Description

Vantage was established in 2007 and is Thailand’s highest rated TEFL program.

They offer a 120-hour, in-class TEFL course with 6 hours of observed teaching practice in Thai schools.

The experience I had at Vantage was immensely positive. I came to the TEFL certification course with many worries and concerns, but after the first day I knew I chose the right place. Chris was an amazing instructor and I honestly can’t imagine taking this course without him as my teacher. We dived right into the material, and despite the workload, it was quite enjoyable. The small class size meant that I was able to get a lot of personal feedback and attention throughout the course. Chris went very in depth with the course material and aded a lot of personal insight from his years in the teaching world.

The teaching practicum was one of the highlights of the course. It’s one thing learning the material and a whole different thing putting it into action. This course prepared me to be in front of a class and I’m happy to say that my confidence has increased. The whole team is very helpful and want to see you succeed. I highly recommend taking the TEFL certification course with Vantage.

This course was absolutely fantastic in terms of efficiency and content. I came into it not knowing what to expect and lacking confidence in my own ability. But although it may seem like a lot of work (which it is), this course contains everything one may need to build that confidence up. As the main trainer said to me during the course, confidence comes naturally with both solid knowledge and practice : at Vantage, you’ll get plenty of both.

Everyone is there to help, providing much needed feedback and guide you through the step by step journey towards becoming a well-trained ESA teacher. From lesson planning to actual live practice with real college students. From the complex grammar points of the English language to the various classroom management solutions and teaching methods you can use as a teacher, everything will be covered and explained by highly experienced trainers.

The only thing I’d mention is that the workload can get pretty heavy if you don’t space it out yourself as a trainee. I’d advise doing a little bit everyday as opposed to leaving most of it for the last week.

Overall a great experience and I recommend it to all those who wish to get properly TEFL-trained .

This course is outstanding!

Even though I have five years of teaching experience, there are many things during this course that gave me a big eye-opening and understanding how useful it was to take an in-class course. 

Especially the practicum (= teaching 8x for a university/college) is the definitely the most important part. Also, there are two given Thai language classes where I took the role of a student which was also very valuable! Besides that, there are two also classes to make a powerful resume and tips and strategies to make the best out of your job interview.

The course book gave me a load of info, however, in the end, it is all about the field teaching experience. Chris, Kevin, and Ryan gave me these experiences. They are supportive and always ready to help you. ‘The best teachers are not teaching from the book but from the heart.’  That’s also what these three guys at Vantage are doing. Whatever the language you want to teach, it starts here. Native or non-native speaker, with or without teaching experiences.

I would heartily recommend Vantage to anyone interested in a teaching career.

Hello future teachers!

I did my due diligence before choosing Vantage TEFL and I did a great job with my research. I can’t believe how much I learned in 4 weeks, it was amazing and I feel that I achieved a high degree of personal and professional accomplishment. It was an intensive course and I really didn’t have time for anything else. I never would have received the type of training I had with Vantage had I completed an online course or went to any other in person school in Thailand. I have the confidence that I need to work anywhere I wish and to teach any student level. During the length of the course you will need to remain focused and use the weekends to create your lesson plans and catch up on your portfolio. I was given access to plenty of online resources through Dropbox and the instructor was able to answer all my questions. I was the only student in my class and I was given a lot of help with resume writing and a lot of attention. I am very satisfied with VantageTEFL and it was money well spent. I was proud the day I was given my Certification.

Initially, I mostly chose Vantage based on its great reviews on the independent TEFL review sites like TCR. I got so much more than I ever bargained for.

I also came to the course feeling completely out of my comfort zone, but by the end, I left feeling 100% confident of my teaching skills in the classroom.

The course is very well designed and thoroughly prepares you to be successful in the classroom. The feedback I got after each of the six practice teaching sessions was eye-opening and probably the single biggest factor in developing my new teaching skill set.

The trainers are super knowledgeable—they have decades of classroom experience–and are always available for any questions—even the days when I stayed well into the evenings preparing lesson plans.

I believe this program is unique in that it has its own dedicated Jobs Coach. I worked with him in building what Vantage calls a “Power Resume” and cover letter. It was miles ahead of what I had before. The week after graduation, Vantage lined up interviews with the network of teacher agencies. I got multiple job offers the very same day.

Thanks again to the Vantage team. They had a hugely positive impact on my career change–and indeed my life!

I had always wanted to teach in Thailand. There are many courses and providers to choose from but as soon as i came accross Vantage i knew where i wanted to gain my TEFL Certification. The facilities are superb and Chris, our course instructor, was extremely helpful throughout the 4 weeks of intensive study. There is also plenty of opportunity to get through the course marerial and lesson planning during the week which gave us the opportunity to unwind during the weekends. Having the opportunity to teach Thai students during the course was an invaluable experience and Chris ensured we were prepared from start to finish. We also received separate lessons on job applications and how to build our Power Resumes by course director Kevin which meant job offers were on the table as soon as we received our Certification! It’s not a surprise why Vantage are the leading TEFL course provider in Thailand – a thoroughly enjoyable and worthwhile experience – thank you

My experience at Vantage has been one of the most intensive but yet the most invigorating course that I have ever been a part of during my life of studies.

