I have been hesitant to choose where to learn TESOL in a long time, and luckily I found AVSE. It is really out of my expectation. The course is a perfect combination between theory and practice beyond a normal lesson by observing and teaching real on-site students in all levels at this centre. The online document of AVSE is not only deeply academic but also clear, easy to follow and linked to many reliable resources. My trainer, teacher Mick with many years teaching experience, was dedicated to scaffolding us the lessons. He also provided us a huge resource of warmup games and shared things happen in real classes and how to handle these. There has not been a single minute wasted for three weeks. We all started from nothing and ended up with enabling to do lesson plans and teach English in any classes just like phrase “zero to hero”. Besides, AVSE team supported us carefully and enthusiastically. They helped us things in both inside and outside class. It was useful for my international classmates such as restaurants, clothes shops, shoe shops, interesting things to do, places to visit and jobs in Hochiminh city. And there were Vietnamese culture and language lessons as well. Finally, apart from the certificate, the knowledge, and the experience in teaching practicum, I had a wonderful time with my classmate who came from different countries. More than that, we still maintain a good friendship after the course until now.

I had wanted a career and lifestyle change for quite some time and finally decided to take the leap. Teaching has always been in the back of my mind but I was unsure as I had no desire to return to fulltime education to obtain a degree in education.

I did extensive research into multiple companies that offered courses similar to AVSE-TESOL, I already held a degree in a different field and completed an online TEFL course with a different provider so i must admit i was quite arrogant into thinking i could simply fast track my way into teaching English abroad.

After my initial introductory video call, i knew it had to be this company (very cliché), but in total honesty, gut feeling is everything. The Director suggested I pick a course that was based on what i wanted for my future, anyone can “teach English”, but this company really focuses in on making a difference. It’s not a company that is simply looking to tick boxes and then throw you to the wolves, from the admin team, to my teacher trainer in Phnom Penh, everyone was incredibly open, honest, welcoming and flexible. The course provides not only theory and practical knowledge, but supports your weaknesses and encourages mistakes for you to be the best version of yourself.

Completing this course isn’t just for the certificate (which honestly is what i thought it would be). This course made me a Teacher.

I cannot thank everyone involved enough and I cannot recommend AVSE-TESOL enough.

David was amazing, very passionate about what he does, and it translated to the way I experienced my time in the classroom. I learned so much and it gave me so much confidence to become a teacher and believe in my ability to teach. He absolutely supported all of us from day 1 till the very end.

What can I say about Jing! She is truly a gem. She Helped me while I was in South Africa, by providing me with advice on how to manage my trip to Cambodia, helping with visa extensions, providing support throughout the course and sourcing a teaching job after the course. Her support just gave me peace of mind. definitely “the glue that holds it together” when I think of her and what she does.

What is advertised on your webpage is really what you get in reality. I would highly recommend AVSE for anyone looking to obtain a TESOL certificate. Thank you to you all for the amazing support I received, I am forever grateful for the experience gained due to AVSE!

This course was genuinely excellent and exceeded all my expectations. I enjoyed every aspect of it, especially the fact that it included so much practical training, which made a huge difference in building my confidence. Mick (the trainer) was exceptionally supportive throughout, and the entire team created a very safe, encouraging, and enjoyable learning environment.

The guidance, structure, and hands-on practice made the whole journey smooth and rewarding from start to finish. Highly recommend AVSE!

Before joining the TESOL course, I was an office worker and had never taught English before. The course helped me gain confidence and learn how to prepare effective lesson plans. The trainer was incredibly supportive, guiding me step by step toward becoming a professional teacher. The staff were also very helpful throughout the program. I’m truly grateful for this course—it gave me the chance to practice teaching, and now I feel confident standing in front of my own class.

I already hold a TEFL certificate, but I’m so glad I decided to take this TESOL course through AVSE — it far exceeded my expectations. The program was engaging, well-structured, and packed with real-world teaching experience that truly elevated my skills and confidence in the classroom.

Instructor Mick was exceptional — knowledgeable, patient, and full of practical insight. He brought every lesson to life with hands-on activities and clear examples that made even complex concepts easy to understand.

The support staff, Mary and Marinda, were also incredible. They were always kind, professional, and quick to assist with anything I needed, creating a welcoming and supportive learning environment.

have taken English teaching courses in the past, which gives me a good point of comparison. No other course I’ve done is as good as this one!

The materials are very thorough, covering all kinds of topics (all of which I deemed to be necessary). It covers everything from what motivates adults to learn, to how children thrive, to cultural clashes and international exams. They also provide you with lots of resources to use in your future lessons (websites, warm ups, concept check activities). And the fact that they advise you on one particular type of lesson planning makes it all the easier for you, so you don’t waste days planning a single lesson.

While in Vietnam, the support was incredible. I can’t believe how much I’ve learned in such a short time. The classes I’ve observed proved kids love to learn English with this model in mind. And teaching with such good guidance became a memory I’ll never forget.

I’m truly grateful and would highly recommend this course.

My experience at AVSE-TESOL Cambodia was enriching and eye-opening. Teaching in a new culture is different and more challenging than back home, but the observations and practicals prepared me well. The intensive course is rewarding, and while I didn’t use AVSE for job placement, their guidance and support network are amazing.

I would definitely recommend this course to people wanting to gain there TESOL certification. AVSE met my needs and much more, through the experience of Trainers/Teachers allowed me to learn so much.

I found we were advised from the get go on what we needed to do regarding workload and how to manage that. AVSE provided a conducive environment to learning.
