First of all, this was a completely new experience (getting this sort of certification) for me. Therefore, I had a lot of doubts about it. And what no other course I was interested in attending had, in this particular one, was the customer service and that is what made me have complete confidence in TLH.

I can’t say any cons for this. I mean, you know what you are paying for, you feel like home having all these attention and of course the help. If you are fully committed to completing this course, everything you need will be available for you to make it happen.

Such lovely people right here. That’s something I wouldn’t recommend passing up. If I had to take the course again, I would definitely ask more questions and have better time management in order to ask for more guidance/assistance with my lessons and the theory.

Seriously, if you are hesitating to take the opportunity, contact the school, you can talk directly with Chris (the director) and he will be happy to answer all your questions. He welcomes you as if you were at home.

I graduated from law school in 2020 and practiced for a bit before deciding that I’d rather travel and teach but, naturally, I was worried about spending thousands of dollars on a bs course. This is NOT a bs course. I was at school from 9am-8pm either in class, lesson planning, or instructing real adults in a real classroom. I spent a fair amount of time during the weekends doing homework or preparing for the next week. I feel like I’m a pretty smart guy and The Language House challenged me more than I thought it would. They demand a lot from their students and I couldn’t be happier.

The instructors all have decades of experience in teaching and know how to deliver academically rigorous content in a fun and engaging way. While the course is tough (don’t expect to do a lot of tourist stuff or partying), the staff and alumni go out of their way to introduce you to Prague and make sure you’re having a good time. They also provide a ton of support with finding jobs, accommodations, and getting your visa. I would absolutely take this course again and would recommend it to anyone interested in getting a TEFL, even if you don’t plan on staying in the Czech Republic.

I moved to Prague in April this year and did the TEFL course at The Language House. It was an enjoyable and busy month. There was plenty of work and learning to be done and we had some crazy fun along the way. The content of the course and its delivery were good. All the staff were friendly and helpful and I received plenty of constructive criticism. TLH provided support with living in Prague and I made friends with others on the course. I am now working in Prague as an English teacher and enjoying being here.

I attended The Language House back in January of 2017 and am still here in Prague. The course was vital to starting my life abroad and learning how to teach English. As a native speaker I knew English but they showed us how to TEACH it and explain it which opened my eyes. They made connecting with people here in Prague easier also you are part of a community and there are power in numbers. Their Facebook group can offer everything from recommendations from other TLH alum about dentist in Prague to items for sale to job opportunities. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this program and experience.

The Language House was not just a course. It was a family. A family of current and former students. The course was hard but so worth it. I researched many courses and The Language House seemed to offer the most. It did not disappoint. From the moment I contacted Chris about wanting to take the course to know that I am working they have been there every step of the way. Oh and did I mention I’m 60 years old. The Language House is the place to go. And, Prague is a beautiful city.

Recent ish grad of the course here (october 2021).

TLH preps you for teaching, that’s definitely true. I honestly have no complaints about the content of the course and felt like I knew everything I needed to when going into teaching. However, since COVID, there is less of a TLH community here (not much of an alumni network). Know that if you come here hoping to gain a social network solely through TLH, that you’ll quickly recognize the need to branch out elsewhere. The good thing about this city, though, is that it’s easy to make friends. I’ve made most of mine through hobbies.

That’s not to say you won’t make friends through TLH. You will. What I’m trying to warn potential TLH students of is that my course in particular was a mixed bag. TLH doesn’t really give guidance as far as branching out in Prague socially is concerned, so you have to be independent if you want to thrive here, especially if your course group was like mine. (I did meet some really wonderful people on my course, though. Again, a mixed bag.)

Another thing. The last week of my course had to be held online because someone tested positive for COVID, so we missed out on a few things other courses got to do, and we were also kind of guinea pigs as far as an online version of TLH was concerned. Be aware that having a week or so online is a possibility, and for us it was kind of a mess. Hence why I rated the practice teaching portion as “fair.”

***Also, DO NOT believe it when they tell you the visa process is a breeze compared to other countries!!!!!*** They sold me that bill of goods but it’s been an absolutely god awful, insanely ridiculous and time consuming process for me. Yes TLH is partnered with someone to help you through applying and everything but they have no control over what happens with your application. You can’t even hire a lawyer to help you out if you need one — it’s not like the US. So do NOT let TLH try to sell you on how easy they make the visa process. I can’t even begin to articulate how horrible it’s been for me, and it honestly has put a huge damper on my entire experience in Europe.

Overall, if you’re looking to learn how to be an English teacher, TLH is a very good bet. If you’re looking for a safety net, maybe try somewhere else.

