I completed the Oxford Seminars TESL/TESOL/TEFL Certification Course online led by instructor John Taylor. His engaging and supportive teaching style made the program highly practical and enjoyable. I now feel confident and well-prepared to teach ESL both in Canada and internationally. This course was a truly valuable step in my teaching journey.

I felt it was information overload. Too much information in too little time to fully absorb and appreciate the learning process. I will give full props to the placement advisors, in particular Rohan. He answered all of my questions in a timely manner and has been supportive throughout the entire process. I was able to find a placement overseas shortly after receiving my certificate. Rohan was also very knowledgeable and helpful when I completed a second course with Oxford.

As others have said, John is excellent – competent and caring. I wanted to take the course in person, but had to do it online instead which limited its practicality. Once I got to the job placement assistance section, I was disappointed to say the least. Most European countries still favour applicants from the UK, even after Brexit. Many countries that allow one to save a significant amount of money are not on the list of available placements. Perhaps that’s related to the time of the year. Online teaching pays you “up to” $13US per hour. No thanks.

This was a deeply informative and comprehensive course with a phenomenal instructor. I feel completely confident that my competency as a Teacher has vastly improved, as a result of taking this course!

I just finished the on-line portion of the course. Now I have to finish the 2nd phase – grammar. In regards to the on-line portion of the class, it was fantastic. John T, our instructor, was excellent at teach others how to teach. He had a unique style that was not over dominating, and it flowed well. When he taught, he implemented what he was teaching, therefore practicing what he was preaching essentially. With his teaching style, I felt it allowed us to grow individually as well as in our group. He had many life experiences that he shared with us that could help us understand what some potential expectations as ESL teachers could be, roadblocks but also all the rewards too! Additionally, we got to understand effective learning styles for ESL teachers. I appreciated how our class of 17 was really encouraging of each other and grew close within 3 weeks. Overall, it was a very positive experience, and I look forward to seeing the fruits of this course.

The course had a good material base, made great by 1. a fantastic teacher (John Taylor) who brought his experience and charisma to the fore, and 2. a great bunch of other students. I was a bit hesitant to take an online Zoom course, but in the end it was a great experience, perhaps even better thna if it had been in person.

The only downside are the weaknesses of the Zoom medium itself, but it’s a small issue.

John is a great facilitator with tons of real world experience so you feel from the start of the class you have an authentic TESL teacher.
