Hello,

I am so glad I signed up with Ontesol.com. The course material was excellent and the feedback I received really helped me become a better instructor. I’ve been teaching business English in colleges around Vancouver for three years and taking this course has helped me become a much better teacher.

The most helpful part was learning about the communicative approach. For years I felt that rote learning was not the best method of teaching. Learning the communicative approach cemented my belief that using reality-based learning would enhance the learning process. I’ve made a few adjustments to the way I create lesson plans which have made my classroom a better environment for my students.

The only area I would suggest needs improvement is the Lesson Planning section. The book doesn’t do the process of creating lesson plans justice. I took me weeks to understand what was required. My instructor and I had to email several times before I was able to understand her expectations and requirements. Once I got it, I got it and the rest of the plans were easier to create.

The request for job interviews are already coming in despite only having finished the course. Best career decisions I’ve ever made..

Martin

Summary of this review: I would DEFINITELY recommend the OnTESOL 120-Hour Certificate Course if you are in the market for getting online accreditation to teach English abroad or at home.

Also, if you’re looking for bang for your buck, OnTESOL is for you. The cost was just over less than half of what you would pay doing the same thing (with less hours) with Oxford.

My tutor was respectful, professional, helpful, and always responded promptly with feedback on my assignments. I felt like I was being taken care of the whole time. The quality of the feedback was great and I learned a lot from having taken this course.

The course content appeared to be well thought-out and flowed well. There were links to additional resources and an abundance of ideas for games and activities within the readings. You can print out the readings and have them to refer to when you begin actual classroom teaching, and, let me tell you, you won’t remember everything so it’s really a godsend to have something to refer back to.

The only drawback with this course is that it will take a long time to complete, and you really must have the motivation to complete it. It’s advertised as 120 hours, but it took me over 200 (I tend to really go overboard with detail, so maybe that’s why). Don’t think that you’ll complete it in a month. If you want to take time to digest everything that’s in the course, you will need time.

I did not end up needing to use the job assistance portion of the course, so I can’t comment on that. I also opted to not do the practice teaching, so no comment there, either.

There are a lot of good reviews with this company, and for good reason, too. Why are you still reading this review? Go and enroll now!

I completed the 120 hour certification program. I found the content to be extensiveand very relative the ESL training requirements needed in today’s job market. I was extremely fortunate to have a very responsive, supportive, and intelligent teacher. He provided me with extensive feedback and suggestions for improvements that were empowering and relevant. He had over 20 years experience in teaching EFL and therefore I felt he was really competent and reliable in the content and feedback he gave to me. His response time was incredible! Th course itself is well constructed and if you can self regulate you will do quite well and complete on your own timetable. The content itself Was very detailed and interesting. I do wish I could have had The ability to actually record a lesson I gave myself to have it evaluated in the base program instead of having practice in the classroom at an additional cost. Overall I found this program to be very good and I’ve already put it to good use in my training consulting business with my ESL adult learners. Would highly recommend !

I took the 250-hour course plus the module, Teaching English to Young Learners. The course content was engaging and challenging, and I feel they prepared me well for my current position in an English language school. Both my course work tutors and my practicum supervisors were experienced and extremely knowledgable in the field. My assignments were marked and returned to me promptly with positive feedback, insightful comments to help clarify my understanding, as well as recommendations for improvement. Just one suggestion: the text for the courses contained some links to video content, a few of which were no longer available. Perhaps these could be replaced with other video content. For those considering taking a TESOL course, I highly recommend choosing the 250-hour option for more comprehensive training.

The material was presented very professionally and contained a lot of insightful information. I think what makes this course so good is the level of assignments and the quality of feedback from the tutor. The tutor did not just let me pass through the course and asked me to submit a few revisions to ensure I was ready for the classroom. I really valued this level of professionalism and I would recommend Ontesol to everyone who asks me about getting their certificate to go abroad.

Everything I learned in the online course prepared me for the Practicum. The Practicum was particularly useful for my first week of work when I had to do over 10 lesson plans. The online course and Practicum prepared me for the intensity of the job, making my lessons more enjoyable and saving me a bunch of time and stress. This intensive course, topped with a professional tutor and Practicum supervisor who provided detailed feedback, was worth every second of my time. My tutors, the job coordinator and other alumni programs helped me feel part of the school in a way that is unheard of for an online program. Highly recommended!!!!!!!!

I have enjoyed using my OnTesol course for the past 7 years in life, in Cambodia and in Taiwan.

The assistance I received from the kind instructors that helped me to be creative and develop the way to teach. I would recommend this course to anyone that would like to know more about Teaching English as a Second Language and developing the skill of making lesson plans.

Thank you OnTEsol for your help all these years after completing my course I feel you have done a lot to assist me in growing and succeed in teaching English.

This course was a pleasure to complete. The content and materials are thoroughly organized and presented, and the feedback from the instructors was a huge help. I currently live and work in Germany, and the certificate I obtained from Ontesol has made a huge impact on the types of positions I’ve been considered for. I am still completing an integration course for citizenship, but once that’s completed I expect to be working full time with a local language school or university.

I was a bit frustrated at times with the directions provided for some of the lessons, so I would recommended this course for anyone that can successfully manage their own time. Online learning is fun easy and in some cases better than in person lectures, but it takes diligence and the willingness to hold yourself accountable in order to make the most of the service offered.

I was required to upgrade my TESOL certificate by the director of my previous workplace due to licensing reasons with Languages Canada. At the time I was currently teaching in Vancouver BC, so I did not have the luxury to take time off from work to upgrade by TESOL certificate. I was recommended by Languages Canada to look into OnTesol. At first I was concerned because it was all online however I was totally impressed!! My tutor was awesome and the textbook material was amazing. I printed a hardcopy and keep it as a reference at work. The course was extremely informative and fun. I completed the practicum section as well and found it super interesting to observe other teachers and get a chance to work with a new level in a new environment. I am not tech savvy but since the system is so easy to use I never encountered an issue. Feedback from my TA was excellent and his side notes were amazing. I honestly would have never been able to complete a 120 TESOL course if I had not done it through Ontesol. I would totally recommend this course for anyone in the industry of teaching English.

I thought this was a thorough course. I would recommend it to others.

Pros ->

Personal tutor -> My personal tutor, Aaron, was an insightful aid and added a personal component to the online course. He responded quickly with well thought out advice.

Detailed Lesson Plans -> The lesson plan models were detailed and the structure was well laid out.

Cons ->

Badly organized -> I found it hard to find things and the user interface to be poorly organized.
