I initially signed up for the in-house course with the company iTTT. I was quite shocked and started to feel sceptical when iTTT handed me over to Kevin from Vantage, as I didn’t know iTTT had partnered with Vantage for the TEFL course in Bangkok. Due to some personal reasons, I had to switch to the combined course, and Kevin has been very helpful in accommodating my request and following up with me. These follow-ups are very important, and I don’t feel sceptical anymore. A good first impression of Vantage from Kevin!

I’m sure most of us will be worried about accessibility to the training centre and food! Well, there’s nothing much to be worried about, as Vantage at Sena Center is located in a strategic location. The nearest BTS station is Ratchayothin, which is about 300 meters away or a five-minute walk. Don’t worry about food, as there are a lot of local food stalls around, and there are also fast-food restaurants at the malls nearby, such as Avenue Ratchayothin and Major Ratchayothin. Moreover, it’s easy to flag down a taxi on the street even during rush hour.

I consider myself very lucky to join this batch. As someone who signed up for the combined course, I thought that I would be here just for the observed teaching practices. Well, I was lucky enough to join the in-class sessions. This is where I can see that Chris is an awesome instructor! It seems like he has some sort of magic power to make the lessons easy to understand. He also gave good guidance on our lesson planning before we proceeded with the observed teaching practices.

As for the 6 hours of observed teaching practices for this batch, we got to do 4 hours of teaching in a real classroom and 2 hours of online teaching. We got to teach students from different ages, kindergarten to college students. After each teaching session, we received feedback from Chris, Kevin, or Ryan. They gave good advice, shared their own experience, and the feedback given is super detailed, which helps us to improve for the next teaching session. This is truly a great experience!

Ryan’s class about Thai cultures is really interesting and crucial for those who want to teach English in Thailand. Kevin’s resume writing class is really useful, and I’m looking forward to landing a teaching job in Bangkok soon. Besides the trainers, I have really lovely classmates that support and motivate each other all the time. Glad to be here with the right people at the right time.

Overall, all trainers are very approachable, supportive, and knowledgeable. If there are any doubts about the course content, visa-related concerns, or wanting to know more about a teaching career in Thailand, just talk to any of our amazing trainers. They give good advice and share interesting stories too.

Last but not least, a huge shoutout to Vantage’s Chris, Kevin, and Ryan! You guys have been nothing but the best! If anyone wants to apply for a TEFL course in Bangkok, Vantage TEFL Thailand is the one! Highly recommended!

I just finished my TEFL course last Friday.

Big thanks to Chris, Kevin and Ryan for making this school one of the best ones out there.

When I started this course a month ago I had zero teaching experience and I can today proudly say that I feel comfortable teaching and making lesson plans.

A great team who will push your limits, believe in you, teach you and improve your skills as a teacher to make you feel comfortable within the roll.

Definitely more than satisfied with my experience and recommend everyone thinking about it to just do it!

I recently had the pleasure of participating in a TEFL/TESOL course that just concluded with Vantage TEFL Certification and I must say it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The course, conducted by Mr. Chris, Mr. Ryan and Mr. Kevin, all knowledgeable and experienced instructors, has equipped me with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to excel in the field of teaching English language. Without a doubt, this program has far exceeded my expectations.

First and foremost, the instructors on the course were simply outstanding. Their expertise and passion for teaching English as a foreign or second language were evident from the beginning. They provided comprehensive, well-structured lessons that covered a wide range of teaching methodologies, classroom management techniques, and language acquisition theories, to mention a few. With their guidance, I was able to gain a clear understanding of the most effective strategies for fostering language learning in diverse classrooms.

The course curriculum was impressively comprehensive. From the foundations of TEFL/TESOL teaching to in-depth lessons on lesson planning, assessment, and individual student needs, every aspect was thoughtfully designed and delivered. The material was presented in a manner that was both engaging and accessible, ensuring that students with all levels of prior teaching experience could benefit equally. Additionally, the course offered ample opportunities for hands-on practice, enabling us to apply what we had learned in a supportive and constructive environment.

An aspect that truly made this course stand out was the emphasis on practicality. Not only did we gain theoretical knowledge, but we also had the chance to observe master teachers in real classroom settings, which gave us invaluable insights into effective teaching practices. Furthermore, the course incorporated opportunities for us to plan and deliver our own lessons under supervision, receiving invaluable feedback from both instructors and peers. This practical approach allowed us to develop our skills and build confidence in our abilities as future EFL/ESL teachers.

Moreover, the support provided during the course was exceptional. The instructors were readily available to answer questions, provide guidance, and offer suggestions for further development. This level of support fostered a positive and encouraging learning atmosphere, where collaboration and peer-to-peer learning were actively encouraged. It truly felt like a community of aspiring professionals coming together to learn and grow.

Yes, I met 4 interesting girls, the best girls in the world. Alex, Vivien, Cherry and Rupa, my peers and my girls. I am grateful to Vantage for creating the platform that connects us all.

