I decided to do a TEFL course because teaching abroad has been my lifetime ambition and before having discovered the course I hadn`t thought that there was any possibility I would ever do it because I`m not a native English speaker. Now with the TEFL certificate, I can look for a job abroad, which means I`m finally starting to approach my goal.
I chose TEFL Academy and studied their Level 5 TEFL Course (168 hrs). The course was absolutely great, I enjoyed every minute of it. All the information was clear, substantial and carefully structured, there were lots of interactive practice exercises and links to useful sites and resources. I particularly enjoyed the sections about different approaches to ELT, course planning and using authentical materials.
The unit tests provided opportunities to check what was actually learned and filled me with a sense of achievement. The tree assignments seemed incredibly complex at first and I was really scared and even doubted my ability to complete them, but there were a lot of guidance and detailed explanations for every single task that I actually did everything well and got a Distinction mark, which is still a source of a great joy and excitement for me.
Unfortunately, I didn`t have an opportunity to teach a real class but I`m sure that now I have all the necessary tools to feel confident and well-prepared when I have to do it in my future job.
I gained a lot of knowledge and experience doing this course, and can`t wait for applying for my dream job.
