I recently completed the 120-hour TEFL certification with TEFL Org and found the coursework to be thorough, practical, and well-designed. The lessons provided a strong foundation in grammar instruction, lesson planning, and classroom strategies, which helped me feel genuinely prepared to start teaching. Though the methodology course was the most challenging, it was also the most beneficial course.

My only frustration was the turnaround time for tutor feedback—while the feedback itself was helpful and detailed, delays often left me feeling stuck and anxious to move forward. I explained to him after I finished the course that I was laid off six months ago and was anxious to start applying for ESL jobs but needed the certification to do so. Nearly a week after finishing the five courses, with only two revised lesson assignments waiting for further feedback or approval, I was left wondering if my tutor had gone on vacation. I realize I wasn’t his only student, and I was probably not the only one with a situation like mine, but communication from him would have saved a lot of stress and anxiety.

Overall, I would still recommend the program for anyone serious about teaching ESL, with the hope that future students experience more timely support.

I did the 200 hour Course with 4 units – Grammar, Teaching Methodology, Teaching Telephone Classes and Teaching Large Classes.

Firstly I would like to say that I think this is an excellent course especially for the price.

I was a little sceptical at first because initially I would have liked to do a CELTA course but I really could not afford it. TEFL.org courses are comparitively very affordable so I was not sure what quality to expect given the price differential between TEFL.org and CELTA (as one example).

However, I been impressed on every level…..

The course content is well rounded and comprehensive, the standard of work expected for assignments is high and well managed with excellent interaction and feedback with a designated tutor and overall, I really feel I have learned a huge amount on this course. Also the videos of teachers working or instructing are excellent and have been a huge help. I know unlike CELTA, there is no built in opportunity to teach real classes but there are a lot of resources and teaching aids and tips on the TEFL.org website which go a long way to help boost confidence.

Overall, I am very very pleased with the TEFL course and resources. Thank you so much.

I attended the 2 day weekend course in Manchester last weekend, my instructor was Meryl.

I can’t say how amazing Meryl was! She instantly made everybody feel comfortable and was so helpful and engaging. I was really nervous for this weekend and I don’t think it could have gone any better thanks to Meryl.

The content of the weekend itself was engaging and highly interactive, making the very long days doable- I would happily do this course 10 times over!

I actually learnt a lot of things despite having almost completed the online learning, I feel my confidence as a hopeful teacher has become much higher after the weekend course.

In terms of job assistance I am yet to know whether the assistance is there but Meryl made sure to assist as much as she could having got to know our plans over the weekend.

By Sunday evening I think everyone in the room felt a bit emotional as we had all got to know each other so well and now we are off to put things into action- really impressed.

My only reservation of the Tefl franchise was in the marketing to an older male. I was definitely mislead by a very inexperienced promoter like she was in a call centre in England somewhere. She neither had the wherewithal how a more candid tone with empathy, a sales tool, sells better than a flakey monologue pitch. Since, I had no choice then. I certainly would think twice next time.

She has cost the Tefl Company a lost future investment and one has to ask, can the company afford this on a daily basis. And all because she didn’t realise that someone who takes the time to to expand on the disadvantages, as older male trying to ascertain from her if I can actually find employment from doing this course. All her responses where an excited Yes.

It is not quite a 18months since I have graduated. My advise to other males around their fifties and sixties, be warned This is definitely not an industry that easy to secure employment with nor is the Tefl.org likely to follow up with you after your investment in their company.

Great TEFL classroom weekend course. Excellent information shared in regards to teaching students in the classroom and very useful practical sessions on managing and organising classroom courses. Would highly recommend this course for anyone wishing to teach students of any age and language level.

Can not rate job assistance yet but we did talk about ways of finding a job and received a LoR on the following day.

In my group we all had different plans and it seemed to cater for all.

A good introduction to the profession.

For me the only issue was the teaching practice in pairs. I think individual teaching would be better – pairing adds unnecessary pressure. However I understand the time restriction on a 2 day course.

Maybe you should not squeeze so much into 2 days, just do 3 days (or more)?

Despite this, I can recommend it to anyone interested, I enjoyed it.

What a wonderful introduction to the world of TEFL! I’m new to teaching and the self-paced online course provided a comprehensive overview on lesson planning and teaching methodologies. It’s a lot of information but the structure of the course is easy to follow.

The highlight of the course was the virtual classroom experience with Simon. He had great energy, perceptive feedback, and patience with students’ technical difficulties on Zoom. My only suggestion for improvement is limiting the class size to 8 or 9 students. We were pressed for time in delivering our practice lessons.

Overall, I finished the course much more confident in my teaching abilities and even more excited to start my TEFL journey!
