120 hours in Vantage was a complete program. It was a comprehensive learning and teaching with more than 99 percent success rate. I would suggest that teaching practice should be done in schools, mixed adult groups , colleges and universities.

Class management should be done after completing teaching practice to enhance experiences to class management.

I never write reviews online. This is probably the first I’ve done in many, many years. But I’m writing this one because the school’s CEO, Kevin, and lead instructor, Chris, did a really outstanding job in taking me through the TEFL learning process to gradution.

I was in a position where I needed to be out of the country for a visa run at the time i wanted to start a TEFL course, and that is where Vantage really shined. There is an option for a “Combined” course that allows online study, which you then couple with the “practicum” part of the course which involved in-person teaching in front of real classees. Perfect in my situation.

I enrolled, and worked my way through the 20 lessons of the online course quickly. I was on a visa run in Cambodia, so I hunkered down in a coffee shop every day and worked my way through the online work in about 2 weeks – a bit faster than the pace of the in-person courses. Then, when I returned to Bangkok, Kevin and Chris were very gracious and allowed me to sit in with their currently-running class, which served as great review. This online/in person hybrid seems ideal if you are comfortable with independent study.

The main difference between online and in-person was that each unit online required an online multiple-choice test, whereas the in-person had three tests toward the end of the course. I would be comfortable suggesting either approach, as I was able to near-ace all the online tests and then do the same on the in-class tests — although, to be clear, as a “combined” course completer before stepping in the classroom, I was not required to do the in-class tests, though I did for review.

A real highlight for me was the actual teaching sessions. I wanted to be sure to have that experience, and that’s why I opted against the few “online only” TEFL courses I was able to find on google. I just couldn’t imagine that anyone would hire me if I had absolutely never stood in front of students, despite working in other fields for year and being a native English speaker. We prepared lessons and taught in front of grade school kids (3-4th grade) and nursing school students (high-school and above age). With the feedback from Chris, Kevin and Ryan at Vantage, I came out knowledgeble and confident to begin teaching.

A quick word about some extra preparation work on resumes and interviewing from Kevin. I’ve had decades of work experience and have landed many jobs with my current resume strategy, but Kevin’s take on making resumes and applying for jobs really helped me do a total re-think of how I will do things going forward, both for TEFL jobs and for other jobs. Really outstanding.

Shout-out also to Chris, who has been teaching TEFL for decades and is smart, knowledgable and witty, especially if you like dry, British wit, which even as an American, I do. He’s a great instuctor who knows his stuff.

As noted, I really don’t write reviews online. But in the case of Kevin, Chris, Ryan and Vantage, I am making an amazingly rare exception. Without hesitation, I can’t recommend Kevin, Chris and Ryan at Vantage enough.

There is a big difference between what I had expected and what I lived in the 4 valuable weeks of TEFL classroom course with Vantage School. To be honest; the quality of course was obviously more than my expectations in many senses.

Chris who has deep experience in English teaching and training area in Thailand; was open , friendly, clear and nice guide. He presented important language points with sensitive examples. In addition to this, he shared his experiences relevant to teaching while training about how to teach English.

It was an advantage to get in touch with Kevin who has important professional life experience in Thailand and in many countries. He was kind and helpful in many cases even in finding accommodation alternatives at the beginning . I always felt that he was always with us in searching job area.

Ryan was also successful in presenting Thai Language and culture with important examples.

Our teaching practices in the relevant schools were unforgettable. We were observed sensitively and got important feedbacks from Vantage staff which played important role in our improvement.

I congratulate and thank to all staff of Vantage for their important contributions in widening my approach.

I found Vantage by looking at many websites like this to read the reviews of other people, and because of the very high reviews I decided to apply here. My immediate mail contact with Kevin was excellent, he could answer all my questions and helped me find a place to stay in the area. I started the course in Bangkok in the end of June, and I guess this was still a risky time with Covid because I was the only applicant for this round, which was a bit of a shame because I couldn’t compare and learn from other students, but in the end I got a lot of personal attention which was nice. Chris was an excellent teacher, very patient and helpful, and he gave me the extra courage that I needed when I wasn’t sure being an English teacher was right for me. Because of a Covid case the teaching practice in person got cancelled, and I only had my practice lessons online, but it was nice to see this side of teaching as well, I could get very creative with my presentations and assignments. It is an intense 1 month course, and it’s hard work, but if it’s something you really want to do it really is worth it. At the moment I’m still traveling, not ready to settle down yet. But I know as soon as I’m ready I can contact Kevin and he’s willing to help me with everything then, so their help doesn’t stop when the course ends, they will help you anytime. If you want to study in Bangkok, this is definitely the right choice!

While choosing the TEFL course, I did loads of online searching to see which course offers the best teaching experiences to a non-native speaker like me. Then I finalized my decision by choosing Vantage TEFL course which had helped me clear my doubts and insecurities from day one till the end of the course. The teaching practices I had during the course had built me enough confidence to start believing in myself and my capability. Without Kevin, Chris and Ryan’s continuous support, it is impossible for me to go through all those teaching practices.

I am positive that my money was well spent going to Vantage TEFL. I enjoyed my time on the course and learned a lot of things. Thank you Vantage TEFL!

I can’t say enough good things about Vantage.

The instructors make the experience valuable. Chris D is witty, astute and hysterical, with a perfect grasp of the material and the humor to make it accessible. I especially liked the teaching practicums. I acquired hands-on experience across a variety of different classroom situations, and Chris’s feedback provided an honest assessment of my strengths and witnesses by an experienced practitioner.

Ryan’s sessions were highly informative. I learned the basics of Thai culture and the Thai language, both useful as I acclimate to a very different country and language from what I have known.

Kevin’s session surprised me. I thought I knew all there is to know about the topic, but he provided compelling content I hadn’t run across – or even considered – before. Most importantly, Kevin found me a job while I was still in the middle of the course. That alone deserves highlighting, so let me say it again:

***I did not have to look for a job. Kevin and the school found one for me with a good employer before graduation.***

If you are coming to Thailand to teach English, you need to come to Vantage.
