I decided to go with the 470 hrs online course, just finished the 120 hrs base. It is said that you need around 4 weeks, but it REALLY depends on your own learning capabilities. You can finish the course in a week if you’re fast, or you can take up to half a year I believe.

Overall, the course content was really useful. However, this course is a “resource” after all, so HOW you use the content learned is up to you. Certain small details are out of date, some things that are no longer used are still being talked about, but it really isn’t important. 99.99% of it is still relevant.

A lot of different methods and teaching approaches were covered as well, but as stated previously, how you use these information is entirely up to you. This course provides a system that works, so at the very least you’ll be capable. But feel free to interpret and incorporate your own techniques.

Overall I give this course a 5/5, the things I would change are QOF changes and wouldn’t really affect the general quality of the course.

TL;DR this course provides all NECESSARY information for you to become a TEFL teacher in a wide variety of situations.

ITTT TEFL course was recommended to me by a friend. I’m currently in my last year of my Bachelors degree in Communications and was looking for another source of income preferably online. I had heard about online teaching but wasn’t sure how to become qualified. my friend pointed me to ITTT and I will forever be thankful. Not only am I now looking to teach online I am also now thinking of going abroad to South Korea someday as well. The course was comprehensive and informative and though I am a native English speaker I did learn a lot about my own language from this course. I would recommend this course to anyone. I did not have a tutor so I can not speak to that. I am also yet to take advantage of the job assistance factor as well so I also can not speak to that but I do see where systems are in place that I will take advantage of eventually.

The course worked very well for me as it was flexible and fit in around my day to day life. Whilst having a lot of information to take in, the structure made it so that it wasn’t too overwhelming and allowed me to work at my own pace until I understood enough to feel confident enough to take the end of unit tests.

All the areas I was concerned about before starting the course were covered and made very clear, helping build my knowledge and confidence in understanding.

I would absolutely recommend this course to anyone thinking about Teaching English as a Foreign Language.

The course was quite enriching. The units are well sequentially planned and the videos accompanying some of the units make it superb. Personally, I have benefited a lot from every unit as each unit had something new to add to my career. The task sheet given at the end of each unit gave room for self evaluation and revision. The entire course designer(s)’s effort to inter-wove the course material is worth appreciating. I didn’t make much use of the Tutor but I do appreciate his/her efforts to clarify my doubts.

More power to your elbow ITTT!

I have just complete my 120 hour course and I must say it was a good experience. Who knew as a native speaker you don’t pick up these things in English. I am halfway on completing my 220 hour course.

Going through the units was easy and methodical, you couldn’t just jump in between units, it was very sequential. The videos were very useful and it does help relate to the PDFs you read, sometimes there are some elements on the video are more helpful than the PDF, but you can get by with the PDF which was what I did with most of the units.

I didn’t have much use with the tutors but it was a nice handy thing to have but I would have preferred like a live chat system as opposed to at least 1 days response. Though some emails have gone back quicker during the day, so I appreciate the extra mile the staff is going through.

The best thing about the course is the flexibility, although they give you 6 months it was good to know that I can manage my time accordingly. Though I would say some units connect to each other but you can learn one unit and take a week off and get back to it with ease, but that’s just me.

I just completed the 120 hour course and I wouldn’t say it was easy, however there are a few things I can recommend. When I started i did the first three courses and had an urgent matter that sucked up a few months. Those first few course I was averaging around 90%, and then coming back after a couple of months away, 40%. Nasty, don’t do that to yourself. I found a routine that worked at around 14 of 20, so let me help you with that now so you can get this working for you from unit 1.

1. Clear some time in the morning, you are not available for 2 hours. I found 10.00am to 12:00 noon worked well for various reasons.

2. Watch the video first. It might not make much sense, however when you read through the unit in PDF you will have lots of A-ha moments… “That’s what they mean” so it tricks your mind into thinking you just recalled it, instead of learning it. Well… that’s the easiest way I can think of to explain it.

3. After watching the video and reading the PDF, print the PDF out.

4. Do the test with the PDF so you can recall things you might need.

20 days and you could be done if you do one unit a day. I had a mate do it all in a week, however he didn’t have a life for a week, and I have to run a business still. One a day worked well for me.

If the course didn’t offer a free course because you paid extra for a tutor, I wouldn’t bother with the tutor, I didn’t find much value in that. But the video’s… yep they helped me.

I completed a 120-hour TEFL course a few months ago. This course was online and with no tutor. I strongly recommend this course to people who are interested in teaching. As for me, I really enjoyed this course. it was very convenient, the units were interesting and useful. There were valuable tips of how to teach students in order to make the lesson informative and entertaining. Moreover, there we can find a solution of what to do in problem situations and how we can develop our skills.

If you pace yourself you can follow this course without any difficulties. Since it is in some ways cumulative I do not reccomend waiting long amounts of time in between units.
