It has been an undoubtedly intense but rewarding four weeks. Oxford house has been really amazing in providing support and feedback in all aspects.
Firstly as a non-Eu student (I am from Trinidad and Tobago) I came on a student visa and there was great help in this aspect. From finding me a suitable host to providing assistance in the process of registering my Spanish address (empadronamiento), getting a NIE appointment and writing your TEFL CV. There was support every step of the way from the respective officers.
Secondly, the course director and tutors were never too busy to provide advice or listen to your concerns when it came to lesson planning or course assignments. Do not be afraid to ask for help, we all at some point had our worries and frustrations but the support from tutors, staff, and not to mention your course mates will surely comfort and reassure you.
Thirdly, you will see yourself flourish. You are equipped with all the tools needed to plan an effective lesson and all the tools to prepare said lesson. Your tutors and peers will provide you with positive feedback as well as constructive criticism. Use this to your advantage.
Have no worries, if you are skeptical just do it. Why? Because growth as an individual and a teacher is guaranteed. Not to mention the support.
There will be sleepless nights but its all worth it with the wealth of knowledge and experience you acquire in the process. 🙂
Lastly, the career officer is there to provide guidance and assistance even after the course as it is a lifelong service.

This is one of the best decisions I made for myself. The course is really intense and one does have to work hard but it pays off at the end:-) It’s very well laid-out.The tutors, teaching practice and the one on one feedback sessions were the highlights of the course. The non-teaching staff were of great help too. They’re there to make things easier and convenient for you.I have learnt so much in the span of 4 weeks. This course definitely opens doors for those looking forward to gaining experience and knowledge in the field of ELT.
Do yourself a favour and get registered ASAP 🙂

I am definitely happy with choosing OxfordTEFL. It’s been both a challenging and fantastic experience. The teachers were always open to help, patient and motivating through it all. The course was intensive and it was a lot of work but with the amount of support and resources, the course is absolutely achievable. I also applied for their student housing– another feature I had no complains about. We had everything we needed and if any issues arised, the staff would be quick to fix it. I would recommend this program to anyone interested in teaching, traveling and diving into a unique, enchanting and beautiful culture.

I’ve found the Oxford TEFL to have been worth every penny. Teachers are constantly available and ready to help out with whatever it is you’re struggling with. The course is very intensive but extremely well put together; every single piece of work you do directly aids you to become a (better) teacher.

Oxford House Barcelona offers an amazing 4 week TEFL course. The course in hands on with you teaching basically right off the bat! Very experienced and friendly teachers helped us through this intense course but the knowledge gained was worth it. One month out and I already found a full time teaching job!

Thanks Oxford Barcelona!

I completed the TEFL course at Oxford over the Summer and it has been one of the best things I could’ve done for my career. The tutors at this school are fantastic and so supportive. If myself or any of the other students had any problems, they were always available to help. The course is intense but at the end of it I felt ready for anything my new job could throw at me. This course has helped me really improve as a teacher and helped me gain a lot of confidence. The school’s location is so convenient and the staff found myself and the other student’s accommodation nearby which eased a lot of my stress. If you are thinking of completing a TEFL course I couldn’t recommend this more.

The month-long intensive course at OxfordTEFL Barcelona was amazing and challenging. It was a great experience to have had to step out of my comfort zone and do something I’ve not ever done before; with the most skilled and knowledgeable tutors and instructors there to guide me and help me do the best I can. Aside from the extensive amount of work and study I was exposed to during that month, it was an absolute privilege to have been able to watch those teachers gently guide relevant knowledge into the minds of students. Those same teachers have equipped me with the skills to be able to teach a class full of students, and had always been supportive and helpful; readily providing ideas for future lessons. The input sessions were extremely useful as well, as I’d learnt things that, as a native speaker, I would never have had to dissect until now. Great school, great location, amazing teachers, and fantastic lesson flow for trainees. I would recommend the TESOL certificate with OxfordTEFL Barcelona any day!

The extensive Trinity Diploma TESOL provided by Oxford TEFL offered me an amazing learning experience both online and in class. The Moodle platform was extremely useful for learning about new teaching trends, sharing experience and getting feedback from top notch teacher trainers! Thank you Nicola, Duncan, David, Sean and all others!!! The teaching practise part here in Prague was the highlight of the whole course, especially lesson planning guided by David and Sean and getting their valuable feedback. Thank you for becoming a better teacher and helping me find new job opportunities!!!

