The one and only Language House TEFL in Prague is one of the most popular and beloved TEFL certification companies in the world. With over 20 years in operation, many of their staff have been working for the organization for over a decade. Since its establishment, TLH has strived to create a TEFL certification school that not only includes some of the most rigorous training possible, but also all of the logistical and community support for their graduates to thrive. As of 2024, they have graduated over 3000 successful teachers from their program.

The Language House TEFL is not just a training center, but a network of staff and graduates in Prague and abroad who help and support each other years after graduation. When you sign up for The Language House TEFL, you are not just getting a TEFL certificate; you are entering into a supportive community of staff and graduates who become almost like a second family. This support includes making friends abroad, finding jobs, support with accommodation, and everything in between to aid in your success.

This is one of the more intensive courses you can find. Their website and socials are filled with pics of their trainees having fun in their new home, but make no mistake, The Language House TEFL is an extremely rigorous course. After completion, you will graduate a skilled and competent teacher. They also offer online and blended TEFL courses for those who cannot make it to Prague.

I took the Language House TEFL course last month, and it was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Their instruction and support were truly impressive. Upon completion of this course, you will be trained and competent to teach English as a foreign language to a diverse range of students. As part of this course, you teach nine-hour-long lessons and two hour long one on one lessons. Every week, you teach three classes of one CEFR level. This means that you end up teaching a wide variety of students who come from various backgrounds and age ranges. This course is a little bit more expensive than others. But you truly get value for money. The course focuses on the E.S.A methodology of teaching, and you follow this in your lesson instruction. Later in the course, you are informed about different teaching methods and how you can adopt the E.S.A structure in your future teaching career. Overall, though, this course is not for the faint-hearted. If you want to be a competent teacher than this is the course for you. But don’t expect it to be easy. It was hard. Long days and lots of studying. But they push you because they want their students to be able to leave the language course and teach well! I would say with confidence the Language House of Prague has got to be one of the highest quality in-person TEFL courses in Europe, if not in the world. Their experience and know how was outstanding. In addition to the practical elements of the course. They really help with social life. I now have amazing friends in Prague from the language house. They organise events and get-togethers during and after the course, and you truly feel incorporated into their family upon graduation. Overall i would highly recommend the Language House. It has given me the opportunity now to live and work in a city I have always loved. H

I was not prepared for how intensive and comprehensive my TEFL course at TLH was. I taught for years in a post graduate setting and wish I’d received a fraction of the teaching methodology instruction for that role that TLH provides. The required practice teaching built into the course was a huge help in boosting confidence and working out kinks. The class component, while rigorous, was always engaging, fun, and didn’t feel like work in the moment. On top of all that, TLH will help you secure a visa, housing, job, and everything else you need to live in Prague. At the onsite job fair, it was clear employers have the utmost confidence in soon-to-be TLH grads. I was skeptical that TLH also comes with a built-in local community, but it’s true. TLH grads are a tight-knit group.

TLH is the best TEFL course in Prague. It gives you all the skills you need to tackle any teaching format. There’s even a fun community of teachers outside of the program. It’s a must for foreigners looking to teach in Prague.

Really incredible program, best quality teachers and extremely thorough. This isn’t just your average TEFL certification program. It’s so much more than that and one thing I really love is the community I gained through The Language House. 10/10 will be recommending them everywhere I go for people who want to expand their horizons and teach abroad.

The course is more informative (and more intense) than I expected. After the first week, expect long days!

Everyone on the TLH team is great. They are all very friendly, helpful and transparent. They do a really great job making the course enjoyable.

Although it is only a four-week course, they do pack a lot into it. The most important part in my opinion is the teaching practice. You are exposed to English learners of three different levels (one level each week). The lessons you prepare can be reviewed by a staff member, and then you receive feedback from an observer at the end of the lesson. You are also required to teach one-on-one lessons as part of the course.

They have a job fair during the course, which is great. They provide you with access to other positions that are available (you receive access after graduating) through an online group, which I personally found more useful; it’s also how I found work fairly quickly.

As for the visa process, that is out of the school’s hands, but they do connect you with a service (you pay separately for it) that is 100% worth it.

There is a world of difference between speaking fluent English and knowing how to teach it, using excellent grammar and being able to explain how it works. The Language House is a rigorous, challenging and surprisingly fun TEFL program, led by extremely talented teachers who, with every lesson, model the techniques students learn to become engaging, competent teachers of English.

The Language House instructors have ingenious ways of getting trainees to move outside their comfort zone, take chances, get silly, and use drama and nonverbal techniques to make learning English a vivid, immersive experience for students.

Students at TLH begin teaching real students almost immediately, applying what is taught in the real world so that the methodology sticks. Because the course is so challenging (lots of homework and lesson planning!), it is also a bonding experience with fellow students. I hadn’t anticipated how much I’d relish being part of my cohort of students. It’s nice, too, that the school is located in the heart of the city. Unlike most of my class, I’m not staying in Prague and I sure will miss my Language House family. Luckily, I carry the lessons and memories with me.

I was extremely impressed with The Language House, from their communication and clear guidance to the teaching practice and grammar preparation—in my case, a much-needed refresher. The course was quite intense, especially since I already live in Prague and have a family, so it took up a significant amount of my time with its four weeks of non-stop learning and teaching. However, I have to say it was worth it and incredibly valuable.

All the teachers and instructors involved are outstanding and have such terrific personalities, which really helped to put me at ease and made the course enjoyable. The teaching practice of actually instructing a class was daunting, but it was definitely manageable and highly recommended. Again, all the teachers and instructors were extremely helpful.

I secured a job within a week of finishing the course, and it’s conveniently close to my home. I highly recommend The Language House—an amazing group with a great sense of humor.

First of all, this was a completely new experience (getting this sort of certification) for me. Therefore, I had a lot of doubts about it. And what no other course I was interested in attending had, in this particular one, was the customer service and that is what made me have complete confidence in TLH.

I can’t say any cons for this. I mean, you know what you are paying for, you feel like home having all these attention and of course the help. If you are fully committed to completing this course, everything you need will be available for you to make it happen.

Such lovely people right here. That’s something I wouldn’t recommend passing up. If I had to take the course again, I would definitely ask more questions and have better time management in order to ask for more guidance/assistance with my lessons and the theory.

Seriously, if you are hesitating to take the opportunity, contact the school, you can talk directly with Chris (the director) and he will be happy to answer all your questions. He welcomes you as if you were at home.
