The course was professional from start to finish and I feel very prepared to teach for the first time. The assignments at the end really challenge you and test everything you’ve learnt.

I recommend it 100%.

I have been absolutely thrilled with the TEFL Academy 120 hour course. I have yet to implement the teachings as I am travelling and plan to begin work in May. However overall I cannot fault the course.

I think it is important to go with a 120 hour course with some time in the classroom as I feel this gave me a fantastic basis to efficiently tackle the online aspect. The online part of the course is well laid out, informative and progresses in a sensible and steady fashion.

The six month time limit ensures that the information remains fresh in your mind for when you come to complete your end of course assignments which are challenging but helpful in reinforcing what you have taught.

My favourite part of the course had to be the 20 hour classroom time. The instructor was interactive and kept the class moving adding humour to her examples. She used her vast experience as a TEFL teacher to give real world examples of what we may meet out in the field which made it particularly engaging. You also meet a lot of like minded people who become friends. I would definitely recommend the TEFL Academy to all who are interested, my o let criticism would be to spend more time in the classroom on the grammar aspect of the course which is by far the hardest segment.

I thoroughly enjoyed doing the course. I’ve studied the English language before and I’ve also had some teaching experience, but TEFL Academy really helped me to properly understand everything that teaching entails. It was helpful to look at parts of language such as grammar, vocabulary, etc. and instead of actually learning it, learning how to properly implement it in a lesson, how to pass your knowledge further. The course takes into account all different classes and levels we might encounter as teachers, and provides lots of helpful tips.

I think it’s also very valuable that there is a brief explanation of each language skill. Even though I’ve studied at university previously, it was great to go through it again and I imagine it must’ve been necessary for people who haven’t had any previous knowledge of how grammar works, the rules that apply, and so on.

My favorite part of the course was the 20 hour intense in-class course. It was very fun and a nice change from doing the rest of the course online, which can get a bit tedious. Our instructor was friendly and clearly very experienced, she managed to make all 20 hours interesting, timed the whole thing well and was generally a great example on how teaching should look like. I liked being put on the spot and having to create a short lesson on both days and actually having to perform it. It was a bit stressful as well, but mostly a really good exercise. I learned that knowing your timing is as essential as choosing the right content for the lesson.

Online course itself was quite alright, a little too easy maybe in some parts. I’d suggest putting the exercises right into the course because having to click back and forth between the course and the document in which I was doing the exercises was time-consuming.

Favorite part of the online course were the two assignments. It really made me work hard on my particular lesson plan, and I learned a lot while doing it. The feedback was much more detailed the first time than the second, but that may have been due to the fact that the first assignment in itself was more difficult than the second one.

Overall I would definitely recommend this course and TEFL Academy.

The TEFL Academy is an amazing training environment, with incredible practical teachers. The course is well set out and easy to follow.

The only negative aspect is the total lack of assistance when looking for a job. They just give you some links and its up to you to make it happen yourself. As per the advertising, I was expecting real personal help.

I have just completed the Tefl 120 hour combined course and found it challenging and rewarding. The on line course took longer than i anticipated to complete, the information was new and took some time to consolidate and practice. As the course progressed it became easier to grasp. The tests after each module enforced revision during the course and the final test demanded a complete revision of the on line course in order to guarantee a good score. The two day classroom experience was excellent, we had an imaginative teacher who reflected well the teaching in the course. My only reservation was that I undertook the 2 day classroom experience whilst on Module 3 and I think more can be appreciated from the classroom course if it is undertaken later in the range of Modules. I have scored excellent on every account in my review, except that in Lesson plan guidance for the final teaching assessments. I did not use any help from the Tefl academy tutors, and although we had studied lesson plans, they take a long time to undertake regularly, so I found the final assessments extremely challenging. Maybe more lesson planning practice during the on-line course might be useful, or more study in resources on lesson plans. The feedback from both the assessments was excellent and the feedback from the first assessment definitely helped me undertaken the second assessment with more understanding. I have not sought a job placement yet, but i have seen the resources and I hope to do so soon, that is the only reason i have been unable to give an excellent for job placement. The excellent resources supplied by the Tefl Academy for teaching materials and CVs and job searching provide a very supported training and network for which I am very grateful. The experience has been enlightening and inspiring and i very much look forward to my first placement teaching English.

I am very happy with the TEFL Course 120 hours. The modules are very well structured and organized and very easy to follow. The workbook and the further readings are useful and informative.

The final assignments are tough to complete if you haven’t studied the modules properly.

I strongly recommend the course if you want to start a career in to the teaching field!

The 120-hour TEFL Academy course covers the range of topics needed to teach English as a foreign language. This includes grammar, pronunciation, reading, listening, classroom management, methods of teaching vocabulary, class preparation/timings— and more. I felt the exercises and tests were straightforward and got easier as I adapted to them. The final assignments are good exercises in bringing together much of what has been taught. The 20 classroom hours won’t make an expert of anyone who has never taught a class previously (nor should it be expected to), but it is a good introduction to some of the classroom skills needed. I previously taught conversational English in Hong Kong without knowing anything about class preparation/timings etc., as we just talked for the class period. But if I teach again (even conversational English), I will use much of what I have learned and I will feel more qualified in class management, vocabulary teaching, etc. While it is sometimes possible to find teaching jobs without a TEFL certificate, the more qualified teachers are, the more professional courtesy they are showing the students, because those who attend private schools pay a lot of money to be there.

Surprisingly, several careless errors can be found in some of the lessons, including complete sentences separated only by a comma (e.g. Mod. 3: ‘It was raining, however, we went for a walk’), the indefinite article omitted or the plural form not used (e.g. Mod 3: ‘The pupils don’t have to wear uniform’) and this error in Mod. 9: ‘Find someone who can talk English.’

While such errors are minor and shouldn’t detract from students’ learning of the subject, it is ironic that they are present.

I found the TEFL course to be one of the most rewarding courses I have ever done. The whole set up of the course was outstanding and really made the experience simple and easy to understand.

I found out about this course through a friend who had did it and told me how reliable and accredited the course is. I had to take the leap and I am glad I did because the results were fantastic. The instructors were great and feedback for assignments and such were spot on. I would definitly advise this to anyone seeking a good place to learn how to teach