I loved being in the Oxford TEFL program in BCN. The staff was great and more than willing to go the extra mile to help you out. It was hard work, but you walk away with knowledge that you could not find anywhere else.
My only complaint is that timing is everything here. I did the March program, and it is in the middle of Spain’s school semester. If you intend on teaching in a school, I highly recommend waiting until the school year starts. You have to find a job on your own (they help with resume), so you should plan to start the program for the type of job that best suits your needs.
Other than that, highly recommend!

The TEFL Cert course has influenced my opinion about teaching and has given me a life-changing experience. After I had finished it, I realised that being a teacher is not only a big responsibility, but also an ejoyable job if you’re a creative and sociable person (which I am!)
The tutors have provided me with some great ideas and important tips about how to make lessons useful, productive and, of course, interesting.
In spite of all the intensivity of the course, there had always been a great atmosphere in the class created by the well-experienced and courageous teachers as well as by my friendly groupmates.
I recommed this course to everyone who wants to REALLY improve their teaching skills and bring themselves to a high new level in the pedagogical sphere.

I was in the September TEFL group in Barcelona. Overall, it was an amazing experience, very intense and challenging. The school is very well equipped with computers, books, different kinds of material that will help you prepare the classes and make them more fun for your students AND you:) The teachers are always there to help you, give their opinion of how you should plan a lesson, but they also give you the freedom to express your own creativity. Very professional. 5 stars :)))

Be warned, this course is intense and there is a lot of work crammed into 4 weeks (emphasis on ‘CRAMMED.’)
The tutors are absolutely top notch and excellent educators however and the course work is well thought out and feedback is generally very helpful.
The resources are a little sketchy sometimes. The actual teaching time you do on this course will prepare you for the real world of teaching pretty well and is probably the most invaluable component.

All and all, well worth it!!

I couldn’t speak more highly of my experience with Oxford TEFL in Prague. I have been an ESL teacher for over five years, and came to this course just hoping to get a certificate and expand my job opportunities. I didn’t expect that I would be leaving with so much more than that. I am returning to my job this fall a much stronger teacher than I was last school year, and am so appreciative of the expert help, support and feedback provided by the incredible teachers in this program.

I have attended the Trinity Cert Tesol Program in Prague and felt that my tutors for well above par. I have been teaching for a few years and still coming into this program I knew there were things to learn, but oh how many. It was a unique and at times grueling process. There are times when it seems that if you have to type one more word you might just throw your computer out the window, yep not tablet, I’m old. None the less, at no point did I want to give up. The tutors were supportive but honest. They gave us great practical advice and constructive feedback. I never felt that I was wasting my money or time in this program. I can see why this course is both respected and accredited. Now when I enter my classrooms, I feel a better understanding of my educational aims and a confidence that I did not have before. Thank you to all of the staff, and I highly recommend this school. But be warned, you will work. As my mom used to say,”If it’s worth having, it’s worth working for.” Yes, my mother put prepositions at the end of words, but I think we can still all agree with the statement. After the 4 weeks are finished you will be able to walk into a classroom, ready.

I took the Trinity Cert. TESOL course in June, 2016. The content of the course is thorough, thus making it very intensive. Although I felt overwhelmed at some point, the tutors were always there for me to assist me with the assignments. During input sessions, my lesson plans were addressed carefully and was given suggestions for my classes which proved to be essential for having an effective lesson. The feedback I received from both tutors helped me improve towards becoming a successful TEFL teacher. Moreover, they were very patient and eager to show me what could be changed in order to further my skills. Speaking of their resources, Oxford Tefl has all resources not only English teachers need but teachers of other languages as well such as Swedish, Japanese etc. Before I arrived in Barcelona and started the course, I had contacted Regina, the careers adviser to help me create a TEFL CV. She responded right away and email me her sample CV so I could follow her steps to create my own. On the course, I met her twice, once due to my request and the second time as part of the scheduled interview every trainee has with the careers adviser. In addition, she sent out my CV with my consent to TEFL employers in Barcelona and told me the following steps of finding a job. Conclusively, I highly recommend this course and Oxford Tefl because it opens up doors to many opportunities and trainees/graduates always feel supported by the staff.

I took the Trinity CertTESOL from Oxford TEFL recently. This was a great course. I took this course because of its accreditation and good reviews. I was not disappointed. The course was a lot of work, but worth the time. There was so much that went into the class, but it gives you a better understand of English and how it is taught. All the tutors were great and willing to help anytime you asked. I felt every comfortable and supported throughout the entire class.

