I cannot recommend this program enough. I graduated in April 2023 and have been living and thriving in Samara since!

I learned so much about not only teaching english, but about teaching in general, classroom management, and general life. As a certified teacher in the US, I added so much to my tool belt from this course, even after going to school for teaching for the past 7 years. The staff is incredible and they truly want to see you succeed and more. I felt supported every step of the way without a doubt.

I found my home here and I thank Costa Rica TEFL for it. If it wasn’t for this opportunity, I would’ve never ended up in Sámara, I would’ve never met the people that I have grown to love and admire, I would’ve never found my passion job, I would’ve never been able to travel like I have been, and I would’ve never grown into the person that I am today— happy, fulfilled, passionate more than ever and living my best life.

If you’re considering it, consider no further and just do it! It is an experience of a lifetime.

It’s been a minute since I done the course at CRTEFL but my opinion of the school is even higher than in my original review . As I write this I have been living and working in this beautiful country for 3.5 years and as you will imagine there have been ups , downs and roundabouts in that time . However when Barbara and team CRTEFL tell you they will support you for as long as you need it they really mean it. They have celebrated the highs with me and picked me up and kept me going during the lows . My ability to remain and continue to flourish in Costa Rica is down to some very good friends and all the wonderful people at CRTEFL.

I also have a very great privilege to meet and occasionally work with many of the graduates and it never fails to be a delight to see them flourish, grow and blossom as teachers under the help and ever wonderful support of the team at CRTEFL . I remain ever grateful for everything they have done and continue to do for me .

If you are reading this because you are thinking of doing this course just go for it it will change your life positively in every way . I am walking , living proof of it . See you in Samara soon , Pura Vida.

What an experience this program was! I considered taking this certification in the States but never really mustered up the courage to do so until I arrived in Costa Rica. I was always intimidated by English grammar, but this program and its staff made all the difference. The instructors are very well organized, and the course syllabus was very clear and informative. I am so grateful to all the teachers for all the hard work invested in helping us be successful.

I highly recommend this program to anyone who is looking for a change in life, career, and/or looking to make a difference throughout their travels while creating a new network of friends. Best, Francisco

Costa Rica TEFL was the experience of a lifetime. I learned so much from caring, knowledgable teachers about how to organize a class lesson plan and how to effectively teach students learning English at all levels.

Samara, CR is a beautiful beach town and I really enjoyed living there for the month-long course. I met some lifelong friends through this experience.

I will always remember my time in Samara. It is such a rewarding experience helping the locals improve their Spanish.

I cannot say enough good things about this program, the staff, and the bonding moments I had with my peers.

I cannot recommend TEFL Costa Rica enough to anyone thinking about earning their certificate to teach English. The entire course is outlined intentionally to promote the success of EFL teachers. Barb has done a stellar job creating an environment for people to come in and take risks, make mistakes, and be better because of it! Every single one of my classmates and I left much better teachers than we came in as. You get a great balance of instruction, lesson planning time, and actual teaching time with locals. It can be a bit overwhelming at times, but if you show up every day willing to learn and grow, there is so much support within the program that you always get the help you need.

All of the staff are always well prepared, encouraging, and knowledgeable on the content. For my November/December class, Eleanor and Chantal were both so helpful and thorough in providing relevant and useful information into our classes every single day. Everything they taught us was applicable to what we were doing in our own teaching practice. They were always sure to make themselves available to us for any questions or concerns and really guided us graciously along the way. We received a great deal of information in a short 4 weeks, and the teacher trainers did a phenomenal job on preparing us throughout the weeks with extensive reviews and practice of concepts. We all felt confident by exam day. Alexis was our admin coordinator and she was a great support as well! She helped in any area any of us struggled in whether it be tech issues, printer malfunctions, setting up for classes, needing extra materials, or creating our online portfolios. There was never a time in my 4 weeks that I felt alone, which I really admire about the Costa Rica TEFL program. Also, don’t forget that they give you life long job assistance, which is an incredible resource!

The experience to live in Costa Rica amongst the locals all while getting certified to teach English was a priceless experience. The team at TEFL Costa Rica helps set up your living accommodations and makes the process so easy and hassle free. It definitely gave me peace of mind knowing I had a great support system if I needed any help in or out of the classroom setting! Getting to teach and interact with people in the community was such a valuable experience as well!

If you are on the fence about it, I would 100% encourage you to take a leap of faith with this program! It was by far the best decision I have made for myself, and it has opened up a whole world of possibilities that I would not have known about prior to taking the course.

I recently completed my TEFL/TESOL certification after the completion of the November/December 2023 course at Costa Rica TEFL. I enjoyed the 4-week course in beautiful Sámara Beach.

The teacher trainers are extremely knowledgeable, and the curriculum is well developed. Although there is an established curriculum, the teacher trainers were able to cater to the different learning styles of individual teachers when needed. The small class sizes with the fellow teachers allowed for a great, balanced ratio between teachers and teacher trainers. The teacher trainers provided me with all the valuable resources I needed as well as the tools to help build my confidence as I taught and prepared my lesson plans.

The level of job placement assistance and interview process support that I was provided was very beneficial. Even now, as I am in my teaching career, the school continues to provide support whenever needed. The course was intensive (in a positive way), but fun and fulfilling.

The founding director, Barbara Miller, has structured the course/program in a way that allows you as a teacher flexibility, guidance, and ample support from not only the teacher trainers but your fellow teachers too. She made sure that I was ready to embark on my journey to teach English in Costa Rica after the completion of the course. She has a wealth of experience and a genuine personality.

I was able to teach English to a diverse group of students within the community, ranging in age and proficiency level. This opportunity allowed me to see where I had opportunities to grow as a teacher and individual, as well as hone in on my strengths. Being able to teach within the community made Sámara feel like home.

I am extremely grateful that I took this leap of faith and signed up for the course. If you are seeking a very diverse, flexible, and all-around amazing program to complete to earn your TEFL/TESOL certification, then Costa Rica TEFL is the perfect program/school. The course you complete at Costa Rica TEFL will provide you with a strong foundation in which you can build upon.

I have grown not only as a teacher now, but as an individual, and I am thankful for my experience! Even if you have not taught before, do not hesitate to sign up for the course!
