My 120-hours OnTESOL course was an effective, efficient, and high-quality expenditure of my time and money. My instructor was easy to communicate with, responsive, and provided in-depth feedback that was entirely specific to my work. I appreciated the time and effort that she put into providing me with feedback. Since completing this certificate, I have had steady work as an ESL instructor at various post-secondary institutions in Canada. I have recommended OnTESOL’s program to my friends and will continue to recommend it to anyone who is interested in TESL certification.

I took OnTesol’s 250 hour course to prepare to teach English abroad. From the very beginning, I was pleased with how many various topics the course covered. Starting with grammar and later getting into different activity types and lesson planning, it was fairly comprehensive dive into what an EFL or ESL teacher needs to know to complete his or her job successfully, and the information was presented in a clear and concise way. I do wish, however, that there had a section on second language acquisition (SLA) theory. Knowing about some of the mechanisms that drive language acquisition and SLA would help teachers to better understand how and why their students might struggle, and thus make them better equipped to help the students. If I had to recommend anything be added to the course, it would be SLA theory.

When completing the program, I had a mentor who checked my assignments and answered any other questions I had via email. She was very prompt in replying to any emails I sent her, and the tips that she gave me when checking over my lesson plans especially, as I had never before written a lesson plan, was invaluable. I think being able to access one’s mentor in real time, like over video call, would be very helpful as well, so that might be something to consider for the future.

The time period given to complete the course was very generous, and I loved being able to work on as much or as little as I wanted so long as I completed the course within the set time frame. The convenience was one of the main reasons I chose OnTesol’s program in the first place.

I never took advantage of the job placement section of the OnTesol site, but as there does not seem to be an option to not score a section, I gave five stars to not drag down the over all rating.

Overall, I had a very positive experience with OnTesol’s 250 hour course. I learned a lot about grammar and teaching itself that really helped me to appreciate the complexity of the job that lay before me. My mentor was very kind and helpful, and the convenience of online courses can never be beat! I just hope that in the future OnTesol incorporates more SLA theory into the course and makes conferencing with mentors possible.

I was enrolled in the 120 Hour Tesol certification course, 20 hour practicum and the 20 hour IELTS specialization mini course. All three, without a doubt, exceeded my expectations. As some people may be aware, online certifications (compared to their onsite counterparts) are occasionally frowned upon by certain schools – without a doubt however, the detailed modules, range of course assignments and the know-how of the tutors puts Ontesol as a top certification provider. Despite having worked abroad for some years, there was still a vast amount of valuable information that I gained during every step of the process. From a personal perspective, I would say that the tutors are specifically what make Ontesol amazing though. You have someone there at all times to help you with any and all questions you might have; regardless of the simplicity or complexity of your inquiries, they always provide detailed answers. In one particular case, I asked a specific detailed grammar-related question and not only did my tutor answer my question, they even went as far to provide external resources for my own personal learning. In another instance, I found that my tutor’s constructive criticism was the extra push that I needed to gain more confidence as an instructor. I truly believe that this “going above and beyond” attitude is something that all educators should be striving to achieve – it makes me feel extremely reassured to know that Ontesol, as a certification provider for hundreds of other teachers, also feels the same way!

I made the right choice when I chose to complete a 250 hour diploma program through onTesol. This course, complete with the 3 modules and video resources, was easy to follow along with the tasks and assignments. The tutor that I was provided with was amazing and did not hesitate to answer any of my questions if I was having any trouble. Best of all, I was able to finish this course on my own time so I could do everything to the best of my abilities. As someone who is now teaching English as a second language, I strongly recommend taking this course because it definitely did further my education not only in teaching but in classroom tactics and differentiation.

Ontesol far exceeded my expectations of online education. The course was very rigorous, with plenty of assignments that tested my ability to plan a full lesson. These assignments took me into the classroom so every activity I plan has a communicative purpose.

My tutor sent full explanations on grammar and teaching methods that complemented the material very well and added a very personal touch. After the course, their staff contacted me to guide me with my job search and helped me apply with a couple of companies in China until I got the job. Overall, I give Ontesol 5 stars!

I took the 250 Hour Advanced Diploma. It took me about a year to complete the course work and 3 week to do the 50 hour practicum.

The course is demanding and challenging, but in the best possible way. I am deeply with how well I was prepared for entering this field of work. The thorough coverage and practice of lesson planning gave me everything I needed and more. I was exposed to a wide range of brilliant teaching techniques and always encouraged to be creative in thinking up ways to engage students in meaningful activities. I had a wonderfully responsive and patient tutor who provided me with indispensable feedback and guidance. In Canada, both private language schools and LINC programs were satisfied with my credentials and sample lesson plans. I have now landed a full time dream job with a LINC organization.

I strongly recommend this program. It gave me both the skills and practice I needed, plus a confidence I didn’t think I could obtain.

After my first year of teaching in Japan, I wanted to widen my pedagogical toolkit and fortify my knowledge of proper grammar.

I researched all the other sites offering online certification, but OnTESOL had the best curriculum and support for the price. The material was challenging, my advisers always responded to my questions promptly and graded fairly, and I was immediately able to put my newfound knowledge into practice in my classrooms. The course organization is superb and builds from the foundations upward. It definitely gave my teaching confidence a boost.

The OnTESOL 100-hour course was an excellent learning opportunity for what I was looking for, and also allowed me to get the certification I needed to open doors to teaching jobs in Korea afterward. I would certainly recommend it!

I took the 250-hour Diploma course and I am very satisfied with it. It definitively exceeded my expectations in every way.

My tutor was there anytime I needed her and was quick to respond to every question I had. She was excellent. Her support and comments were enriching.

I have not done the practicum yet, but I eventuallty will.

The material is very well written, clear and structured. Every assignment was challenging, and I must say that I learnt a lot from them. I strongly recommend this course !

I recently completed the 120 hour OnTesol Certificate Course. The organization of the course was impressive. My tutor was extremely responsive and provided timely, constructive feedback which encouraged me to improve my performance. As an experienced educator and online Facilitator, I found the course content manageable yet challenging.

I will definitely recommend this course to my colleagues who are seeking professional development programmes and, or opportunities for further education in TESOL.

This was truly an excellent learning experience.

Well done, team!

I completed the 250-hour course a couple of years ago. The course was challenging and inexpensive.

The course is endorsed by TESL Canada which ranks it more more highly than a CELTA. It is also endorsed by ACTDEC. These endorsements are important and relatively few online programs have both of them.

There were some problems with the course content. First, there is far too much emphasis on lesson planning, and the making of long and detailed lesson plans. This is not really practical. Although all professional teachers plan, there is not enough time, or even the need, to make overly-long plans. In my many years of teaching, I have relied on a a “running order” for my classes. The course needs to use other assessments of trainees’ progress(such as quizzes and papers)and reduce the number of lesson plans required. Second, the pronunciation section is otiose and needs to be redone. The pronunciation section was the least-useful part of the course.

Finally, many employers do not accept online credentials. That practice is wrongheaded and illogical, but it is the reality.
