I thoroughly enjoyed the structure of the online course. As a student, I particularly enjoyed that I could complete the online course at my own pace!

Simon was great support with excelled knowledge over the weekend. He made the intensive 20 look like only few hours. It was fun, interactive, educational so by the end of it all, I felt more confident into what our tasks would be and how it all should be done and look like.

I’ve had the weekend course with Simon. The content and structure of the lesson was excellent. It was a 12 hour course however due to how interesting it was it didn’t feel long at all. Simon has shown us different techniques of teaching in such fun way that we can use when we become teachers ourselves and would explain every step of what we have to do in great detail. we have learnt so much through activities without constantly looking into our textbooks which was amazing. This weekend course left me wanting to learn more and this is the first time this has happened to me where i left my class feeling motivated and wanted to come back for more. I aspire to be a teacher like simon, Amazing Amazing Amazing.

Simon was a great instructor and managed to teach us a huge amount of information in just two days! This was a fun, challenging, productive, and very helpful weekend course; I have a much better grasp of TEFL now, and will be referring to my notes from this course often.

Elizabeth kept our motivation over two long weekend days! I don’t think I could have had a better teacher, she was so patient and positive. I really hope I can teach like her one day! Thank you!

The 20-hour in-classroom course over the last weekend in Chester Holiday Inn was very productive I felt and there was a very nice group of people there as well as a supportive and highly competent teacher which created a relaxed and friendly environment whilst still maintaining a high level of professionalism and standard of teaching.

I don’t have any suggestions as to how to improve it really and am satisfied with how the weekend went.

Regards,

Tom

It was a great weekend because I feel that I learned a lot from just two days worth of lessons.

The teacher/instructor was very helpful in making sure we knew and understood what we supposed to be doing, she answered any questions as and when we had them.

The class size was small enough so when we had our turn at teaching I personally did not feel intimidated or overwhelmed. I would recommend this course for anyone who is new to teaching and just wants to see what it is like.

It is great for first-timers but I wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking for something more intensive as it is only a short course.

My weekend at the TEFL course, Bournemouth.

I thoroughly enjoyed completing my classroom TEFL course on the weekend of 18th-19th January. The course was engaging, differing between various types of learning which I found kept our class engaged throughout.

Tony, the course teacher was very informative and delivered his lessons with an upbeat manner, which I found kept our class engaged throughout. I felt the duration of each lesson was just the right amount of time and there was no point where the day felt long. Tony was great at then using his own lessons as examples when he was teaching us how to execute our own classroom sessions, and when we were given time to plan these, he made the effort to visit each student to ensure they had an understanding of the task given, and had great patience to help us feel more comfortable with our project.

Overall I was incredibly pleased with the classroom sessions, and in all honesty it exceeded my expectations. I am having trouble finding cons as I believe the weekend was very beneficial and I gained a lot of knowledge.

David was a great teacher and always approachable. The TEFL weekend course was made more enjoyable because of his attitude and extensive knowledge of teaching English. I felt really confident at the end of the weekend and would recommend the course to anyone thinking about it.

I was excited about attending the weekend course to see how we would be teaching our students in the future. Immediately Rachel introduced teaching/training methods (ice breaker and warmers). It was evident from the start Rachel had a wealth of experience in both the TEFL and teaching worlds and throughout the training her training and experience were evident – backed up with the qualifications she had gained over time.

I noticed very quickly that there was no writing anything from a board and time was certainly a constraint. Rachel explained there was a lot of content, unfortunatley in my opinion there was too much content for 2 days. This is not a criticism of Rachel’s teaching, however delivering a complete “presentation” with all the various steps including a “lead in” and ask for full recollection is too much. Especially when you are then tasked with producing a presentation which is assessed. I think it is very poor that students are not informed until they arrive that the course is pass or fail – this needs to be made clear. This sentiment was shared by Rachel as no one on the course knew it was pass or fail. To improve this there needs to be opportunity to either write notes or there needs to be handouts detailing each section for reference. Furthermore there needs to be the opportunity to practice the steps in a broken down scenario to increase confidence in the students. Again this is due to the course being 2 days.

On the second day we were shown how to deliver a reading lesson. Prior to this we were informed there were 4 types of lesson but we would only be learning about one. The constraint of 2 days being demonstrated. Briefly toughing on the other methods so we had an idea/understanding would have been beneficial at least as an introduction for further methodology.

Rachel spent some time going over where we could find employment in the future when we qualify and some excellent websites/apps to use with students. This was of great value as it showed us the various avenues we could take and the variety of work this whole TEFL course offers.

Throughout Rachel was consistent, enthusiastic and her knowledge was evident. I felt very comfortable being taught by her and everyone else on the course, in my opinion, felt the same. Her method of explaining and delivering the content was good and was helpful throughout.

Overall the course was very good in what it tries to teach you and Rachel delivered it very well. To improve it the course needs to be extended certainly by another half day. As a pre requisite, the online Methodology course should be completed prior to attending as this will give you a far better understanding as to what the weekend course is all about and see it done to a gold standard.