I just finished the CertTESOL last month in Prague. I finally chose Oxford TEFL after researching all the Tefl schools in this city, and I’m so happy I did. The trainers are all very supportive, the course is well-organized, and the resources are plenty. I was actually quite surprised at how much I improved in 4 weeks, and the steady teaching practice we were subjected to was a true blessing. It was definitely intense, but don’t let that scare you away. There was plenty of time to have fun, and getting to know fellow trainees from many different backgrounds was a rewarding benefit. Our CVs were sent out to various reputable schools in Prague, and by week 5 here, I already had several interviews. Word of advice: If you plan on staying in Prague, get going on that flat search ASAP. Also, take all the feedback you get during the course to heart, and you’ll find yourself improving drastically.

I did the Oxford TEFL course in August at the Prague Oxford House. I stayed in the lovely trainee flat offered by OH which was an amazing 15 minute walk from the school. I was recommended the course by my sister who had done it a few years earlier. She had warned me about the intensity of the course, which I found to be true, but I actually relished the long hours as I enjoyed learning about teaching so much. The two tutors I had were absolutely fantastic, providing very constructive feedback on my teaching practice. The building itself was well equipped with teaching facilities, absolutely no complaints! I can definitely say that this course has equipped me with the skills to start work as an ESL teacher with confidence, and a massive thank you to all the staff at the OH! I couldn’t recommend it enough!

While browsing for the most appealing course, in the land of TEFL it might be hard to see the wood for the trees. Of course you could do an online course, but there won’t be any theory out there to help you when you’re trying to convey the message as a rookie in front of the classroom.

Because real-life experience is key I am very glad I found Oxford House. The professional tutors provided me with tons of tips, gave us trainees clear instructions, were always enthusiastic and created a nice atmosphere. You gain a lot of confidence in the end while teaching, since you have lots of opportunities to create your own lessons and you have time to find out whatever (doesn’t) works for you.

The certificates of this school are also recognized and moderated by Trinity College London, and that is definitely a plus while applying as a TEFL teacher. Still have any doubts? Just do it. Yes the course is intense, but even if you’ll never teach for the rest of your life, you’ll still obtain some extremely useful management skills, meet some great people and have a lot of fun in one of the most fairytale-like cities I have ever seen!

Overall, this is and outstanding course with excellent facilities and resources. After completing the program, I feel quite confident in my teaching activities due to the intensive nature of the program where we got hours of hands-on teaching practice, feedback and lesson plan guidance. There was no shortage of knowledgeable staff to assist if you had any questions or needed help. The instructors are professionals and their high energy and positive attitude resonates in their teaching instruction and teaching assistance. There were numerous opportunities for career help and their job placement services you can take advantage of for life. Although I have been teaching IELTS for several years and using a variety of course books and supplementary materials, I found out I need to tailor a course for one or a group of learners who are preparing for the exam. The Teaching IELTS Course opened new horizons in my teaching career. At first week, I started to write effective lesson plans for my classes in addition to leading workshops for teachers who are going to start teaching IELTS. What I learned helped me to teach receptive and productive skills much more effectively than before. What was wonderful about the course was teaching reading. It is the most challenging skill for Iranian learners. I learned how to support them to gain above 6.5 in reading, the score that a few learners were able to get.

I’ve just completed the Teaching English for Academic Purposes course and I thought it was really interesting. Even though the weekly content and assignment were sometimes rather slow to appear, once they did, the combination of articles and videos challenged you to think about your own teaching in the EAP classroom and how to exploit the materials, which can be very different from those found on a General English course. There was an opportunity to post reflections in a discussion forum and read what the other participants had to say. Feedback was given via skype and was a really good way to reflect upon each of the three modules and learn what the tutor thought about your assignment and postings.I would recommend this course to anyone thinking of making a move into TEAP or for anyone that recently has.

