Living abroad I wanted to do an online course that I could do in my own pace (as I am traveling a lot) and would still give me all the opportunities to have a valid certificate that I could actually use after this adventure abroad. This course gave me the chance to follow the course in my own pace, had a lot of information and excellent resources, gave great information about putting together a lesson plan and offered two days of class with other students under the guidance of a mentor who put into practice what we had learned about.

One point that I think could be improved is the fact that you can not get the right answers to the test unless you send in a special request. Why not provide the answers after you can no longer submit a test – it saves the student time and stress. Other than that I would certainly recommend the course to somebody who would like to teach EFL but does not have the opportunity to attend regular classes.

I’ve been contemplating about teaching English online for sometime when I stumbled upon a website offering such opportunity. However, because I haven’t had any teaching experience, I realised that I needed to have some qualifications to be able to do it.

There were quite a few choices on the internet offering the same course but what attracted me to enroll with TEFL Academy is the affordability of its 120 hours course apart from the timeframe being perfect for me since I am on full-time employment. Even then, I was still reluctant to enroll due to concerns of its authenticity. Luckily, TEFL Academy website provided a means so I will be able to verify its legitimacy. I did just that and received a response from that organisation confirming TEFL Academy’s authenticity.

I enrolled on 14 Feb. 2017 and completed the course on 28 June 2017. As I work full-time, I can only spend an hour or two intermittently on weekdays to work on the Modules and spend couple more hours on weekends.

I found the Modules to be interesting and eye-opener. There are so much information about teaching that I never knew. Obviously, the Module that I found challenging yet very rewarding is Module 3- Grammar. It also served as a real refresher for topics that I have already forgotten.

The real-time marking of end of Module tests instantly allowed me to evaluate where I did good and what went wrong.

The end of course assignments allowed me to come up with my own ideas on how I should prepare a lesson plan in the context at hand.

I also found the marking of the assignments to be within the timeframe indicated in the course introduction along with the useful comments from the reviewers.

In addition, the Academy also provided resources on Job Placements, tips on preparing CVs and cover letter. Great stuff.

Overall, I found the 120 hours course a value for money.

I found the course, the 120hr tefl academy course very informative, well structured and simple to follow. Before embarking on the course I had no previous knowledge on any subject regarding teaching. I was apprehensive at the start having no experience or knowing what to expect, to whether I could complete it, if I’d find it interesting. Once into the first module I was really enjoying it, it’s laid out in easy to understand exercises and I was surprised how much I had learned in just the first few modules. The exams really test your knowledge and they are timed which is great, so no cheating. It was so satisfying to get back a good grade for each module having put in the hard work. The end of course assignments were challenging but also clarified what you really learned on the course. The hard work paid off and I was pleased with my overall grade. I would, and already have recommended this course to others. The lay out and module/exam process is very well written and covers the main aspects of tefl teaching. From someone who started with no idea about teaching I really feel I got all I could out of the course and gained alot of valuable skills and knowledge.

This is a online course however it’s unlike other online course where you just read and answer questions. I hesitated to take this course but I learned a lot with great feedbacks from instructors. Staffs at TEFL Academy are prompt at answering your email and very helpful. I recommend this website to those who are going to teach English. Good luck!

I found the combined TEFL course to be very well structured. It covered so much but managed to compact all the relevant teachings material into easy to follow lessons with appropriate tasks to help prepare students for the world of TEFL. I would recommend the course to anyone wishing to start working in the TEFL world.

The TEFL Academy does a wonderful job compacting a lot of information into a full-online course. I love how it was go at your own pace. I learned a lot of information and I will definitely be a better teacher for it. They provide a lot of resources for job searches, but other than that, it’s all up to you. I don’t find there to be any personal help in finding a job.

I found the TEFL online course to be truly comprehensive and dynamic. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Modules were concise and well-structured – one can see that many years of experience has gone into that. Every module contained some revising of previously learnt material. The lesson planning modules were great and there was a lot of creative input and ideas for activities. There was enough space allowed for one’s own input in the workbook activities and in researching information. The whole course was really well put together in preparing one for all the aspects of teaching English and the resources and support are phenomenal. So all in all I cannot fault the entire course in any way. I have already recommended it to others and will do so for anyone looking to teach English.

This course is well prepared, well structured and easy to understand. all the lessons are varied, they cover all the aspects of the language and the tutors are very helpful, they gave me wonderful advices to improve my lessons but they also congratulated with me when I did a good job. The help desk was really helpful with me, answers were fast and well explained. everything was easy to understand, even for people who are not english mothertongue, as I am. I really recommend the tefl academy!

The TEFL Academy courses were fairly comprehensive and taught all the basics required for teaching English abroad. The worksheets were helpful, albeit a little redundant. A stronger focus on the actual teaching portion would’ve been helpful as well. Overall, a strong course that prepares you to teach English abroad!
