The Language House provided a warm and welcoming teaching atmosphere along with a lot of concrete and practiced knowledge. My grammar and general English language skills have been permanently upgraded due to my experience there. The course directors also really go the extra mile not only in giving you the credentials and experience to succeed but also in helping you build social contacts to get your TEFL career started. They make it easy to communicate and engage with both with expats and local Czech students, and the TLH community all help and support each other as well as offer their friendship and advice. You learn alot in the course itself while at the same time having a fun and memorable experience. There is great balance of work and play at The Language House, the long hours and intensive teaching components can be taxing but in the end you will feel ready to teach language in a foreign country, will have accomplished something difficult and will have made some genuine friends along the way.

Being apart of The Language House family has been one of the most memorable and rewarding decisions I made when I decided to move to Europe! The Language House made me feel well prepared to teach classes from beginners to advanced students as well as from large class sizes to small ones. It’s a well structured course with great teachers. For anyone looking to become TEFL certified in Prague, THIS is the course to be apart of!

The Language House was an amazing four week experience that a written review cannot sum up. I had the time of my life (insert Dirty Dancing theme song) The course material was structured well and easy to follow. The teaching staff was tremendously helpful when it came to lesson topics, ideas and help regarding teaching. The instructor Chris Westergaard was not only a mentor to the students in my class, but also a friend. He proved that school can actually be fun…who knew! I would highly recommend the course to anyone considering it. TLH has a huge support system in Prague. From staff, to new students, to past students. Everyone is helpful and friendly. I have made amazing friendships thanks to The Language House. TLH was helpful with accommodations getting to Prague, and post TEFL life. They help with job guidance, visa information and housing issues. My time spent at The Language House was nothing but positive. Chris and the fellow staff embraced each student with an open heart and mind. My advice for anyone who wants to live abroad, travel and see the world is to take this course its the bomb.com 🙂

also the course is very lifestyle friendly and twerking friendly!! (come on a course where you can twerk to Britney Spears music… if that doesn’t get you to sign up then I am at a lost for words!)

The Language House TEFL provide an excellent 4 week program. I have been a primary school teacher in Australia for many years, and the training provided by TLH was comparable with some of the best teacher training I have received throughout my career.

I am now a confident English teacher, with plenty of work, receiving great feedback from my students. TLH prepared me exceedingly well! I’ll be a better primary school teacher when I return home as result of this experience also. But for now, I am loving Prague. The most beautiful city in the world come as an added bonus if you take this course. So do it!!

I have recently completed my TEFL course with The Language House, and cannot recommend them enough. The ‘whole package’ that they offer is fantastic. The moment I arrived in Prague, I felt supported – not only within the actual TEFL course, but with all of the other elements that come with traveling to an unfamiliar place. For example, assistance with getting a metro card, looking for housing, arranging work visas etc. We also had several Czech lessons, and they were invaluable – not only for learning some basic conversation skills, but also to experience what it’s like to learn a new language. This experience will definitely make you a more empathetic and effective teacher!

The staff at TLH teach the course content and TEFL methodology in an interesting, engaging and professional way. You’re encouraged to get creative with your lesson planning, so the only limit is your imagination. Throughout the course, you’ll have the opportunity to put all of this theory into practice by teaching a class every day. While it’s definitely challenging to juggle study and teaching, it’s worthwhile because you grow very quickly as a teacher in a short amount of time.

I took the January 2014 course with the Young Learners and Teens extension, and it was an incredible experience! It is an intense four-week program, but you finish knowing you can easily handle teaching EFL in the field. The owner and main instructor, Chris, knows TEFL inside and out and is always willing to go out of his way to make sure you are succeeding. The other instructors are great as well. They all have tons of TEFL experience and have great feedback after practice lessons. I really appreciated that this program gave me the opportunity to teach real Czech students. Thanks to the quality of this program, I was able to secure a job before I had even completed the course. The Language House is highly respected in the community, and it seems as though schools are eager to hire TLH graduates. Be ready to study grammar functions and structures and get creative with lesson planning. If you do the work and listen to feedback, you will do well.

I would definitely recommend The Language House for anyone who would like to teach abroad! They do an amazing job of making the transition to living and working abroad as easy as possible. It is obvious that they want to see you succeed as an English teacher, and they will do all that they can to make it happen.

Deciding to teach abroad can be an intimidating decision. With a multitude of choices, it is hard to decide where to begin. The Language House does an exemplary job at erasing those fears. You receive support as soon as your plane leaves home, and it continues through your duration of teaching abroad. TLH program is rigorous, yet fun. Each instructor is unique and equips students with the tools he/she needs to thrive in front of a classroom. I highly recommend The Language House as the first step to teaching abroad.

I took the TEFL course (with the Young Learners & Teens extra course) during July 2013 and I can’t recommend it enough. It will completely absorb you for a month, but once it’s over you will find yourself really missing it! Everyone on the staff knows their stuff (by the end you will too), and they set great examples for connecting with your classroom. It’s also extremely helpful to get so many hours in the classroom to perfect your teaching with real students learning English at all levels. Feedback is always constructive and motivating. Most everyone at The Language House is also happy to help you out with non-teaching questions and help you settle in. They are all super nice and hilarious.

I’ve had no problems getting jobs teaching English in Prague since July, and I feel that TLH prepared me very well for both applying to jobs and also being successful at them. Even though it’s been 6 months since getting my certificate, they still help me out to this day.

I took the TLH course in August 2013. The course is intense, but with the help and humor of the teachers and the fellow students, it’s tolerable. You have more FaceTime student teaching in this course than any other course I looked into, which is essential for shaping a strong and confident teacher. There is heavy emphasis on methodology and grammar, both of which become “no brainers” by the end of the month.

Some of teachers I had on this course are some of the best teachers I have ever had, they are enthusiastic, helpful, and they want you to succeed. I felt more than ready to start teaching in Prague after I took this course. TLH staff assists you with every step of the moving (abroad) process in addition to the actual teaching certification process, which was a huge plus for me.

Just an example- The owner, Chris, went out of his way (while he was on holiday in The States) to help my friend and I get a last minute ride from the airport to our new flat when we first arrive a week before the course even began. He really does everything he can to make the students feel welcomed and comfortable.

I took the course in May 2013 and right from the time you sign up you are guided through everything. From accommodation issues, to pick ups at the airport and any questions you may have about moving temporarily to Prague. The course is fairly intense and you need to be switched on from the beginning, but if you apply yourself the results are worth it. I learned so much from all the instructors and they were all really encouraging and helpful in their feedback. The group you are in quickly becomes a pseudo family and you do band together as strangers in a strange land, which helps a lot to alleviate a lot of the stress you might encounter. Also, previous course graduates are around to help you with any issues related with living in Prague, or even just for someone to go out with for a drink after a hard week. With regards to value for money, I think it was absolutely worth every penny to me.

I highly recommend TLH.
