I recently retired from a government Overseas job that entailed a significant amount of public speaking and outreach, and wanted to shift into teaching English overseas. However, I had no formal teaching experience or training. Based upon a friend’s experience and online reviews, I chose Vantage. I cannot overstate the quality of the program and support; this is an impressive program, and definitely not for those that are just looking for a piece of paper. My self-confidence grew dramatically as I went through the program, and I had a solid job offer by the time I finished.

Pre-COVID, at the suggestion of Kevin, I signed up for their Combined Course, which allowed me to access their materials for self study, followed by a month at their Bangkok location. Unfortunately, COVID put a halt to the Bangkok training, so Kevin graciously offered to switch me into their new Virtual Vantage program, allowing me to get practical teaching experience via Zoom.

Kevin and Chris went the extra mile to provide practical training, advice, and addressing the many concerns that I had as a student. Despite working overseas and being multilingual myself, the tools provided by Vantage has allowed me to put those talents to good use. They directly monitored every class I taught, had me provide a self-evaluation of each class, and followed up with a one on one Zoom conference to discuss strengths and areas for improvement. Teaching a group online is definitely more challenging than being in a classroom—if you can succeed in online teaching, you definitely will excel at classroom teaching.

Last but not least is the continuing support from Vantage. Be it the job search program, providing references, or having access to Vantage’s extensive learning resources, completing one of their programs is just the beginning of the relationship, not the end.

I had the most amazing experience taking this course!

I did a fair share of research before committing to this course. I have a background in education and I was pretty skeptical of the Tefl market and pretty particular about the information that I was receiving. This course completely exceeded all of my expectations. Chris the head teacher is a wealth of knowledge about what to teach and how to teach it. Kevin the director is a pro with creating resumes and giving professional advice. They have created an environment that promotes hard work and growing into a successful English teacher. I walked away with confidence and tools for further developing my teaching practice.

I would recommend them again and again to anyone considering a future Tefl career!

This course was outstanding!

Even though I have previous teaching experience, there were a lot of new techniques I learned during this course that opened my eyes. During the first week I was introduced to the ESA methodology that can me a whole new framework on how to prepare a class lesson.

Before when I taught my private classes, I would just follow a course book. Now I have a whole new way of structuring my classes so my students get much more speaking practice and learn more from their lessons.

We first worked in a traditional classroom with young Thai students. We got great feedback after each class which we would put into practice in our next class. I felt I got better with each class.

Vantage really prepared us for all kinds of teaching. We also taught college aged students online. A lot of what I learned in the classroom was valuable for online teaching. But I had to also learn new techniques for internet teaching and I had to prepare excesses and activities would be most effective in an online platform. Not everything that works in a classroom can be done well online.

This program included a foreign language component where I took the role of a student which was also very valuable! We also covered cultural issues—the do’s and don’ts of what you can do in a Thailand classroom.

My class finished on a Friday and the following week I was working with them on developing my resume, job support and formulating a personalize job strategy.

Vantage will go the extra mile to ensure you’re getting started in a good job with a reputable school.

I would heartily recommend Vantage to anyone interested in a teaching career overseas.

I have just completed TEFL course at Vantage and Siam in Thailand and it was such an amazing experience. This was my first time taking a course to language teaching and I got anxious because of the doubt I have on my teaching ability. This course, however, lessens the anxiety and boost my confidence level!!! For anyone who wishes to start their career as a language teacher, I highly recommend the TEFL course. It covers the concepts and bucket lists of being a language teacher which are practical, effective, memorable and implantable. Though, we have covered all of them within one month, it felt like only a week has passed by! I feel like we could gave more them what they have learned more insincerity…. Well, there is…

My choices for getting my TEFL qualification were either online or an In-Class course at a brick and mortar school. After researching and checking out the internet I finally decided on a school because I wanted the experience and advantages that only a live tutor could give.

Further research led me to Vantage. I was not disappointed!

Our tutor Chris had a lot of knowledge to share given his two plus decades of teaching in Thai classrooms. He was able to explain things in a clear way that you could not get from an online course.

His white board explanations made it all so much easier to understand—again something you cannot get from an online course. Not having to wait for answers was priceless. He enjoys a joke but has that happy professional attitude that made the course enjoyable.

Our practice lessons at a local nursing college was invaluable and another great experience, allowing us to put into practice the teaching theories and methodologies we had learnt. This is where we learnt to teach.

Unfortunately, our TEFL course in the classroom was cut short by the arrival of the

Corona virus.

To Vantages credit they were very flexible and highly creative and were able to change over to live video classes using Zoom so I still had the personal teaching that I had signed up for.

From Chris to course director Kevin and Ryan, our Thai culture and language instructor, nothing was too much trouble for the Vantage team.

I’m very happy to be able to recommend this school to anyone looking for a TEFL course or to improve their English skills.

Intensive Training!

I was browsing online for courses way back January 2020, as I was checking, Vantage came across in my searches options. At first, I don’t have any idea what they offer and what they do and what benefits of learning I can get from them but as I was reading along with their objectives, all great options of learning as an English teacher gave me an idea to give this course a try!

It was not easy for me to make it happen to attend in this course regarding of my struggle from processing my papers to fly to Thailand and believe it or not but I tried twice. That was last February which I was offloaded for providing incomplete documents .Things are possible, giving up that easy is not an option so I contacted Kevin, one of the managing director of vantage to help me with my papers, he was extremely helpful. I did my second try to attend the course for March and Yes, I made it!

As a trainee, teaching at the nursing college for the first time was a great experience which builds my confidence and knowledge for teaching! We consider our batch “COVID-19 class, as the wake of corona virus outbreak affects us, we have to stop halfway and joined online classes via ZOOM platform which we quickly adapted to. It allows us to continue studying and make progress with our training.

