I’ve just finished the TEFL Level 5 course (168 hrs) and had a really great experience learning about teaching English with The TEFL academy. I had the opportunity to gain all the necessary knowledge to become an ESL teacher.

The course is very well structured and practical. There are 10 units in the course with 3 assignments. The assignments took me a lot of hard work, a week for each one.

Each unit is very detailed and has lots of additional reading resources. After each unit there is a test that helps you assess your understanding, which is really great! I I would definitely recommend The TEFL academy to anyone looking to learn about teaching English.

Receiving grades after doing assignments got me motivated to improve my language and teacher skills.

I am really thankful to The Tefl Academy for this opportunity and support throughout the course.

I have been really happy with the course as I liked the course content. It was easily explained to understand. Practicing the exercises were interesting and motivating. The feedback from the instructors was prompt within 3-4 days and also well explained by examples.

All in one it was fun learning and being encouraged to go ahead with teaching.

I had a great experience with my Level 5 online course. I found the interface really easy to use, the units clear enough to work through on my own at home and the assignments and exams to be relevant and well connected to the unit content.

I really feel as though I learnt a lot which I wasn’t sure would be the case doing it on my own at home but I felt everything was really well thought through and manageable while being interesting the whole way through.

I did the online course; it was structured well and the assignments were challenging; however, there could have been more interactive support.

Moreover, I have been waiting a very long time for my PDF certificate, which has negatively affected my overall view of the academy. The turn around time for the PDFs should be quicker.

While taking and passing your 5th Level TEFL course I started to get the uneasy feeling that one of the basic principles of your teaching model was to “talk down” to students,, never going above their level from A1 to C2. According to your model a teacher should be a gentle guide, that explains (teaches) and corrects as little as possible The main activity is to organize students in pairs, groups , teams and engage in interactive activities such as role playing, board games and other “amusing” activities. that involve them but don’t challenge them (for example with difficult vocabulary).

I taught English at the University of Rome for 12 years, I organized USMLE, GMAT, TOEFL (US exams) for 20 and I have concluded that underestimating students’ potential and their will to work hard to achieve their goals is not only condescending but also a great disservice to the students themselves. I understand that language schools have different criterions and objectives and that interactivity is a fundamental part of teaching and learning a language but to lower standards in fear of being culturally insensitive or discouraging is not only patronizing but also a waste of time and money for the students .

I just finished my 120-hour Tefl course and I am very glad I did it. The course was online

and I could finish each unit in my time. It was easy to navigate within the system. The materials were well structured, informative, clear and interesting. These materials and valuable resources give you enormous knowledge and I feel confident and enjoyed it very much. I can highly recommend this course to those who are interested in teaching.

This is definitely the most comprehensive TEFL course out there. The actual course content is precise, grammar is spot on and the soft skills taught is invaluable. Good background information and lots of quality external references empower you to learn so much more than the course itself. The assignments are challenging and should be kept for actual teaching scenarios. The TEFL Academy is preparing teachers for real-life teaching, and I feel more than confident to give my next lesson tomorrow!

I have just successfully completed the level 5 168 hours online course. It was definitely more challenging than I anticipated, but I feel proud at having succesfully achieved certification, after not having studied for 20 years. The course content is well laid out and presented. The assignments are challenging and require quite a bit of time and planning.

I’m looking forward to the rewards of being able to do online tutoring.

Overall a great in-depth and rewarding course.

This course is perfect for those who are at the beginning of their teaching career. Each unit is full of valuable information, tips, techniques and advice. Each unit also includes interactive activities and links to resourceful websites! The layout easy read and navigate and you can always go back to previous lessons for a review. The end of unit tests provide good opportunities to check you progress and understanding. Feedback on the assignments is quick and thorough with tips for the future. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who is starting a teaching career and looking to teach abroad as this certificate is recognized worldwide and will help you land a teaching role. I am now currently teaching English in Rome after a successful year teaching in Krakow.

I am so glad I joined the TEFL Academy. There are hundreds of places to do an online course to teach English, however, the TEFL Academy offers something I believe the other organisations do not. That is 100% support throughout the course! The course itself is challenging and can be very difficult at times, but as you continue to complete he units, you learn to understand ways of working smarter and saving some time to do the assignments. I was simply amazed at how detailed the course content was. Everything was easy to read and understand. When you make sufficient time for your TEFL tests and assignments, you are more than able to get a distinction. I was happy with all of the feedback and assistance received by TEFL support. It was just as they said, within 5 working days. I found this course really exciting and it taught me new ways of teaching and learning at the same time. This course will definitely make you excited to teach. I am currently awaiting my certificate, which I will be proud to have and showcase because I have completed a challenging yet necessary course. I am more than pleased with the TEFL Academy!
