This program was very economical as well as thought provoking and challenging. It gave me a good understanding of how to teach proper English to those who speak it as a second language, and helped me improve my English skills.

Overall, a very good program at a very reasonable fee.

I went to ICAL six years ago and it has allowed me to teach English in 4 different countries. I loved it and they didn’t charge me what normal schools usually do. It’s a great way to get a degree on a small budget in what you love doing.

I actually rated ICAL 5 all across the board. I was already teaching in South Korea, but I signed up before I went. The flexibility allowed me to take my time to complete the course. It was almost too good to be true. ICAL is both challenging and inexpensive. As an EFL teacher, the challenging aspect and the easy flow of the modules are extremely beneficial. Teaching will always be challenging and the best way to be prepared is to push yourself in the training process.

I literally have no complaints about ICAL. I thought it was great to have access to the Wiki’s…it’ll keep me engaged, especially once I begin to forget some of the learning material –I could always go back to my PP modules and online wiki to brush up on the knowledge.

I definitely recommend ICAL. The previous reviews already covered everything. The reviews are positive for a good reason… I hope ICAL maintains it’s current business and teaching formula. It’s working!

As a recent college grad, ICAL helped me see a classroom from a teacher’s perspective rather than that of a student. I found the course material challenging and applicable to my work in the classroom. I also appreciated that I could work at my own pace. I started working overtime at my university in China about halfway through the ICAL course and took nearly four months off. When I started back up again, my tutor was helpful and forgave my extended hiatus. My tutor was excellent — his critiques and suggestions were always helpful. In addition, he was quick to respond and had detailed and sincere answers to my questions. The ICAL course helped me to be more prepared and confident in my teaching ability as well as being more aware of my students needs and expectations.

I found the course to be both challenging and stimulating and although I took so long over my assignments that one of my teachers actually retired, this is not of detriment to ICAL – on the contrary, it speaks volumes for their understanding of the needs of ordinary people, who have to combine full-time working with teaching studies, which in order to excel, requires realistic assignment time targets.

The course itself was varied and enlightening. The quality of the teaching methods, forums and back-up materials along with regular newsletters, ensured that every student had not the slightest excuse to to be critical of the tasks required.

I was immensely impressed with the quality of the teachers too and Miri, who guided me through the bulk of the course was extraordinarily good. She never gave me an easy ride but her constructive criticism of some of my work and the lucid way in which she articulated my errors ensured I quickly comprehended where I was going wrong and was able to move on with renewed vigor and conviction.

Where there is a will there is a way as they say, and thanks to ICAL I found it!

Before signing up with ICAL, I researched current understanding and practices in teaching English as a second or foreign language. After comparing the offerings of on-line learning options, the ICAL course seemed to best encompass these theories and practices. The lessons were thorough and covered information one needs to know to enter diverse teaching situations. The assignments were challenging, in that they encourage the student to think and reflect beyond the lessons in developing an understanding of teaching methods, classroom situations, and the very practical side of teaching and being a teacher. My tutor provided excellent feedback on each assignment. She offered thoughtful suggestions to encourage me to consider ways to deepen my understanding and build on knowledge gained throughout the course. I am highly impressed with the response time when I contacted her, especially considering the 9-hour time difference between us.

The modules (I thought of them as “written lectures”) were highly informative, elaborate, and excellently written and organized. The assignments were quite challenging at times, and always systematic and thorough. I feel that I have gained much in engaging and putting effort into them.

My tutor’s critiques and suggestions were invariably measured, helpful, detailed, and incisive. With his guidance, I was able to see stones I left unturned and improve my work considerably in many areas. It was a privilege to work with him.

I am thankful that I discovered and took this gem of an opportunity to study at ICAL.

I am going to travel Asia and teach English as a way to experience the culture and to pay for things while there, so doing a TEFL course was the obvious thing to do. I choose ICAL because of all the great review and didn’t like any of the other TEFL companies. I found the ICAL course to be brilliant, it was definitely challenging, but that is exactly what you need. It opened my eyes to what will actually be like teaching English as a foreign language. After completing the course I feel a million times more prepared to go overseas and teach. You have as much time as you want to finish the course which takes off a lot of pressure. My tutor was great and gave fantastic advice on my assignments. The feedback was always fast and communication between me and ICAL was great. I recommend this course to anyone who is interested in teaching!!!!!

Thanks ICAL, Rich

I did the ICAL TEFL program mainly because its reviews were overwhelmingly positive. I plan to head to Asia teach ESL and wanted to get a better grip on the basics even though I’ve done a lot of tutoring already. I took me about 3 months to finish their course. Overall, the material was very challenging and helpful. However, don’t expect much from the administration or your tutor. What you will get from ICAL is 5 “modules” or sections which you will download, read through, then answer multiple-choice questions about online. Once you “pass” the “checkpoint” you will have an assignment to complete. I have found each assignment very challenging and well tailored to the content of the module. Once you finish your assignment you submit it to your tutor, then they rip it to shreds with snoody criticisms and return it to you for corrections which you must complete before you can proceed to the next module. That was my experience! LAME! My only complaint about the actual content is that it was unexpectedly difficult. I would recommend buying a good grammar book prior to taking their course, unless you remember all that stuff from grade school. Luckily I had some writing books from college that helped get me through or else I would be totally lost. So, my review is mixed. They will respond to your emails quickly and answer all your questions and their course content is pretty good, but you can quickly tell they are a very small operation and not very professional. They are probably the best online TEFL company, but for 265 bucks you really get what you pay for: a piece of paper.

I just completed the TEOFL program after almost one year.

I really appreciated the flexibilty of being able to complete it around my very busy schedule.

My online tutor was great at giving me precious tips and suggestions.

I especially enjoyed appying what I had learned in the classes that I was already giving.

I would (and already have) highly recommend this course to future English teachers.

Good luck! Mike