In conclusion, my experience with this Tefl/Tesol course has been nothing short of transformative. The quality of instruction, the comprehensive curriculum, the emphasis on practical teaching skills, and the supportive learning environment all added immense value to my journey toward becoming an effective EFL/ESL teacher. I would highly recommend this course and this school- Vantage Tefl Certification, to anyone seeking to enhance their teaching abilities or embark on a career in English language education. It truly exceeded my expectations and has equipped me with the necessary tools to make a positive impact in the lives of English language learners.

Vantage at the Sena Centre, Phaholyothin, Bangkok offer an intense four week course on teaching English to foreign students. The course is mentored by three instructors, the principal one being Chris. Chris instructs most of the lessons/lectures, much of the instruction is by elicitation and you will be expected to take an active part in the lessons. Chris has a pleasant demeanour and is a very experienced teacher. He makes what he does look effortless, but it takes many years of experience to become so polished.

The content of the course is comprehensive and ranges from English grammar, teaching techniques, and many other aspects of the English language. Previous knowledge of these is not required, but there is much content that requires extensive study. The workload on the course is very high. One aspect that I did not enjoy was keeping a daily journal of what took place during the day. This became a chore. Some of the days are eleven hours long and the last thing that you feel like doing in the evening is completing this journal. However, the submission of this journal is an essential part of this course, and it is important to keep up as best as you can.

I very much enjoyed the course content that was much more extensive than I was ever taught at school. By the end of this course, you will be fully equipped to deal with almost any aspect of the English language. There are three exams which are an integral part of the course and they are not easy. On my part, it meant burning the midnight oil, although I gained good pass marks.

Two other instructors, Kevin Cullen and Ryan, teach aspects relating to job interviews and Thai culture and basic Thai language. I was already familiar with the Thai culture and language as a result of living in Thailand for the past eighteen years. These two aspects of the course were not demanding. If I am to offer advice to future students:

-Get your visa requirement sorted out before you start.

-Do not invite family and friends and go sightseeing with them during course time.

-Turn up on day one and attend all lessons given by the instructors.

The vantage office would benefit from better facilities for the students, namely access to a printer and photocopier. These facilities are available, but at a remote office on Phaholyothin.

I found that the instructors were very approachable and offered good advice when asked. In conclusion, I recommend this course to anyone who aspires to teaching English as a foreign language and I commend the professionalism with which the instructors carried out their duties.

Very pleased with the course overall,

The programme I took was the in-class TEFL course with both offline theory training and teaching practice. (I know there are some hybrid options as well, when you can take up the theory online.)

Actually, the company I got the course from was “ITTT” – which is a partner with Vantage. I`m not going to lie – at the beginning, having purchased the course from one company – getting redirected to a completely new one was a surprise, and at that – an unnerving experience)… Both companies responded to additional requests, but especially ITTT being a bit short-spoken with the answers – left me questioning my choice to go until the very day I rushed to the first meeting – whistling with a heavy suitcase through the streets of a completely new foreign city, dreading I was heading into a lair of horrors…

I was in for a surprise when I got into the course – but then, thankfully, a pleasant one). I was met by a bunch of other students, all from very different and interesting backgrounds; a lovely located, neat little office with training facilities(where all the theory took place); and confidence-inspiring staff.

There were a few things that surpassed my expectations a bit, and a few I hadn`t thought I needed but did – that were present as well.

Some of the theory was not very useful to me – the reason being I am a graduate of a linguistic university: the parts about grammar and pronunciation were of little use to me. That will probably not be different for most TEFL courses I would assume. Judging the contents of these parts of the material, I may say I was pleased to see a very good introduction to pronunciation – as a linguist, something I never felt was available and popularised enough.

The teaching part of the theory was the bit that I was after, as theory goes. That bit – was a success for me. I found there what I felt I was lacking so much from my university teaching training, back in my educational system; it was super practical and good at solving the very issues I faced, including the mental block with the lesson planning process; and I got the most important thing, the thing making it all work and be worth it: answers to questions.

Finally – the practice was all it was about. And it was good for two reasons in my view: the opportunities to teach were varied and challenging; the feedback was detailed and strict. One thing I would have wished for – would be higher levels of students to teach: we mostly got A1s across the board, though ages – we basically have worked with all groups but the elderly. The reason for the lack of higher level students is apparently to do with the general situation in Thailand – not very many people anywhere get to those there. But there are people of higher level even in Thailand, you might be lucky when searching for a student for your 1 on 1 project – I however – wasn`t, as one doesn`t get a lot of time for this project at all. This issue basically translates into being less ready for a different level if the time comes and you stumble across it. If you only plan on teaching in a school in Thailand, in common Thai classes – you might be fine on that front.

The thing I didn`t think I needed but appreciated deeply was the overall atmosphere – serious enough, yet not too much, with some banter by Chris – our main trainer, to back up the serious talk. As they say – it is an intensive course, and especially if you encounter difficulties – you may find yourself craving an environment that can give you good spirits and a feeling of support.