Course completed: Training the Trainer course, October 2015, Barcelona

I have found the course very useful for teacher professional development. After taking the course, I feel very confident that I am able to do a teacher trainer job as I have learned a lot about the specifics of the trainer position. I liked the blended structure of the course, which included a “pre-course tasks” week, a “face to face” week and the final week for consolidation of what had been learned. I have found the face to face week the most valuable in that I had an opportunity to work closely with the new teachers-trainees. That is where you get the most understanding of the tutor’s job! Observing the trainees’ lessons was a great experience. However, if I had to do the course again, I would like to spend more time with helping trainees to prepare their lesson plans. During the rehearsal sessions, the trainees were consulting with their “real” tutors, so I felt a bit left out being a ‘trainee” myself. Also, sometimes I was not provided with the trainees’ lesson plans before observation which made it more challenging giving constructive feedback.
Making notes all the way through the face to face week was really important, as completing of the week 3 tasks required thorough consolidation of those notes. I would suggest that the importance of making notes needs to be emphasized more. May be using some templates for recording the most important aspects observed during input sessions would help in this.
Overall, the experience of training to be a trainer was very enjoyable and by all means very valuable.

It was really intense, but really inspiring: high-level feedback (so many tips and tricks I’d never even thought about), engaging classes and me and my fellow students becoming like a tight-knit family over the course of just four weeks :). Special mention to David and his entertaining pronunciation classes and to Karin for getting me interviews within hours of sending out my cv. Thanks guys!

Just completed the Starter Course, WOW. As an older student (I am retired) it was fun and challenging to re-start the learning process and understand more about recent developments in education and learning. The course was well structured, apart from one marathon reading module, and with lots of reference material and a super tutor, I was able to get back into the learning process. An excellent starting point which has given me the encouragement to continue and take the Trinity Certificate early next year. Well done Oxford-TEFL.

The Teaching Exam Classes course gave me a solid foundation to start teaching exam preparation classes. I had no prior experience of teaching exams and found the thought of having to teach IELTS or FCE quite daunting. After this course I feel much better prepared and confident enough to start teaching exam courses straight away.

OxfordTefl Business English Teacher development course.

A useful short course for those who are either new to Business English or who would like a refresh without the stress and commitment of a longer period of study. Useful insights into how developments in technology can be incorporated into lessons. The workload and pace of study are completely manageable for those in full time employment. The online delivery is both flexible and surprisingly engaging – group forums, chats, videos, Skype, which made for a supportive experience.

I followed the TYL online course and I really enjoyed it. The content of the course was excellent and it covered all the areas of TYL. It provided lots of ideas, techniques and resources to use with children. I now feel better prepared and more confident to teach English to young learners. My tutor was very encouraging and supportive, giving me very useful and practical advice. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone interested in this field.

I have recently completed the online course about “Leadership in ELT” with Duncan Foord from Oxford House, Barcelona and I would highly recommend it!
Here are 7 reasons for anyone to choose this course to learn how to be a better version of themselves and how to help others better:
1.It will help you get closer to your inner authentic self;
2.It will help you understand better the difference between leadership and management and the importance of both in your daily life;
3.It will help you choose what to do more to communicate better with both the world inside and outside you;
4.It will help you ask for feedback better and more often so that you can understand yourselves better and the impact you are having on those around you;
5.It will help you think more about prioritising to become more efficient in all you do;
6.It will help you think about your own motivation and how to tap into other peoples’ motivations;
7.It will provide a model for planning projects: it will help you work better by delegating work to others – a key challenge for leaders, as it combines planning and organizational skills with consideration of motivation – being aware of complementary roles in the team.

I entered the Trinity CertTESOL course with no previous experience in teaching and I came out confident in my ability to work in this industry. This four week course truly teaches you how to teach and if you’re a newbie, that’s the most important ability you need to gain. It is INTENSE, though, and you need good organization skills as well as stress and time management to get through it. But it’s all worth it in the end. The tutors are helpful and friendly and you can learn a lot by observing their teaching and class management methods.
The way the course is structured, you get a good balance of theory and practice. You start teaching within the first few days which can be intimidating but the feeling when you’re done with your first lesson is amazing.
It was an incredible experience and most importantly, the course really does what it promises to do, prepares you to be a creative ESL teacher and helps you figure out how to to work on yourself in the future.

I really enjoyed the TEFL course, not only am I now able to teach English to non-native speakers but I have also improved other skills such as working as a team and I have definitely become more confident standing in front of a class. I have learnt a lot about the English language (grammar, phonology and vocabulary) which I had little knowledge about prior to the course. We received much guidance in our lesson planning and teaching practise as well as the lessons regarding grammar etc.
I look forward to finding a job back in the Netherlands in this field.

