Description
Maximo Nivel’s award winning TEFL Certification Program is a thorough and practical introduction to Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). During the 150-hours 4-week course, you become familiar with the principles of successful ESL teaching and you develop real-world skills to be an effective English teacher. The TEFL program focuses on practical teaching, lesson planning, classroom management, and more. The training program includes 100 hours of in-class instruction, 35 hours of required reading and written assignments, and 15 hours of observation and practical teaching.
Practical teaching is the heart of the TEFL Certification program. You begin teaching mini-lessons in week 1 and continue throughout the course. There are also various, short workshops where you practice specific teaching techniques and strategies. The TEFL course also includes 6 hours where you observe experienced ESL teachers leading their classes. In the final week of the TEFL course, you take over a live English class with real, non-native students, and teach 60-minute lessons for 5 days, during which you are observed and coached by your TEFL Trainer. In all you will have 15 hours of practical teaching and observation during the course.

I loved my TEFL Course. It went by so quickly, but the amount of content that was covered was incredible. We were fully prepared to take on an ESL class with 4 weeks of training. They give you the opportunity to teach lessons and take over courses which is really valuable experience. Additionally, they provide information on how to search for jobs and there are also available positions that open up in the Cusco location, though other parts of the world are definitely more lucrative.
The trainer is one of the Institute’s best assets and was absolutely instrumental in how much I learned.
I loved the Cusco location just because the city is so wonderful and there’s so much to do. It is an intensive course so I would build in time if you’d like to travel, otherwise you are a bit tied down during the course. Also I looked for my own accommodations in the country because I’ve lived here before and I was definitely happy with my choice to do so, but for others homestays are good options