As for the job assistance – difficult to judge yet, it having not been finished – though it is promised to be lifelong.. so I guess it can take a while to do so). Kevin is quite active and has a lot of ideas as well as advice as for job hunting. As of now, I can only say I hope that the process will be fruitful for me, as I at the moment I am going to work with him on getting an online teaching job.

I had a great experience at Vantage TEFL. I personally want to thank Kevin, Chris, and Ryan for your support and knowledge throughout this course. Before the course, I was a bit nervous and unsure. Although after meeting the Vantage team all of that went away. They are awesome! Whenever I needed help it was always available. Just a call or E-mail away. They supported me and the other classmates all throughout the course. I would recommend this course to anyone who’s thinking about a career in Teaching ESL.

I learned so much from this course over the 4 weeks. It was quite intensive at times, but also a lot of fun. Chris, who presented the TEFL Course taught important language points with many examples. In addition to this, he shared experiences with teaching during the training. He is also Hilarious. After learning the ESA teaching approach and how to prepare lesson plans, we taught 6 in-class English lessons. After each lesson, we would have a self-evaluation have either Kevin, Chris, or Ryan. They gave great feedback and ways to improve a lesson. Kevin shared instructions for resume writing and shared the Power Resume approach. Kevin has been an amazing help to me after the course in applying for jobs around Bangkok. Ryan was an awesome instructor in teaching about Thai culture and lessons on Thai Language.

Thank you again.

It has been a great experience for me. It’s a great decision that I made to finally register and learn in Vantage TEFL. Honestly I joined this course not to find a job, I’ve been a teacher, but I want to learn more, I want to be a better teacher.

I feel very satisfied that Vantage meets my expectations. I learned a lot from the intensive classes, it was quite tiring but it was great. I do expect to have these intensive classes, so I can learn as much as possible. Vantage also provided a very positive class environment with excellent teachers, it taught me valuable teaching skills and teaching method.

I love the practical teaching experience, even though I’ve already got some experiences in teaching, especially with young learners, there’s always room for improvement. The teachers observed and gave valuable feedback, hence I could improve my lessons and my teaching skills. The teaching practices for different level of students, from young learners, primary, secondary school and the nurses were really unforgettable experience.

All in all, Vantage TEFL was a complete program, whether you just want to start to be a teacher or you’ve been a teacher, I’m sure you won’t regret joining Vantage TEFL.

The Vantage TEFL course gets my highest recommendation. An enormous amount of preparation went into the class content. The lessons do not simply re-state the content of the course book, but have been prepared with supplemental material and excellent teaching slides. This is particularly true of the grammar content. I had always found English grammar to be a mass of undifferentiated detail to be memorized. Chris, the instructor at Vantage presents English grammar in a systematic and intelligible way. If you are considering the hybrid course you won’t get the benefit of the in-class instruction from Chris. Some of the students who took the hybrid course and sat in on some of the in-class lectures told me that they regretted not taking the in-class version of the course.

Another aspect of the course that I am very positive about is the approach to lesson planning. Previously, I had the impression that lesson plans were just an administrative burden. After learning how to prepare and use lesson plans in the Vantage TEFL class I now view them as an indispensable and welcome tool. Demo lessons (or any lessons) don’t intimidate me as I know I can plan and execute a lesson plan in a systematic way. The lesson plan raises the level of quality of the lesson I present, and increases my confidence going into a planned lesson.

The instruction in resume writing, the Power Resume approach that Kevin at Vantage teaches, has been enormously helpful to me. Instead of a laundry list of past jobs and education the Power Resume shifts the focus to what you can do, what you have to offer the employer, and not just a list of job titles.

I took the course recently and took a week of down time before getting seriously down to work on my resume. It is Saturday as I am writing this. On Thursday Kevin reviewed my revised resume and said he thought it was ready to send out. As of today (48 hours later) I already have two interviews scheduled and several requests for more information or more supporting documents indicating some interest from those schools or agencies.

Before I started thinking about this review I was kind of thinking: “The TEFL class wasn’t that difficult”. But on a little reflection I remember how I felt during class and I would say that I was hard pressed at times during the 4 weeks. It was difficult for me, and there was time pressure to complete things, especially lesson plans. This was a result of the volume of content that was presented in 4 weeks rather than anything to do with how Vantage presented the class.

Everyone at Vantage is very supportive and I always felt any help I needed was available. I experienced some practical difficulties during the class that were age and health-related and Chris and Kevin were very supportive in helping me get through those problems.

The most important question to be answered in a review is “Was the Vantage TEFL course worth the time, money, and effort required?”. For me this is an emphatic “Yes!”. I feel well-prepared to assume teaching duties and just as important I feel well-prepared as a job seeker. If you are considering a TEFL course I give the Vantage TEFL Course my highest recommendation.
