Description
Vantage was established in 2007 and is Thailand’s highest rated TEFL program.
They offer a 120-hour, in-class TEFL course with 6 hours of observed teaching practice in Thai schools.
They also offer Virtual Vantage– designed for training in an era of social distancing. This program combines online coursebook study with live streamed observed teaching practices in online classes. It’s a full TEFL course with a practicum done from the safely of your home.
Vantage provides expert job support. They’ll craft your own Power Resume that make an impact in the six seconds hiring authorities typically spend reading them. They’ll coach you on interviewing techniques, handling objections, and job search strategies.
Vantage have agreements with innovative English education provider agencies that place hundreds of teachers in Thai schools every year.
Vantage run small class sizes so they can give personalized attention both to individual teacher development and the subsequent job search. You can read their review in the definitive book, “Teaching in Thailand– A Practical System.”
Vantage graduates are successfully teaching English throughout Thailand, in Asia, China and around the world.
I recently retired from a government Overseas job that entailed a significant amount of public speaking and outreach, and wanted to shift into teaching English overseas. However, I had no formal teaching experience or training. Based upon a friend’s experience and online reviews, I chose Vantage. I cannot overstate the quality of the program and support; this is an impressive program, and definitely not for those that are just looking for a piece of paper. My self-confidence grew dramatically as I went through the program, and I had a solid job offer by the time I finished.
Pre-COVID, at the suggestion of Kevin, I signed up for their Combined Course, which allowed me to access their materials for self study, followed by a month at their Bangkok location. Unfortunately, COVID put a halt to the Bangkok training, so Kevin graciously offered to switch me into their new Virtual Vantage program, allowing me to get practical teaching experience via Zoom.
Kevin and Chris went the extra mile to provide practical training, advice, and addressing the many concerns that I had as a student. Despite working overseas and being multilingual myself, the tools provided by Vantage has allowed me to put those talents to good use. They directly monitored every class I taught, had me provide a self-evaluation of each class, and followed up with a one on one Zoom conference to discuss strengths and areas for improvement. Teaching a group online is definitely more challenging than being in a classroom—if you can succeed in online teaching, you definitely will excel at classroom teaching.
Last but not least is the continuing support from Vantage. Be it the job search program, providing references, or having access to Vantage’s extensive learning resources, completing one of their programs is just the beginning of the relationship, not the end.