Hi, I’m Elena and I completed Trinity CertTESOL course this June. For me it was a challenging but enriching experience. I particularly liked the structure of the course: input sessions with loads of new information went along with Teaching Practice, where I had a chance to implement all my newly aquired knowledge. I got great support from the staff, especially from the tutors who were guiding my teaching practice. Before each class I got assistance with lesson planning, and after feedback sessions I was clear on what I need to improve.
Inspite of all seriousness of the course and inevitable deadlines for the assignments, I had a lot of fun! My groupmates were amazing people from different parts of the world, we had great communication and all worked as a team.
All in all it was a very useful experience, it motivated me to learn more for to teach effectively and become a better professional.

I had been looking for an online course of quality for some time, but it wasn’t until I found the Online TEFL Starter course that I got excited about learning again. This review is for the Teaching Young Learners online course.

The course provided a very comprehensive overview of teaching Young Learners for EFL teachers who are not experienced in this area. It looked at the differences between teaching YLs and adults and covered different types of activities such as games, drama, projects, stories, arts and crafts etc, providing some useful resources. I found the course very beneficial and now feel a lot better equipped to venture into this field.

I did an online Teaching Business course and really enjoyed it. In some ways it was a refresher but in many, it gave me lots of fresh new ideas of things I want to try in the classroom and out of it too. The instructor was always willing to help and answered questions , if i had any. Her feedback was positive and helpful. She usually made me think of more options, which I appreciated. It really helped me get back some of my “mojo” which I had lost due to not doing any professional development for a while. Something I won’t neglect again.

Through teaching practice, the course does a great job of getting you ready to begin teaching right from the start (we were teaching on the second day of class). There were two key areas of the course that were of great help to get us classroom-ready: 1) lesson planning assistance in the morning and 2) feedback sessions that followed the teaching practice. During the lesson planning guidance the teachers helped us develop an adequate lesson plan and were quite thorough in their attention to details of our content and classroom management technique, constantly asking “how are you going to do that?” do get us properly focused on the tasks. The feedback sessions provided great insights and gaves us a clear picture of what things we were doing right and wrong; the latter providing improvement areas to tackle during the following teaching practice.

I picked Oxford TEFL after a recommendation from a previous student, and I think I made the right decision. The course itself was intense…but it needs to be! There´s no better way of learning and improving your teaching without practice, and OH definitely recognize this. I found grammar to be the most challenging aspect of the course, and it felt like at times, I hadn´t been taught and didn´t quite understand what was included in the assignments. However, it´s the kind of thing that you just need to study yourself and your knowledge will improve over time. The pre-course task could have highlighted this aspect a bit more. Despite this criticism, I passed the course with a surprisingly good grade. This really made me feel like the hard work had paid off, and the support from the tutors was excellent. The facilities at Oxford House are outstanding, and I can´t recommend it more as a positive place to both teach and study.

I particularly appreciated the staff’s attention to team building and peer feedback. Whether teaching becomes your career or not, studying at Oxford House influenced me personally and professionally by expanding my skills and helping me identify my strengths and weaknesses. The experience I’ve had and the knowledge I’ve gained is truly worth the time and costs of the program. If anyone is unsure about studying TESOL, I can surely say it is an unforgettable experience.

To those who are still not sure where:

I am proud to have completed the Oxford House / Oxford TEFL Barcelona CertTEFL course successfully (August 2014)! Very (very, very) intense – is the bad part of it, but in return you get new life opportunities in just a one month’s time! Isn’t it fantastic on the other hand?! I couldn’t think this is possible at all, as I was new to teaching, till I’ve discovered courses like this exist, and the highly professional Oxford TEFL ELT trainers make miracles come true – you become a qualified and even an experienced English teacher in just four weeks!

Due to its intensity doing the Trinity Cert TESOL with Oxford TEFL is a wise choice as they reduce the study stress by providing excellent facilities and all the equipment with supplementary materials you may need (you don’t even need to have a laptop or buy any office supplies as other schools often require). Who else has a two-leveled garden with beautiful palm trees within their premises in the very center of a fancy touristic location like Barcelona? As well I wonder how all the computers and supplementary equipment like projectors and printers at Oxford House could always keep working!? I mean all computers that are everywhere around, even in the hallways – you will always have a place to work conveniently. Always available, always on-line and with all kinds of software to use. Good job! I find this being especially helpful for students on such an intensive course like the CertTEFL, when you can’t afford to lose precious time on technical issues. I couldn’t find a better school in terms of location and excellent facilities they provide for studies. Check out their intro videos as it’s exactly how it is in reality.

