Description
Maximo Nivel’s award winning TEFL Certification Program is a thorough and practical introduction to Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). During the 150-hours 4-week course, you become familiar with the principles of successful ESL teaching and you develop real-world skills to be an effective English teacher. The TEFL program focuses on practical teaching, lesson planning, classroom management, and more. The training program includes 100 hours of in-class instruction, 35 hours of required reading and written assignments, and 15 hours of observation and practical teaching.
Practical teaching is the heart of the TEFL Certification program. You begin teaching mini-lessons in week 1 and continue throughout the course. There are also various, short workshops where you practice specific teaching techniques and strategies. The TEFL course also includes 6 hours where you observe experienced ESL teachers leading their classes. In the final week of the TEFL course, you take over a live English class with real, non-native students, and teach 60-minute lessons for 5 days, during which you are observed and coached by your TEFL Trainer. In all you will have 15 hours of practical teaching and observation during the course.

I opted for the Hybrid TEFL course which meant I did a lot of the theory prior to arriving in Cusco, before spending 2 weeks in person doing the practical aspects.
This course from the outset has been organised so well. The online content was clear to understand with a variety mini quizzes and longer answers at the end of each module.
The in person 2 weeks have been great! I’ve been able to use a lot of the theory based skills learned and apply them in a practical sense, starting with mini lessons leading up to the Practical Teaching Week.
The team here at Maximo are all fab, however I do need to shout out the TEFL instructor Sean. He clearly enjoys what he’s doing and that translates through the classes. He gives fair and constuctive feedback and is always avaliablenor any help you need. With this level of support my confidence when teaching has definitely improved.
If you are considering doing the TEFL course I would 100% recommend doing it with Maximo whether that’s 4 weeks in person or Hybrid.
