Thanks Chris and company big time for the opportunity. Very helpful in all situations, even outside of the school itself.

High recommendations for all new comers sailing on in. Throwin up 5 stars for The Language House in all domains.

Phrasal verb madness, mixed conditionals, error correction, and especially double negatives ain’t got nothin’ on TLH!

The Language House was such a wonderful experience to begin my journey in Prague. Not only did I learn a lot about teaching English, but I gained so many life long friends. The course does so much more then train students to become certified English teachers. It also prepares you for real life situations you may encounter as a teacher here in Prague or anywhere in the world. It offers you much more then any online program ever could.

I entered the Language House a scared child and emerged a TEACHER OF ENGLISH. TLH did a great job of preparing me for teaching world of Prague not only through its entertaining instruction of grammar and teaching methodology but also through its huge and helpful community. Even after graduation I find myself contacting TLH head Chris Westergaard and other various community members for job tips, housing help, visa issues, whatever. It’s a big ole family over here and it’s hard to imagine what my life here would look like without TLH. If you’re thinking about teaching english abroad, definitely look into TLH.

I attended the Language House in October 2012 and have been living in Prague ever since. I had a great experience with the Language House. I had previously moved to a European country on my own and had experienced the difficulties of meeting people and being completely alone in a foreign country. Thanks to the Language House, I didn’t experience any of these problems in Prague. The staff really helps you navigate a new city and culture and you quickly become close friends with everyone in the course. The course itself is difficult, but it definitely teaches you a lot in a short period of time, most of which is quite useful. The daily teaching practice is especially beneficial, as no matter what age group you end up teaching, you have to be confident leading a class and thinking on your toes. This practice paired with the intensive grammar lessons really prepares you for teaching and you are guaranteed to graduate a self assured and competent teacher. I can’t thank Chris and the entire language house staff enough for their continuing support and general awesomeness.

My experience at the Language House Prague has been one of the most unique and rewarding experiences of my life. I have met amazing lifelong friends, made professional contacts, and gained more confidence in myself than I ever imagined. After graduating the course, I was overwhelmed by the amount of people ready to help me in any way they could with directions, job assistance, and flat hunting. The Language House is more than just a school, very quickly it becomes your home away from home and everyone involved in it becomes your family. This program prepared me to be more than just a language teacher, it prepared me for the life I am living abroad. Every possible scenario you can imagine, Language House has already thought of it or experienced it themselves and they are right there to hold your hand. Rain, shine, snow, or hail storm you can ALWAYS count on Chris Westergard personally responding to your emails in 30 minutes or less. Living abroad is an experience of a lifetime, but everyone knows life is so much sweeter when you have people to share the experience with. Share your journey with Language House, I promise you won’t regret it.

I finished the Language House TEFL course in April 2014 and I was very pleased with the instruction I received. Some TEFL courses are known for not being taken very seriously, but if you want to teach, TLH prepares you for many levels and personalities.

The course is planned quite well, though I will say communication between our different instructors could have been more efficient, and emphasized being able to lesson plan in a timely and creative manner. It also helps that after you graduate (and before- if you need it) TLH has a Alumni group to help with all sorts of questions for staying in Prague or going abroad.

Your classmates are also thrown into teaching with you and it creates a great network of friends for starting in a new city, and good resources for finding a job after you finish the course.

TL;DR : If you want to teach English abroad take TLH’s TEFL course.

I am very happy that I chose to take the TLH TEFL program over all of the other TEFL programs here in Prague. Three years later I am still applying the information and practices I learned from The Language House TEFL program with the primary school children I teach here in Prague. From the very beginning I felt comfortable with the trainers on the course. Moving overseas can be and intimidating and frightening for many, and it was for myself at times, but luckily because of Skip, Andrea and Chris I never felt alone and ALWAYS felt supported. Having a background in primary education with my bachelors in that field, I did not think I would learn much from the course. I was merely taking it to have an advantage when applying for jobs. It turned out to be exactly what I needed to take my teaching to the next level. The lessons taught on the course were informative and practical. Being able to teach actual non-native English speakers in a real-world setting, for many hours, was also a huge plus. I would recommend this course over all the other courses in Prague to receive a TEFL certification from.

After researching several different TEFL programs I decided on The Language House, and I couldn’t be happier! Having no background in teaching I was pretty terrified of how this would work for me, but Chris assured me that it was possible. Chris put me in contact with past graduates to help me with all the concerns I had, and they too promised that it would be possible for me to teach English without any experience in this field.

One of the biggest factors that sets The Language House apart from every other TEFL course is the amount of teaching experience required to graduate. Teaching actual Czech students for 3 weeks before graduating made me feel extremely prepared to teach after the course. Also, the observers’ daily feedback was crucial to my growth as a teacher throughout the course. TLH was also very helpful with finding jobs, a new place to live, and meeting other past graduates around Prague.

I can easily say joining this community has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. If you’re on the fence about whether or not to join The Language House TEFL, quit thinking about it and just do it! You will not regret it!

Making the decision to move to a new city in a new country is not one to be taken lightly. I researched tons of different TEFL courses, both online and in different places, and the one that kept popping up was The Language House. When I started seriously discussing leaving with my family and friends, The Language House made it extraordinarily easy to lay out a bunch of reasons about what was so great about this program and about this huge life decision. They offer airport pickup, accommodation, help with your visa, job assistance, and a really strong alumni network. So even though I was by myself in a new country, I was never really alone.

The course itself was super intense and I found myself wishing for my senior year of college. I learned more about the English language in my month at TLH than I did while I was at school. There were times when I doubted my proficiency as a teacher but there was never a time when I felt like TLH doubted me. The feedback from the observers was amazing and helpful and having peer feedback was really constructive.

A piece of advice, I would definitely tell you to budget more money than you think you should. Also, make sure that you give yourself time to really enjoy Prague. One month is not enough!

Overall, I had a great time at The Language House and would recommend it to anyone who wants to get TEFL certified.

I took the TEFL course with the Language House in March. I believe that the course adequately prepared me to be an English teacher. While it was certainly a challenging month, the skills that I gained were well worth the investment of time and money. The 14 hours spent teaching lessons was easily where you could see the most growth in yourself and it was rewarding. Just be prepared for a bit of stress the first couple of lessons. Chris and other staff members are easy to contact throughout the day if you have any issue at all.

The facilities are good, with a perfect and easily accessible location in the center of Prague. However, we had a class size of 18 so at times the facilities were a bit small to easily accommodate everyone. They have printers and copiers that even recent graduates like myself are able to use. Job placement is good as well. TLH obviously cannot just hand a job to you but they are very good at providing resources to use as well as posting jobs in the Facebook group. I finished the course about 3 weeks ago and I have a job. The fact that the school offers to provide housing is a perk as well. If you do the footwork yourself you can save a bit of money. However, the fact that you do not have to have the added stress of finding a home when moving to a foreign country probably makes it worth it. Staying in the provided housing also provides a nice opportunity for networking and meeting the other TEFL students.

I consider myself lucky to have found the Language House in Prague and would recommend the course to anyone. The 14 hours of teaching along with the continuous assistance of TLH house staff is incredibly beneficial.
