I took the course in September 2012. The Language House TEFL course was everything I expected. It was an intensive teaching course that not only prepared me for teaching English, but also for living abroad in Prague. The course includes teaching methodology, intensive grammar practice, lesson planning, basic Czech lessons, a tour of Prague, and real teaching experience with feedback. The grammar portion of the course was extremely helpful and I appreciated the instructors’ push to make sure we had meticulously studied it.

Having received a degree in education from university, I found that this month long course to be exceptional in comparison. The hands-on teaching experience was the best part of the course. We taught a class of Czech students daily, in addition to teaching in front of our classmates and teaching another Czech student 1-1. These lessons also included constructive criticism and feedback.

The instructors at TLH TEFL are also very helpful once you finish the course. They will direct you to a company that helps you with the Visa process and are very responsive to any questions or concerns.

This language course also stands out because of the community that the owners/ instructors work hard to create for graduates. Once you graduate you are connected to a whole network of other teachers and recent graduates.

I chose to get my certification at The Language House TEFL in Prague, Czech Republic. I highly recommend this program. While there are many programs available this course includes additional services that others do not. These services include; CV assistance, job assistance, housing, and Visa assistance. They prepared me to teach English but they also prepared me to live in Prague. Skills that I consider highly valuable.

My decision to move abroad was both a professional and personal decision, as I’m sure it is for others. I had many questions and concerns. I felt that the Language House was both fully informative and supportive of all that I was going through. They still are. The Language House is also more than a school but a community. Something that I think any Expat would appreciate.

I took the course in July 2013, and to be honest I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, my unknowing changed after the first couple days as I experienced the full force of an intense TEFL course. For me, the intensity was a good thing as I knew that I was receiving a quality education in TEFL. That being said, with the support of the course staff and the constructive advice and feedback given, I was able to handle everything and come out of the course prepared to teach! I would recommend this course to anyone interested in living and teaching in Prague; don’t think about it too much, just do it!

Taking this course was one of the best decisions I ever made. The staff make learning how to teach English exciting and fun. Chris and Skip are both very enthusiastic and motivating towards their students. I felt prepared and excited to get out and start teaching once the course was over. Through this course, I’ve met some of the most amazing people and can truly say I’ve walked away with great friends. Not only is this a place where you gain a lot of knowledge about teaching, but it’s also a place where you walk away with an experience of a lifetime. I am thoroughly pleased with my experience and highly recommend it to anyone else. Chris Westergaard rocks!!

I took the course August ’11 and was extremely impressed by the program created by Mr. Westergaard. He has succeeded in making teaching English in the Czech Republic as easy and comfortable as studying abroad. Meeting people new people was easy, accommodations were comfortable, and the course adequately prepared me for work. I would highly recommend the course to recent college graduates!

I attended the 4-week TEFL certification course at The Language House in Feb 2013 and it was fantastic. It was VERY rigorous–the teachers have very high standards and expect nothing but the best from you every day. If you work really hard though, by the end of the program you know how to be a really good language teacher. You get to practice-teach with local Czechs 4 nights a week for 3 weeks, and you get really substantial feedback from TLH on how you do, which means when you become employed, you’ve already put a ton of common teaching mishaps/mistakes behind you and can walk in the door a great teacher. The instructors are all really interesting, smart, cultivated people as well. They were also really helpful/responsive when it came to day to day life in Prague for the month. They made it easy to pop over to Prague and just go for it! I’ve since interviewed with companies in Japan, Taiwan, and Turkey and was offered jobs with all 3 organizations I interviewed with. The teaching methods they taught me were solid and well received by employers. Thanks TLH.

I decided to take a TEFL course after a year of teaching back home. What convinced me to attend The Language House was a simple phone call from Chris Westergaard (no other course called personally) where he proceeded to answer all of my questions. This proficiency from the staff didn’t falter in the slightest upon my arrival to Prague. I have to admit, I went into the course somewhat concerned I wouldn’t learn anything new in the teaching field-I couldn’t have been more wrong! The Language House teaches a strict ESA structure that can be applied to any lesson. The staff was amazing at showing how to make your lessons super engaging and fun with this structure, while also not being limited to it. The course also put a lot of emphasis on grammar which will be so helpful to any future ESL teacher. If you are anything like me prior to the course, your grammar knowledge needs some work! The Language House definitely gets you where you need to be! The set up of the course, although challenging, allows substantial amount of time for you to practice lesson planning and then apply that to your teaching. You get feedback from instructors every time you teach a lesson so you know exactly what you need to work on for the next time. Overall, I left The Language House feeling challenged and completely confident in my ability to teach.

The course helps you with job placement by posting available positions. Although it’s not a guaranteed job placement, if you are pro active in you applying, you will most certainly not have a problem in finding a job! On top of that, The Language House staff helped me perfect my CV for interviews!

I truly feel like The Language goes above and beyond with helping their students feel supportive on this journey away from home. This support continues even after the completion of the course! Chris is great at arranging meetups with current and past graduates of the school! This helps you make connections, form friendships and feel like part of a community here in Prague. Coming to Prague and attending The Language House will always prove to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I can’t recommend it more!

I chose to do The Language House in January 2013, and it was easily the best choice I could make of the TEFL programs here in Prague. The teachings and guidance I received were second to none and proved essential when it came to teaching in the classroom. Thanks to the amount of in-course teaching we were able to perform, I already had my teaching hiccups out of the way by the time I began my first class teaching a group of business professionals.

Another benefit of TLH is the constant alum support. The alums really do form a tight niche community which helps the transition into a foreign country that must easier and better. I can’t recommend this course enough.

I took this course last month (July 2013) and am so glad that I did. Throughout the course, I learned many, many, MANY valuable skills that carry over into actual teaching. From grammar to methodology, TLH prepares you for every aspect of real-world teaching. TLH also includes 14 hours of actual teaching practice with Czech students, which boosted my confidence tremendously. While TLH cannot promise you a job, they do help with job placement. Not only did they hold workshops where they told us how a Czech CV/cover letter should look, but they also invited speakers from various language schools around Prague to tell us about their schools. TLH gives you everything you need to find a job, you just need to put in the effort and apply. Overall, the course was fun and I learned more than I could have ever thought possible. Go with TLH! You won’t regret it.

Chris & Skip are the best duo to help you get the most out of your TEFL certificate. If you really want to leave the program feeling confident, you must go to The Language House. They have twice to practice hours before you leave. It may be rough at times but you finish knowing that you are ready for anything.
