bangkok for a while, and I was not disappointed by my choice to go with Vantage.

I completed the Combined Course, where I did all my coursework online, and my teaching practice in schools in Bangkok. The online course is very organized and well laid out. There are 20 units, and a test at the end of each unit. Each unit took me approximately 30-60 minutes to read through and digest, some a bit longer. There are videos that go along with each unit, and to watch those adds another 25-35 minutes per unit. The tests are not overly difficult, but you do need to understand the content well in order to do well on the tests. If you have not studied grammar since grade school, they may prove to be the more difficult units, but nothing that can’t be re-learned. After completing all the units, there is a summative essay (suggested topics are provided), requiring 500 – 1000 words.

The in-class teaching practice was easy to organize with Vantage. We decided on the dates, and the level/ages of the class was shared with me in order to prepare my lesson plans. I received almost immediate feedback and assistance on my lesson plans when I emailed them, and felt comfortable and ready to teach the class. After the teachings, I received thorough and valuable feedback from both the Vantage teachers.

I was placed immediately with a highly regarded school in Bangkok and am really enjoying it. Vantage will also share with you a lot of content on lesson planning, potential activities, tips and tricks, all that you can use in your future teaching career.

I highly recommend this TEFL course for anyone in the world (if you complete the online only course, you can complete your teaching practices through Zoom).

Through my own experience taking the in class TEFL course, which I have just successfully completed, I can highly recommend it.

Like others I went down the road of doing an on line course, I contemplated for weeks, having read reviews from both sides, but have no regrets taking the in class Vantage course. The course is intense at times but gives you a great insight into teaching, planning, methodology and classroom management.

The practical teaching is invaluable, I did 8 live practice teaching lessons from young children to older students, although hesitant and nervous at first, I found the whole experience enjoyable and have taken away invaluable knowledge to help me kick start on to a career path in teaching, i am also looking forward to teaching any age with great confidence.

I would highly recommend anyone considering to take an in class course to contact Vantage where there commitment and dedication to teach prospective teachers is first class.

While living in Thailand during the pandemic, I had to think about reinventing my future, as my career in the entertainment business had been pretty much wiped out over night.

After spending four or five months hanging around the beach – great fun, no regrets! – I knew the time had come to take more proactive steps to rebuilding a new career.

The single best move I made was to sign up for the Vantage ESL teaching course in Bangkok. It was a life-changing decision.

The four week long course of intensive training reigniting my brain again. Our instructor Chris is one of the finest English language teachers in Thailand with an uncompromising attention to detail.

The practical lessons also make this course so special. Theory and grammar is all very useful – indeed essential – but Vantage will also show you how to put it into practice and this is the key to success of the course. We gave real-life lessons in schools, to various ages and abilities, and it was there that our new-found skills really came alive.

Once the course finishes, Kevin will help you with any future career questions. His guidance in job searches, resume writing and interview techniques is of great value.

(His ‘Power Resume’ is a thing of beauty!)

This is a five star course which gave me a whole new lease of life and signing up it for it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

And in addition, I also made some great new friends….

I have recently finished my Vantage in class 120 hour TEFL course, and to put it simple if you want to become a GOOD teacher , this course with Chris and Kevin is without doubt an invaluable asset that I would highly recommend.

I’m a 54 year old Canadian ex pat now living in Thailand for 30 years. Due to Covid effecting my main business I needed means to another income and teaching English here seemed a realistic possibility , but having never taught and not knowing how to start I found Vantage and couldn’t have been more happy that I did.

In just one month , I learned from 2 professionals with a world of experience , what it takes and what is needed to become a “good” teacher. I gained confidence with each lesson I taught, and was guided and directed to be comfortable and confident each additional lesson.

I’ve been taught methodologies how to teach that makes it fun for both the student and teacher , that enable the student to be able to ultimately be using English to speak and converse.

The course ends but the help doesn’t . Chris and Kevin cater to what age, level, school, you might like to teach and guide you to several opportunities of interest.

I now have the confidence to apply and knowledge to know I can apply for and start a teaching job that appeals to me.