And outstanding admin support from helping to obtain a Spanish student residence permit (NIE) to finding a job upon passing the course makes it a no doubt where to go for studies – Oxford TEFL Barcelona! This course is worth the money and surpassed my best expectations.

I am writing this from the position of my internship which I am doing in Angamaly, Kerala. I chose to do the TESOL course here because I wanted an entirely different experience; I’ve been to Europe and India appealed to me very much.

From the moment I arrived it has been an incredible experience; I came without reservations about life in India, although some friends and family members voiced their doubts. I can put aside any concerns that you might have. I have met some incredible people (locals, students and teachers) who have extended their Indian hospitality and warmth without limit.

The course itself is incredibly comprehensive and the hands-on experience, as well as the opportunity to teach IELTS (unprecedented within Europe, I think) has elevated my understanding of teaching and grammar exponentially. The teachers are excellent, experienced, thorough and very supportive. The facilities and resources are brilliant.

The great thing about the course in Kerala is the opportunity to stay on to do the internship, which is when the teaching and learning really, really begins. Once more, the transition from TESOL student to teacher of students is well-managed and well-supported. My learning is continuing and I am glad to be able to do it in this environment and within the fabulous state of Kerala.

I cannot recommend the course enough.

I just completed my TEFL course at Oxford TEFL this past June. The course was very intensive and took up most of my time during the four weeks that I was enrolled in it but it was definitely worth it! All of the staff were very professional and very helpful throughout the four weeks. The teaching practice and the feedback sessions were extremely helpful to me as someone who had no teaching practice coming into the course. The facilities and resources at Oxford TEFL in Barcelona are excellent as well. The building is very modern and has a nice terrace out the back with areas for eating and chatting. In short, I would highly recommend the Oxford TEFL course to anyone who is thinking about doing it. While it will be a stressful four weeks of your life, it will also be an extremely formative and enlightening four weeks!

The course is really intensive and demands a full immersion in the process which is not an issue because you will find it interesting, enjoyable and extremely useful for your future job. You will learn what it feels like to be in the shoes of an unknown language student and that despite not being able to speak a word in the target language the students will still be able to understand the teacher and learn successfully. It helps a lot in the teaching practice because you stop distancing yourself from your students and prior to using any material or technique at the lesson you first try it on yourself and see what difficulties your students may encounter and how to overcome them making your lesson as motivating and effective as possible.
You will find that your students and you yourself can be the greatest resource to create the best language lesson where your students will be willing to speak and enjoy using the language in the classroom and you will feel satisfied to realize that now they are confident with the language you have taught them to use it outside the classroom. You will get acquainted with various teaching methods and techniques which will save you a lot of time while planning your lessons and rescue you in a tricky situation in the classroom. You will understand that this wide range of English textbooks is a good resource but they are not necessarily what YOUR students need and you will learn how to vary and adapt the materials for the needs of your students or even create your own ones. You will definitely improve your own language awareness and start to identify the difficulties of the language you may encounter teaching your students and how to cope with them teaching with pedagogical approach focusing on the use of the language and its main function i.e. communication.
I was honored to be taught by such great teacher trainers from OxfordTefl as David Young, Sinead Laffan, Sean Hayward and Adrian Marriot. Being highly professional and efficient they remain so human in the classroom that even being corrected it never feels like criticism , more like a great support of my senior and experienced friends. Overall I really enjoyed the course very much and would recommend anyone interested to go for it. I wish I could do it again)) But life goes on and now it is the time to practice everything I have learnt there! Being a teacher is a hard but gratifying job definitely worth the efforts you put into it. You find you are happy when you see and hear your students speaking the language confidently or they tell you how successfully they use it at work or in the daily life.

I recently completed the Cert. TESOL course in Barcelona after having done the online starter a few months ago. It was an intense but equally amazing four weeks! I think the starter course put me at an advantage because I was already familiar with some teaching theories and I had an idea of what to expect on the full course. That said though, nothing prepares you for standing up in front of a class of willing students on day two!

The course is well organised with great facilities (the new school location is fantastic!) and lots of resources for lesson planning. When they say intense, they mean it. After only three days I had taught two of my own classes and learnt a bit of a completely unknown language with the first assignment looming. Although at times it can be tough, it is manageable and the support from staff and your trainee colleagues gets you through. Day-to-day it’s so difficult not to have a laugh because the atmosphere is just great, despite the major workload!

