I recently completed the TESOL course at AVSE in Phnom Penh, and I’m genuinely grateful for the experience. Beyond the solid teaching methodology and classroom practice, what stood out most was the level of support AVSE provided in helping me adjust to life in Cambodia. From practical advice on accommodation and transport to cultural insights and local networking, the team went far beyond what I expected from a typical TEFL course. That support made a huge difference, especially during the first few weeks in a new country.

The course itself was well-structured, with knowledgeable trainers who gave constructive feedback and prepared me for real classroom situations. I left feeling confident and ready to teach, but also settled and comfortable living in Phnom Penh. For anyone considering TESOL certification in Southeast Asia, especially if you’re new to the region, AVSE offers a rare combination of professional training and genuine pastoral care.

Overall, I highly recommend AVSE, not just as a TESOL course, but as a launchpad for living and working successfully in Cambodia.

I started off not knowing much about what to do or where to go especially for the requirements and everything but AVSE-TESOL helped out so much. They made sure to give me guidance on areas pre-course that I was a bit hazy on even before I actually paid for anything. Peter was already helpful along with his wonderful staff.

When I got there, they made sure that everything was prepared exactly on the scheduled day. There were no delays at all and all of my classmates had an easy time during the orientation. Mick introduced us all to each other and made sure we all got acquainted with each other and the upcoming program.

During the course, Mick (our instructor) made sure everyone was on the same page every single hour and every single day. He answered every question and made sure no one was left behind. He made it very enjoyable for all of us. Learning is the easiest part and the only hard part was nerves before teaching practicum which turned out to be easy because of how well Mick prepared all of us.

All in all, I would recommend this course to my friends and to anyone who wants to come to Vietnam and get their TESOL certificate. AVSE will take care of you and make it fun for you at the same time. I made great friends along the way and learned a whole lot!