The trainer Chris that taught my course was very knowledgeable & seasoned in information about the different concepts of the English language and how to apply it to a course lesson for foreigners.

Chris is not your typical instructor, he grasps your attention during the course topic and engages with every student in a unique way that applies to their way of thinking and personality.

That was very important to me during my study because this exempts that feeling of being left out. You’re more than a number and a price tag and that leaves you feeling confident and eager to give your best. As a trainee, the staff is not only knowledgeable in instructing TEFL, but has great hospitality in making the trainees feel very comfortable in learning, understanding, and getting aquatinted as a local to give you the best environment to learn.

During the course, you will need to learn the basics of Thai language such as common greetings, numbers, & basic items. The trainer Ryan which instructed these concepts to my class was creative and fun in how he engaged us as learners into an unfamiliar world of culture and grammar. This was especially a stress reliever because without that creativity Ryan gives, learning Thai would be kind of hard.

The quality of training given at Vantage exceeded my expectations by a far fetch & you will definitely get your money’s worth no doubt about that. I was a trainee that was definitely rusty in my specifics about grammar but that was no challenge for the staff. You get encouraged and sharpened all the way through.

Last but not least the Manager Kevin goes way beyond reach to give you deep insight on tips to sharpen your resume, and the dos & don’ts when landing an interview. Also if you want any job placements he has strong networks and resources that will get you in the door or set you on the right track.

An outstanding team of professionals who enjoy what they do!!

Hands down, these are the guys you want to train you for a teaching career in education.

I had a lot of doubts about teaching in Thailand as I have only been here a number of months. I was worried that the Thai school system would be very different to what I was used to back home.

Vantage immediately put me to rest. In the first few days, I bonded with the class and we drove straight into teaching theory and methodologies. One of my fellow students was an experienced teacher who was training to be a fully-fledged professional English language teacher—and we were soon all finding out what that really entailed.

The course was intensive, but Vantage provided support each step of the way for the exercises and activities to be completed to the highest standard. Vantage runs small class sizes, so our training was highly personalized and we got a ton of help that I’m sure we wouldn’t in a larger sized class. The trainers had nothing but time for us.

We did our observed teaching practice sessions at a nursing college—a truly fantastic experience. Observations from the trainers (as well as our peers) helped us improve immeasurably after each practice lesson. This was so important in my development as a professional teacher.

Vantage encouraged me to reach my full training potential. They really built my confidence. They went miles out of their way to give their students the very best preparation to teach English and become great teachers. I would recommend Vantage without hesitation.

I’d like to thank Chris, our TEFL instructor, for his thorough and conversational approach to teaching the content of the course. We were able to dig beyond the textbook and have all our questions answered. Feel free to ask him anything! He’s a wealth of information. Since the course is workshop style with a small number of students, there is more focus on individual development and team collaboration. I can honestly say it was fun, instructive, and everything I needed to be successful in the classroom.

I enjoyed the practicum because it confirmed my goal to be a teacher. You never really know how you’ll feel about teaching until you try. After you get the hang of it, you begin to notice your strengths and weaknesses.

I’m going to be honest and say it is definitively an intensive course if you’re doing it all in Bangkok. You have class all day and for 1-2 weeks you may finish at 8 PM since you’ll be teaching and observing your peers. If you want to party or do touristy things, better luck when you’re finished with the course or cash in on the weekends.

The part I found the most challenging was creating the lesson plans in the afternoon with only a couple hours to work on them. It made me realize how much work is actually put into teaching. As a student, you think a teacher just shows up, but that is not the case. There’s preparation, performance, and strategy involved. If you don’t want to put in any effort, this may not be the most ideal career choice for you. TEFL prepares you to be an adaptable and intuitive teacher. It gives you tools to add to your toolbox. What you do with it is on you.

All in all, for me it was worth the investment. I want to travel and teach, but if I’m going to teach, I want to make sure I’m good at it.

Vantage was my first choice because I was able to complete the course online and then complete a teaching practicum in person. It turned out to be the best of both worlds.

I am so glad I chose to complete the practicum in person at Vantage. It gave me hands-on experience that I would have never gotten had I only completed the course online. The teaching practices were amazing, I loved being able to take what I learned online and apply it to actual students in a real classroom.

Kevin and Chris were so helpful throughout my time at Vantage. Chris was always available to answer my questions and give advice over lesson plans. I was also invited to attend any of their In-Class sessions as well.

Kevin helped so much with jobs and resume writing. He got me my first job offer as I was finishing my course.

I would hands down recommend this course to anyone looking for a TEFL certification program.
