At the beginning I want to apologise for writing this review pretty late. I’ve been pretty busy with work and other activities outside of it.

Joanne did amazing job in my opinion. Since the very first zoom session she was extremely thorough, managed to cover all of the topics that she wanted to and at the same time she was very understanding and nice. This whole experience of learning how to teach is completely new thing for me. And even though it is, it hasn’t felt that way. We covered up everything from “eliciting questions”, through “different approaches”, up until “organising time in the class so students won’t get bored”. Like, for me it was always about teaching kids, because, I always had good contact with them and because I’m a little musical I can use that as my superpower 😁. Anyway, I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to start to teach no matter how much experience he/she has. It’s important to challenge ourselves further to become the best version of ourselves.

So, thanks so much for this great 4days, thanks to Joanne I got a bit different perspective on everything, especially that at the beginning I was scared like a little girl and now I just feel more at ease that I don’t have to be perfect because at the end of the day we are all human beings and we all learn from our mistakes. Take care everyone and stay golden! 💕

I loved the course. Me and my boyfriend both completed it but unfortunately had very different experiences with our tutors. My tutor was absolutely terrible and extremely difficult to please. Me and my boyfriend would brainstorm assignments together and he would always pass with flying colors where mine were scrutinized for every little detail. It was discouraging and not helpful. I would have had a better experience had my tutor been more competent and precise with his feedback. I dreaded assignments because of him and felt like I did not get as much from them. Tefl is great just make sure your tutor is good and helpful.

Joanne was a genuine pleasure to work with, very helpful and informative and could answer any questions that I had revolving my teaching style as well as letting me know some of her own tricks of the trade.

Great course in general.

I completed the Teaching Online Practice course with TEFL Org. The whole course exceeded my expectations. Our group was small so each of us had a chance to deliver two lessons. Kirsty gave us great guidance and lots of useful inputs on how to prepare and teach a lesson, as well as many tricks on how to really use Zoom. Her comments and advice were so appropriate, very useful, but not overwhelming. The time management of the course was top class, as there was a lot to cover in just six hours. It was organised really well. I enjoyed it and have learnt so much. I would highly recommend this course.

I thought that the class and course were well done and actually had great material. Kirsty was a fun and interactive teacher who i felt comfortable and confident learning from. She taught us alot and made alot more things clearer to understand, I’d definitely recommend her to anyone to learn from with using zoom and teaching practice.

My only comment would be that I wish their was more time to practice and have feedback. It felt like 2 hours was not enough to ask or be given advice especially with 6 students. It would have been nice to have an extra 30 mins for discussion and questions at the end of each session. I think Kirsty did an amazing job as our tutor with her guidance and feedback.

The online course was well organised and structured. I particularly liked the clarity of the speaking in the videos, very precise, sometimes short but very focus on the TL. The methodology course is the module I enjoyed the most especially the ‘student centred’ approach similar to the ‘client centred’ approach in psychotherapy.

For the virtual classroom, I would have preferred the real class. Joanne’s two days teaching were very good. She was well organised and the lessons were well structured. She also put into practice the ‘student centred’ approach and managed quiet well between the TTT and the STT.

Nevertheless, we have had time to time some technical issues related to the online course. The virtual practice teaching could be very challenging for the reading skill when the reading text and the questions are not on the same slide of the PowerPoint. Students might not remember the answers to the questions.

In general, I enjoyed this combined course and I recommend it to anyone who intents to undertake the beautiful journey towards TEFL. I think it is more than a career, it is vocation.

The virtual classroom gave a good idea of what to expect when teaching in the classroom. Brushing up on how to lesson plan the PPP structure and the Skills based lesson plan. This was a good ending to what had been learnt online.

Some of the feedback I received online was expected and this reminded me of what I needed to work on and caused additional learning for classroom preparation.

The lesson plans were clear and were a useful guide as to how to carry some of the ideas to the classroom. It was challenging going over a lesson plan again after some key points had been missed out but this also allowed for greater creativity; with the understanding that this would help in future planning for real classroom preparation.

Sometimes the explaining videos had to be listened to again as I was not sure on the explanation. However I can probably agree that it was my interpretation; unless of course others note the same issue.

The resources were very helpful and allowed for coming up with new ideas.

The instructor, Kirsty, was very nice and encouraging. She created a safe space that made it feel natural to practice teaching. The feedback I received from Kirsty and the other students was constructive and helpful. I feel like my teaching skills improved from the course.

The course was organized into a lecture & demonstration day, followed by two days of teaching practice. The lecture and samples presented the assignments and broke down the topic into reasonable parts. Later, our homework was to prepare and teach both a grammar lesson and a skills lesson. It was a much-needed opportunity to practice and it was ideal to practice with other teacher trainees … takes the pressure off!

Thoroughly enjoyed my experience with the online teaching practice and I am feeling much more confident after having participated in it. The only thing I would comment on is that before participating in this section of the course I really didn’t know what kind I was in for. I think more explanation as to what is expected of you and what the course is like before participating in it would be of good use to those participating. Other than that it was a very good experience and I am glad I did it.
