I found the ICAL course challenging, interesting, and very helpful.

My Tutor, Ellen, who supported me throughout the course was highly knowledgable, very thorough, and her guidance invaluable. I learned a lot from her detailed feedback

and in depth advice! She encouraged me to be original, expressive, and reflective.

The course provided me with lots of resources, creative ideas, and teaching techniques.

I would recommend this course to anyone who loves teaching and wants to improve

his teaching style. It was truly an engaging, and positive learning experience!

I enjoyed it a lot, and I was motivated in every part of the course!

Thank you so much, Ellen!

Thank you ICAL!

All the best!

I was skeptical about taking a TEFL course online at first, but after taking the ICAL course, it was definitely worth it. I am leaving in a few weeks to teach English as a second language and have no experience behind me what-so-ever. I thought the price was decent, and it was actually after reading the reviews on this website that I decided to choose them as my course provider. I had a slow start at first and had to get the course done finished by a deadline in the end, and my tutor really helped me to have my work graded efficiently and to respond with great feedback too. All together, it probably took me about 3-4 weeks to finish the entire course. The assignments really made me think in a new way, and I had great practice creating lesson plans – something I had never done before and will definitely be doing a lot of in the future. I learned a lot from this course and will definitely be revisiting the resources when I am teaching in the near future!

Great program overall. Very convenient for people in other countries, very well structured, feedback was great, the course was challenging and informative. Very glad to have taken this course. Took me about 7 weeks to complete.

The modules can be quite a challenge. But they’re designed to help you learn techniques not memorize answers. That’s what I believe is one of the most important carateristic about the ICAL course. Its very useful when you actually get out and start teaching.

I started a Masters Course at the University here in Castellon Spain as I was finishing the ICAL course. A lot of the pedagogical techniques were in the classes and they coincided completely with what ICAL was teaching in there modules. I found the content of the course very useful and have used many of the techniques in my English classes.

After studying the ICAL course my advice to future teachers of english as a second language, is be yourself and just be natural. Most students who want to learn English will connect with you faster.

Good Luck!

As an experienced ESL teacher, I highly recommend the online ICAL course. It is thought provoking and challenging. It definitely helped me to reconsider and improve upon my teaching techniques. I enjoyed the material and assignments and my tutor was wonderful. The fact that I could do the course on my own time, at my own rythmn was a huge draw for me, as was the price. I recommend this course to those already teaching ESL as well as those just starting out.

Doing the ICAL course was definately one of the best decisions I have ever made. The course material is very comprehensive and educational. My tutor gave a lot of assistance and answered promptly with any questions or advice that I needed to complete my assignments. The assignments were graded fairly and within 2 or 3 days it was fully graded with comments that were very insightful. The material available on the ICAL wiki and on the Assignment Help section of the site was also very helpful in giving me support to complete the course. I never had teaching experience before and I thought the process would have been very overwhelming, but with the resources on ICAL and the experience and support from my tutor I was able to develop a ‘teacher-like’ way of thinking. This course is definately worth the money, I have already recommended it to friends of mine and I would recommend it to anyone else who is interested in pursuing a TEFL certificate.

ICAL is an excellent course to brush up on teaching EFL. The tutor is fantastic, giving in depth suggestions (yes, I was surprised as well!), the homework is actually hard and the course is extremely affordable. The only drawback is the actual teaching practice, but this course will give all it has to help you understand how students can learn from you.

Highly recommended!

Overall I had a very positive experience with the ICAL TEFL cert program. Above all, my tutor is what made the course stand out. She was always eager and encouraging, gave wonderful feedback, and got me excited about moving forward when I was stuck.

The coursework is laid out in 5 well-organized sections and they each address many applicable issues and environments of teaching. Although the assignments were challenging, I believe they were well designed to test knowledge gained through the readings and stretch the imagination to put the student in real-life teaching situations.

I’m very happy I took (and completed) the ICAL TEFL program and will hopefully soon find a teaching job!

I completed the ICAL certificate course in August 2009. I found the course both rewarding and challenging. One of the benefits of doing an online course is that you can put more time into the areas that are of interest you and spend less time on the areas that you feel are not as relevant to you. It also gave me the time to be creative when completing assignments. This meant that I could develop lesson plans more fully and create illustrations to go with my answers and worksheets etc. Being able to work from home also meant it was easier for me to research topics or to grab a relevant book of the shelf while answering a question. Of course, there is a wealth of information in the course modules themselves and on the ICAL website, but there were times when a topic interested me and I enjoyed having the freedom to research the topic more fully. Having put in the extra time, I felt more confident in my abilities and much better prepared to work as an EFL teacher.

Just as I was willing to go the extra mile, so was my tutor. I was surprised and impressed by the in-depth feedback from my tutor – especially given the price of the course. My tutor would further develop the ideas I had, make suggestions, and give insights from their career as a teacher. I really could not have asked for a better tutor, they surpassed my expectations in every way.

The course content prepared me well for my career as an EFL teacher, and I subsequently found work teaching adults in Germany. My colleague in Germany had completed a CELTA course, for which they had spent a great deal more money. Despite the extra money spent, my colleague had received less feedback and attention from their tutor, and (like me) had no prior teaching experience in a classroom environment. It is my feeling that I received a very high standard of education from ICAL and that I was well prepared when I began teaching.

Furthermore, it would have been extremely difficult for me to have completed a CELTA course – these courses often have to be booked months in advance and require you to reside in a major city for the duration of the course (four weeks in a major city without time to work can be expensive). The ICAL course really was a great deal – top notch education combined with complete flexibility at an extremely affordable rate. Furthermore, I got an excellent reference from my tutor at the end of the course and this reference made looking for work much easier. Even now I still reap the benefits of having completed the ICAL course. As a teacher, I still refer to the ICAL wiki, and, of course, I still use my ICAL reference. I recommend ICAL wholeheartedly.

I had never believed in on-line education, until I started completing my TEFL course with ICAL. The modules are perfectly structured and I have plenty of time to finish them, research and review before I hand them in to my tutor.

With respect to my tutor (Larry) and the staff, they are very kind, use appropriate language, respond quickly and always very enthusiastic.

I strongly recommend the ICAL TEFL course to anyone who wishes to complete a quality teacher certificate.

P.s.: There are hundreds of dodgy companies out there trying to take your money and the disappear but the ICAL has proved the opposite.

A present student,

Lorant
