I just completed the 140 hour TOEFL course. Being an English major with a graduate degree, I assumed that getting TOEFL certified would be a cake walk. I quickly realized that teaching English as a second language is very different than writing literary criticism in graduate school. Fortunately

I had a very supportive tutor who included a plethora of resources and references which I will be able to use for years to come. While I have nothing to compare the course to, I would rate it as being an excellent foundation for students new to toefl. In reality, it is just a beginning.

Now I am hoping to start working online to get more confidence and experience in actual teacher-student contact.

I am a 2012 graduate of the TEFL course offered by ITTO in Guadalajara, México, a beautiful major city with many opportunities. I enrolled in ITTO’s reasonably-priced, homestay program and had a wonderful experience with a friendly family in comfortable housing: definitely recommended for anyone wanting a cultural experience.

Following the intensive 4 week course at ITTO, I found work almost immediately in México, first in Tlaquepaque, then in Puerto Vallarta, where I lived for a year. I went on to teach as a volunteer in Barranquilla, Colombia in 2014, and will be working as an English teacher in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia in 2015. The ITTO staff in Guadalajara are always excited and supportive of their students work and lives after graduation.

Since earning my TEFL certificate, my life has changed for the better and nearly every moment has been amazing. At times, teaching and living in another country is challenging, but the rewards and adventures make it worth doing. While where you go and what you teach is up to you, the options that appear as a result of being an ITTO graduate are limitless.

I have just completed the TEFL 140Hour course within about a month and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. I had never done a course online before and was a bit nervous at the beginning. The course was easy to understand and the structure easy to follow. My Tutor was definitely the most helpful as she gave me A LOT of feedback and material to use in my future classes. I have never taught English before so this material will be very useful. My tutuor was very friendly and encouraging. I got the feeling that she genuinely wants me to succeed.

The Administration were also very helpful and prompt with their communication.

I am now looking forward to travelling and teaching abroad! I would recommend this course to anyone who would like to teach English!

Just finished the TEFL 120-H online course and it was awesome! I wanted to get my feet wet before going all in into teaching English abroad. I looked around and found the ITTO online course to be the perfect match for me. All the course material were very informative and easy to comprehend. The best part of the course was having a private tutor who would give awesome feedback and help me throughout the entire time of the course. The tutor did their best to make sure we learn as much as we could and to encourage us to move forward. I am so glad that I took this course and would recommend anyone who is looking to teach English abroad. It gets the basics down.

The courses offered at ITTO are excellent and prepare a person for teaching abroad. The 120 hour course helped me greatly this year as I moved to Turkey and am now teaching at an international school with many ESL students. I had two online tutors since I took a break during this course and took the year to complete it. My second tutor, Susan Gammage, is the best tutor anyone could ask for. She is great in assessing assignments and doesn’t just show someone the weak areas of the tasks, but also gives a person constructive feedback to greatly improve in weak areas. She always writes promptly and is willing to help her students succeed as much as possible. She has given me so many resources and possibilities to look into now. I would recommend ITTO to anyone interested in starting their TESL career.

I completed the 140 hour TEFL/TESOL online course in March of 2011.

I offer an overall rating of this course as excellent. The course content was thorough and detailed. The Practice Teaching aspect was a bit confusing to me. In fairness, I suspect that may have been because learning online was a very new experience for me.

My tutor, Susan Gammage, was highly professional, exceptionally qualified, patient and very supportive, even when I thought I may just quit. Susan’s ability to explain things that I did not understand clearly and her ability to share her extensive knowledge was impressive! I have copious pages of notes and resource links that I continue to access today. The lesson plans were very detailed.

With respect to Job Placement, I was a little disappointed, but this may be because, due to personal circumstances and family issues, I am strictly limited to teaching only in an online capacity at this time.

I will also say that the first employer that hired me, Learn-E-World, was disingenuous with the assertions they made with respect to pay and scheduling. The lesson there is to shop around. There are other/better companies to work for.

In closing, the ITTO representative, Treisi and my assigned tutor, Susan proved to be dedicated and supportive of my goal. I recommend without any reservation both the TEFL program and TBE (Teaching Business English) program.

I started online course with ITTO on May 2013, and at last, I graduated on February 2014. Even though it nearly took me many months to finish it but it was all worth it. My tutor, Mary Ann was amazing and she was with me all the way through my course. If I didn’t understand any of my assignments, she’ll explained to me to an extent. Besides her being amazing tutor, she was patient with me and gave me so much motivation.

I also want to include with the help I’m getting with some advice about job placement, always there to give me answers. Since I just graduated, I’m looking forward to achieve my journey to be in Spain. I’m actually in contact with this Institute to where I’ll be volunteering in Spain hopefully before the end of the year. Time will tell when I’m actually there hoping while I’m there, another opportunity will arise or be knocking.

This has been one of my goals that I’ve been wanting to meet to be a Certified English Teacher. I’m so glad that I took this opportunity with ITTO to where I would highly recommend to anyone. I’ve checked so many online courses out there prior enrolling myself with ITTO, but I felt a bit skeptical what they have to offer. So when I found ITTO, my heart was telling me better take this course with ITTO; very good intuition.

It is an exciting stage for me right now because I have just completed the 140-hour Online TEFL Certificate course. I have some experience teaching English but lack the formal training to do so. Taking this course in ITTO has certainly increased my confidence in teaching English. ITTO has provided an effective online platform and course guidelines that allow me, an online user from a tropical island, to study and be in touch with my tutor from Canada. Susan is instrumental in my studies through her constructive feedback and encouragement. As I wait for my certificate, I can only extend my warmest greetings to everyone at ITTO. I highly recommend ITTO to those who are thinking of teaching English but have no formal training yet. It is worth the time and effort.

If I had to sum up my experience with ITTO online in one word it would be: Life-changing.

But luckily, I don’t have to. I was living in America working by the hour when my dad ran the idea of Teaching English as a Foreign Language abroad. At first, I was hesitant. I thought it sounded a little far-fetched.

A few months down the road, I said “what the heck? I’ll give it a go.”

I did the 120 hour course. My tutor was EXCELLENT. I would recommend her to anyone. Her name is Mary Ann Moore. She always responded promptly and I felt that she was always on my side. She truly wanted me to excel.

After completing the course I received my TEFL certificate and recommendation letter immediately.

Since then I’ve lived in two countries teaching English as a foreign language. I’ve lived comfortably and met many interesting people.

Am I happy I did this course? Absolutely.

Would I recommend this course to anyone who wants to travel while at the same time making a living? Absolutely.

As the saying goes, “better late than never”. I took my course at the end of 2010 & finished in Mid 2011. Just didn’t have the opportunity to write & publish my review on this forum back then. It was very satisfactory for me. My tutor was prompt in responding to my tasks with very accurate comments. Her name was Maribel Boender. She’s Mexican. She supported me thru out the course. With my certification, I was able to work in a couple of establishment on short term basis but nonetheless, I acquired more experience along the way.

In conclusion, you folks form a formidable team of experts & I can only wish you the best in all your future endeavours.
