I sincerely enjoyed my course through ITA. The course content was helpful and interesting and the videos included in each chapter were incredibly useful to me since I had no prior knowledge about teaching ESL. MY instructor gave great feedback on every assignment I submitted so that I could really tell that I was improving throughout the course. I will definitely recommend ITA to anyone interested in TEFL.

Enrolling in ITA was one of the best decisions of my life!

When I first knew of the academy, I was very hesitant and didn’t understand much what it can offer me. After attending their webcast and speaking with Lindsay, my advisor, I was convinced that it was the program I was looking for to jumpstart my lifelong dream of teaching a language.

The course was complete with text and video content and provided additional resources and references. Our teacher, Quinn, was very helpful and gave us insights and full feedback on every chapter task. She also shared her experiences in teaching which helped me paint a better picture of the new career path I’ve taken. I just wished my current work schedule and time zone were not in conflict with the chat and live webinar schedules so that I could have joined them. Still, it was nice that I can just send an e-mail to my teacher for questions and comments and that the webinars were recorded.

Aside from the course itself, that is very helpful in preparing you with your new life as a teacher, there were many realizations that this course has taught me. A lot of the concepts were not only applicable in the classroom but also outside it and made me realize that all these things boil down to respect and with it one’s capability to reach out and understand other individuals. This course also made me celebrate little victories like when I pass a quiz or get a good mark in my tasks. I was very hard on myself but this course made me feel that I am capable of doing things!

So, if you’re thinking of taking this course, stop thinking and just get it. You will not regret it, I promise!

ITA provided me with a comprehensive and efficient TEFL course that has made me feel confident to teach English abroad. The practicum piece requires some extra effort and time management, but it allows for a valuable opportunity to put into practice what is learned throughout the TEFL course. ITA was also a great resource for me while creating professional job search documents, such as my cover letter and resume. Their job search manual and guide were great references for creating these documents, and my student affairs adviser, Erika, was able to give me excellent constructive feedback. I highly recommend ITA’s online TEFL course, as it is a professional, comprehensive, supportive, and engaging experience that has made me feel ready to teach English abroad.

I really enjoyed this online course. Starting out I was very nervous, I would drop every online course that I signed up for in college because I just knew I wouldn’t keep tabs on it and would forget to do the assignments or readings. I surprised myself. I was ahead of the game most of the time and I also really enjoyed each chapter. The videos were my favorite part, it was easy to go back to them and pick up on something I may have missed the first time around. Overall this course was much more satisfying than any schooling I have ever done. There is a goal and an outcome that is almost guaranteed, finish the course and move overseas. Having that goal of moving somewhere beautiful and exciting really kept me going and helped me maintain a positive attitude the whole 11 weeks. I loved this course.

I just finished my class. The layout of the class is straight forward and easy to follow. I feel more prepared to go to a different country and teach. Considering I have no teaching experience, it sure is a confidence boost. The lessons are a good length, extremely doable. The assignments help you develop necessary skills that will help. The resources they give you is astounding!

This class is totally doable working 45 hours a week, which is what I did. I also still had a social life. Time management is key.

I still have to complete my practicum: I will say where I live it is hard to find a place to do my practicum hours. In the practicum section they give you advise and ideas where to start. They also have people you can contact if you are absolutely stuck, which I might do here soon.

I still need to find a job: They have a whole other section dedicated to helping you find a job. I read the job search guideline book, now I need to contact someone and start looking for a job in Japan! I can’t wait!

This is a first class, comprehensive program. ITA has done a wonderful job of putting together a very practical, blended learning experience. The instructor was very knowledgeable and accessible. The course materials were well rounded and had direct application in the real life, ESL/EFL classroom environment. The ITA staff were highly motivated, positive resources that were clearly committed to my success in the program. I highly recommend this course and ITA to anyone interested in teaching ESL/EFL. Taking this course was a wonderful experience!

Overall, TEFL Academy has been a great experience with understanding my role as an ESL teacher. The curriculum gives you specific information to use during Practicum and during your experience overseas such as lesson plan guidance, classroom management, choosing textbooks for your course and creating a student-centered classroom. It was also INTERESTING information. Through this course I was able to learn more about my own preferences as a learner and instructor. I have never felt like I couldn’t reach out to my TEFL Academy teacher or advisor if I ever needed help along this process. However, I haven’t really NEEDED to up until the point of my job search. I think that says a lot about the course and the clarity in what they ask of you. The one thing I do wish TEFL Academy provided more of is direct communication and contact with its students. But again, this could be because I haven’t needed to contact them too many times yet.

I’d encourage anyone to take this course who is looking to travel and make an impact in the places they visit. I know this course has motivated me EVEN MORE to do so!

My overall experience with ITA was a wonderful one. Actually, the best part is knowing that the experience will never end, due to the lifelong continued support (what!). From the first day of looking at their website to the last week of the course, I have had a seamless and supported journey thus far. My initial advisor and current instructor are both awesome, easy-going, and reliable people. The content of the course has a good mix of easy and challenging aspects, which I enjoyed. I received emails when I submitted my assignments and when grades had been posted, making things easier. I would recommend ITA to anyone considering teaching ESL/EFL.

Suggestions –

Incorporate introductions at the beginning of the course for the students and instructor to get to know one another. Maybe an icebreaker!

Consider breaking up chapter six into two different chapters.

I chose to do the online TEFL course. International TEFL Academy’s course was one of the best classes I have ever taken. There are more resources given to you than anything else out there. First, my instructor was one of the most helpful people she gave me so much feedback on anything I turned in. Even though this was an online course I felt that I was supported and given as much attention individually as any in person teacher would. Any questions or concerns I had I was able to comfortably ask and get a response. Next, the actual content itself is wonderful because, you get to create actual lesson plans, activities and rubrics which you can use for your own future class. So technically you already have something to fall back on in the first week of your overseas class. Another great thing about this course is how many resources are readily available from job search guidelines, to practicum location assistance to videos and webinars for each lesson. There are also numerous alumni groups on Facebook and other social media for literally any country you are interested in teaching and it will help you narrow down your next destination even. That was one of the coolest parts I felt that the course had to offer being the alum communities. It made me reaffirm my decision to go along with teaching abroad. And of course last but most certainly not least is the practicum, which is one of the most helpful parts of the course. If you have never taught a class in your entire life and want to it is one of the best ways to get a feel for what its like. Thankfully International TEFL Academy makes it mandatory so you get to practice teaching and observe real ESL teachers doing what you potentially will be doing. I was able to get the jitters and nerves over with being able to teach a few lessons by myself. I ended up loving my class. This is definitely a wonderful class with amazing opportunities and help. You should sign up seriously, do it. International TEFL Academy is one decision you won’t regret!