My 120-hour TEFL training at Vantage was intensive and very comprehensive training, keeps me pretty busy for doing lots of things all throughout the course unit. Our instructor Chris supplemented us best ideas and strategies in his own expertise. He is very flexible and knowledgeable in building momentum for the whole class to attained great learning of experience. I would like to extend my great appreciation to Chris, Kevin and Ryan for all your help, one of the best staff and role model of great trainer for the course.

I definitely recommend them to everyone!

I had been teaching in China for over twelve months but realised that I needed to improve my teaching skills. After a lot of research online, I came across the Vantage TEFL school located in Bangkok. The training centre came with excellent recommendations as I also wanted to make some good network connections.

From day one of the course, I felt comfortable, and the camaraderie between all trainees and our trainer Chris was very high. Chris has a unique way with his method of training that put everyone at ease and ensure that our confidence never waned.

The six hours of observed teaching at a nursing college was a fantastic experience. To be able to put into practice our newly taught skills and learn from our mistakes was invaluable.

Sadly, I had to leave Bangkok early due to the coronavirus before completing the course in-house. Thanks to Kevin and Chris for assisting us in completing the course by way of using Zoom conferencing.

I believe we have also made some good friends with Vantage but also the other trainees. The networking has already begun with trainees exchanging ideas since the course has finished.

The course is intense and comprehensive. The method of delivery, however, engages the trainee from day one to the course end. The entire team at Vantage, overseen by Kevin, show that they really enjoy their work and are always there to encourage all trainees. Vantage will always be there to assist us as we go into our newly chosen professions with our recently gained knowledge.

I was vacationing in Bangkok in 2019 when I decided I wanted to work and live here. I looked for TEFL schools in the area and decided to pay Vantage a visit. I liked the idea of having a brick-and-mortar school that I could walk in to as opposed to an online school. I happened to visit Vantage on an off week, so I was able to sit down and talk with Kevin and Chris for over an hour. They even allowed me to tour the facility and they answered all my questions. Fast forward 3 months, I was back in Bangkok and starting the 30-day TEFL course at Vantage.

The course was intensive, but it was never boring. You will stay busy for the month you are here, but it is never overly stressful or demanding. The live teaching sessions are invaluable, especially for someone who has never taught a class before, but I really enjoyed the experience as well.

The course is comprehensive and covers every aspect of teaching English in a foreign country that you can imagine. Vantage does an excellent job at preparing you for a career in teaching EFL and I would recommend them to everyone.

Learning gives you not only knowledge but also confidence and friends.

I have just completed the Vantage TEFL 120 hours course in Bangkok, Thailand. I have to be honest, when I start this course, I felt a bit nervous. My first language is not English and I lack confidence to talk. However, when I meet with my friends, Chris and Kevin my nervous weny away. They helped me a lot.

Our Trainer, Chris shared methodology, lesson plans, phonology and much more; not only from the course book but also from his experiences. We had to do practices teaching at nursing collage. The nurses are sweet, polite and respectful. The first lesson of teaching practice in nursing class was quite challenging for me. I have some teaching experiences in early childhood but not teaching young learner or adult. Chris was always there to give us positive encouragement. He always pointed out the best ways in teaching. Ryan told about Thai language, Thai culture and do and don’t in Thai class.

Half way through the course, Covid-19 made some of my friends have to return to their countries or their workplace and we couldn’t study as a group but that didn’t stop our learning. We completed the course using Zoom.

Kevin also helped with resume writing, interview and thank you notes. He was always ready to help.

Thank you for all of your help and knowledge and experiences.

Gave Me A Strong Foundation & Motivated Me To Be A Great Teacher

I just finished my 120-hour, in-person TEFL training at Vantage. I couldn’t be happier with the experience.

Well, I could be a bit happier because we were the “Covid-19 class”. Regardless, this was obviously no one’s fault and not an ideal time for anyone anywhere.

Bangkok shutdown a little more than halfway through the course, so everything changed. In spite of the challenges, the team at Vantage made the best of a tough situation. With creativity and perseverance, we completed the course on schedule by using Zoom when the city forced the school to close. Kevin & Chris could not have done a better job.

Our instruction was outstanding because the lead trainer, Chris, supplemented the course books with a great deal of his own work experience and knowledge. His teaching style is the perfect model to emulate. He presents the way he teaches students to teach, and therefore, makes an excellent role model.

Even though the course was 6-8 hours/day and more intensive & demanding than I anticipated, it was never difficult, boring, or exhausting. Chris kept us engaged the whole time, and the camaraderie and energy in the classroom kept everyone going. The live class scenario is the ideal learning environment if you are able to stay in Bangkok and do it.

In addition to Chris’ charisma as a trainer, another reason to take the course live in person is the student-teacher opportunity Vantage provides. In order to earn the certificate, one must teach 6 hours of observed student-teaching at a nursing college in Bangkok. This was a very rewarding experience because we got to try out everything we learned about lesson planning, presenting, and organizing suitable classroom materials. The nurses are very sweet and attentive, so they make the perfect audience for brand new or experienced teachers to teach English as a second language.

I’d been teaching in a Thai high school for one year before doing the training; I had some other English teaching experience too. Previously, I had always been winging it, though, because I was just learning online about how to teach English and improvising as I went.

Earning my 120-hour, in-person TEFL from Vantage was an excellent decision because they taught me the latest, most successful teaching methodology. Now, I have a foundation I can rely on to plan lessons that are engaging, and help students truly learn English well.

I’m motivated to go back to my school for another year with a lot more knowledge, confidence, and a variety of activities and know-how to put to use right away.

I’m pleased with Kevin’s resume and interviewing modules and on going job support as well. I know I can always turn to him and Chris for guidance and support when applying for higher paying jobs in Thailand in future.
