The one and only Language House TEFL in Prague is one of the most popular and beloved TEFL certification companies in the world. With over 20 years in operation, many of their staff have been working for the organization for over a decade. Since its establishment, TLH has strived to create a TEFL certification school that not only includes some of the most rigorous training possible, but also all of the logistical and community support for their graduates to thrive. As of 2024, they have graduated over 3000 successful teachers from their program.

The Language House TEFL is not just a training center, but a network of staff and graduates in Prague and abroad who help and support each other years after graduation. When you sign up for The Language House TEFL, you are not just getting a TEFL certificate; you are entering into a supportive community of staff and graduates who become almost like a second family. This support includes making friends abroad, finding jobs, support with accommodation, and everything in between to aid in your success.

This is one of the more intensive courses you can find. Their website and socials are filled with pics of their trainees having fun in their new home, but make no mistake, The Language House TEFL is an extremely rigorous course. After completion, you will graduate a skilled and competent teacher. They also offer online and blended TEFL courses for those who cannot make it to Prague.

Taking this course was sort of a last-minute idea for me. I really didn’t know what I was getting into! I will say that after the course, I truly felt prepared to teach English in Prague; my experience and training also prepared me for interviews and helped me get hired.

It was intense and a lot was packed into a short amount of time. Be prepared! It is hard to absorb all that is taught, but I found that as my year of teaching unfolded, some golden nuggets from the course surfaced to help me out.

This particular school also helped with building community, developing a network and creating lasting friendships which are all very important tasks when taking on a new venture in an unfamiliar city and environment.

Highly, highly recommend!

I’m so happy I chose The Language House! They have an amazing, supportive staff that is always available to provide help and advice when needed. When it came time to graduate I was confident that I had all the necessary skills to teach students at various levels. I never expected to enjoy teaching so much, but The Language house created a fun environment and taught me how to create interesting, engaging lessons for my students.

I came to TLH with a TEFL certificate already and immediately realized that the quality of this course far exceeded the training that I had received. I ended up paying extra to stay for all of the workshops and I am so happy that I did. I came out of the course feeling far more qualified and confident than I did before.

Not only that, TLH is an amazing and widespread community of people that care not only about education, but also about how each individual is adjusting to life abroad. They have provided help and guidance in many areas and I feel like I can always count on them to help if I need it.

I would recommend this course without hesitation!

I took the TEFL course in March and brought my family (husband and 2 kids) with me. The family aspect was challenging but TLH helped us every step of the way. Even after the course, the staff was always available to answer questions and help. I highly recommend TLH if you’re considering taking a TEFL course.

I couldn’t be happier with my experience at The Language House! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and not only do they make sure that you are prepared to teach, they also go out of their way to ensure that you meet people, make friends, and generally feel like a part of the community. My only regret is not taking the leap into TEFL sooner as the experience so far has been amazing. I highly recommend The Language House to anyone who has been thinking about teaching ESL abroad!

I took The Language House’s TEFL course in April 2015. I’d been to the Czech Republic before and knew that I wanted to come back, but wasn’t really sure what avenue to take as a way back in. I’m a natural skeptic of things that sound too good to be true, and The Language House made some pretty large claims about their success and support with past students. However, from the moment I signed up, they made themselves personally responsible for the wellbeing of every person involved in their course. Facebook updates, emails, phone calls- whatever it was, The Language House helped make sure everyone was eased into what would otherwise be a stressful transition. The entire staff is educated and responsible, and also cares about the success of every student enrolled in the course. Having lived here for six months, I have been continually supported since graduating and am completely comfortable going to anyone for help or advice. I should point out that I rarely even need said advice, because as soon as I was on my own in Prague I found an excellent job using the skills I learned during the course. I couldn’t be happier with the decision I made to move here, and wholeheartedly recommend anyone that’s on the fence about making the leap to do so. I’m happier, more confident, always busy (in a good way), and never have to worry about life being boring. If you want to make something out of your life, Prague will feed back everything you put into it. If you’re on the border of whether or not to sign up at The Language House, then in my opinion you’ve already decided on a “yes”. It’s up to you to follow through with it.

The Language House TEFL in Prague offer a great course which exceeds the minimum standards offered in some more well known courses. The course itself is also really fun and engaging. The instructors run interesting and entertaining lessons while still teaching a lot of information. The course is intensive, and lesson planning can feel daunting at times, but the instructors are often available to assist with lesson planning during the course. I would definitely highly recommend this course to anyone who is considering becoming qualified as an ESL/EFL teacher.

I completed my TEFL certification at The Language House a year ago and am still enjoying life in Prague because of it. The course is intensive but extremely helpful in so many ways. TLH not only helps with preparing you to teach, but also provides you with job assistance, advice on where and how to find an apartment, the easiest/cheapest way to get your visa, and connects you with a community of people who will most likely become your lifelong friends. I highly recommend The Language House.

Studying at TLH in Prague has been one of the best decisions of my life. It can be pretty intimidating to move abroad, but the TLH community is so large and they really welcome everyone. As soon as I sent in my application, Chris Westergaard (TLH’s owner) emailed me back minutes later, added me to the TLH facebook page, and also added me as a friend. He and other TLH staff members were there through the entire initial process, answering all of my questions and helping me to prepare. TLH offers so much guidance before, during, and after the course. Even after graduation, you are a “lifetime” member, and are connected via a large facebook group to 10 years worth of alums. You can ask general questions, find out about jobs, and just meet new people. The course itself was well-structured, with PLENTY of teaching practice and lesson planning, that you really are fully prepared to teach immediately. The staff and teachers couldn’t be better; they really make the course a ton of fun and you can see their enjoyment reflected in everyone that takes the course. I would highly recommend TLH in Prague to anyone who wants to become TEFL certified, live in a beautiful city, absolutely have a job afterwards (you’ll easily find something either during the course itself or by a few days after you graduate), and be a part of a loving community who knows how to have fun.

Going here helped me get acclimated to teaching English as a Foreign Language and to life in Prague. They go out of their way to help you get started, and do whatever they can to assist you. You will learn the basics of what it takes to be a good English teacher as well as some tips and tricks that you probably wouldn’t get elsewhere. They also have an unparalleled social network. Whether you are looking to shake up your life or wanting a jumping off point towards teaching TEFL as a career, the Language House is a good bet.