I am a recent graduate of the Language House and I could not be happier with my experience. The pre-course guidance made me feel confident and comfortable making such a drastic life-change. The course has an incredible staff who are all extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. The course is quite intense, but it has throughly prepared me for anything that I might encounter in the workplace. The post-course job guidance is also incredibly helpful. There are multiple posts daily about job openings with honest reviews. The majority of my class found jobs within 1-2 weeks. And lastly, the community that the Language House has built is incredible. Moving across the world can get lonely, but it’s comforting to know that I’ll always have the Language House community there for me. If you’re on the fence, just take the leap! The Language House will catch you with open and loving arms.

I am so thankful that I chose The Language House for my TEFL program. I did not imagine how useful the course would be and how prepared I would feel for teaching in the “real world” after completing the course. I learned so much and got a ton of practice student teaching. It is scary to teach for the first time if you have never done it before but the staff and all of my classmates were so supportive and encouraging. It makes it so much easier and more enjoyable!

The staff truly want you to succeed and put in so much effort to helping every student in the course. The classes in the course are all so valuable and full of information that I still use in teaching my lessons after the course. TLH also does a great job of forming a wonderful community in each of their courses. I became such good friends with everyone in group and am still friends with them after the course. It truly is like finding a family abroad! TLH also gives so much extra assistance in finding housing, getting a visa, transport passes, and much more. They make they experience so much fun, even though it is a very intense course. You will definitely work hard, but TLH also provides some fun hangouts and makes class time very fun and engaging!

The Language House is perfectly named. A house of love, acceptance, guidance, and encouragement. A house that is a home to thousands of students around the globe. In today’s world, it is difficult to get excited about anything. We fear scams. We fear being taken advantage of. We fear taking risks. We fear new social situations. We fear not getting the biggest bang for our buck. In other words, we live in a chronic state of fear. Well, fear not. I am not a robot. I am not a faculty or staff member or a relative of the founder. I am a real live TLH alumni who can vouch for this priceless gem.

The Language House has something for everyone. The instructors are no-nonsense but human. They are knowledgeable and hold students to high standards. Interestingly enough, there is still an atmosphere of camaraderie and mutual respect. The instructors are always willing to offer a helping hand before or after class. There are even optional weekend tutoring sessions/courses. The student teaching experiences are incredibly useful and builds on the knowledge and experience of each participant. The weekend excursions brought our eclectic family together and allowed us to build memories for a lifetime.

The Language House does it all and makes international travel easy. Housing, transportation, cell phones, grocery shopping, visas, all the little things that occupy our minds when imagining the unimaginable. TLH helps with every step of the process. From teaching conversational Czech and actually taking us to a supermarket to giving us maps and explaining the public transportation system. You are in able hands. Warm hands. The Language House is filled with great educators but more importantly great people. TLH requires a good balance of life skills. You will certainly have a great time but need to be disciplined enough to know when to reel in the good times to tighten up on school work.

The Language House has helped me immensely both personally and professionally. I am honored to have been part of such an amazing program. I met people from around the world and experienced having roommates for the first time in my life, :-).

Whether you enjoy dancing, karaoke, inexpensive adult beverages, beautiful architecture, or historic sites, Prague has something for you. More importantly, TLH treats their participants like honored guests. No matter how much beauty is around you, those in poor company will never truly enjoy their experience to the fullest. Have no fear, TLH is here. Their tour guides are one-of-a-kind. Authentic, down-to-Earth funny, and caring. I love the Language House. Without a doubt, my summer with The Language House was the best experience of my life. TLH gave me my wings and now, it’s my time to fly.

If you’re looking for something different or just a little something more out of your life, consider giving The Language House a shot!

This place is not a TEFL program that just churns out graduates like a factory and then forgets about them as soon as they graduate. The owner and staff of The Language House have built a COMMUNITY, unlike one that I have ever been apart of.

Every TEFL program you have/will look into will advertise amazing curricula, lesson planning, and so many hours practice teaching. It’s hard to find a place though that will support you every step of the way. TLH set you up with student housing, transport passes, Visa help (if you’re staying in Prague), TONS of job opportunities, and an orientation that helps you get to know the city, culture, and your peers. It’s the little things like these that made TLH stand out to me. I also never knew that I’d make so many close friends, from my classmates to the staff. Whatever you’re hesitance may be with taking an onsite TEFL course abroad, just ask yourself what you’d be getting out of a month staying at home versus taking the course. Prague is an amazing place to get you’re footing and The Language House has a vast network of alumni that can help you out as soon as you graduate!