The best part of it all though is the staff. The tutors are very knowledgeable and are always on hand to answer any questions or go over any ideas for your lessons/assignments. There is lots of extra support available as well e.g. career advice and how best to live and get around a new city.

I feel the course has given me the tools to become a great teacher. It’s easy to see why they have such a good reputation. I’ve not only learnt how to teach English but I’ve been able to discover a new city and make some great friendships in the process. Thanks Oxford TEFL, when’s the next flight to Barcelona?

Selecting Oxford TEFL was one of the best choices I have made for my career in international education.

I am beyond pleased with the experience that I had while studying for my TEFL Certification. The staff were very polite, respectful, intelligent, and capable of teaching in a way that allowed for creativity and growth of the students.

I would suggest that anyone looking to study TEFL consider Oxford TEFL Barcelona for the following reasons:

1. top notch quality facilities and education
2. conveniently located in Barcelona, one of the best cities in Europe
3. opportunity for jobs after graduation

Oxford TEFL in Prague was a great learning experience and I learned every day of the course. I know that there are a lot of scams out there. However, Oxford TEFL was the real deal with an enthusiastic staff who sincerely wanted to pass on their knowledge and experience. It is a crash course so the material can come fast and heavy but they make it as manageable and fun as possible while still making sure that the quality remains high.
I would recommend it to anyone seeking certification to teach English abroad. Without question, every school as soon as we mentioned that we had certification from Oxford TEFL was ready to hire us with only a few formalities thereafter.
Warning: All those seeking easy, boring, and bland teachers – this place is not for you. All those seeking challenging, fun, and eccentric characters (read long haired Scotsman to fiery redheaded Celts) should apply here. You have been warned.

I elected the Oxford TEFL course in Prague after reading some great reviews, and it did not disappoint. Prague itself was a beautiful city with great (and cheap) food and drink.

The course was well structured with the teachers proving themselves to be very engaging, knowledgable and insightful. The feedback was spot on and very helpful, with a constant eye on helping you improve on your next lesson.

The unknown language classes were also very helpful. Other courses do not provide this, but it provides you with a lot of empathy for your students whilst showcasing some great teaching methods.

The course was a success and I am already preparing myself for my first interview for a job in Vietnam.

Overall, a fantastic course with some great teachers.

I took a plane to Barcelona one month ago, thinking to spend some time murmuring obscenities at attractive women on a beach in order to get some sun and adrenaline. One afternoon, I felt dizzy and stopped to rest against the stylish glass front of an english teaching school. I awoke in a small classroom; my hands and legs bound to a chair, in front of me was a charismatic, short-haired woman pointing at a projected image. Besides me, a dozen individuals staring starry-eyed at her, murmuring a strange mantra. I could only pick out the words “correction slot” and “clear lesson plan” before turning to take a second look at the woman at the front of the class. The last thing I remember is staring into her eyes. The strangest eyes, pupils rapidly shifting in size and colour, the most hypnotic thing I’d ever…

I spent a month at Oxford House in a friendly environment, surrounded by helpful trainee teachers, each of whom had a distinct style to learn from. The building looked great, with natural light in most rooms and a nice garden at the back where I’d have lunch with the other initiates, I mean teacher trainees. Despite the clear pecking order established in the printer queue, the regular teachers were also always willing to help out the lost and confused young chicks (and cockerels). Regina gave clear and informative sessions on CV building and the english teaching market, as well as 1 on 1 sessions to help with a job hunt. The teaching method, to explain the content of an input session in its own structure and then push us to apply it in teaching practice, made a man (and more relevantly, a teacher) out of me.

The basic knowledge in phonemics/grammar and how it’s taught was an important part of what I’d hoped to get out of the course, and it was explored in many different ways, to make sure even the nativest of speakers could form a grudging pact with those demons, gaining the powers of language teaching for 24 years in exchange for shoe soles.

The experienced and intellectually attractive tutors knew exactly how much freedom to give me when helping me prepare my lesson plans, and allowed me to get the most of the teaching. There were a lot of lessons to teach, which I’m sure would have felt intensive had I not been brainwashed beforehand.

I awoke from the strange dream. I was on a plane which, according to the voice on the PA, had just arrived at Birmingham International Airport. I shook my head, thinking of the outlandishly effective teacher training I’d dreamed up. As I pulled my bag down from the overhead compartments and stepped out of the aircraft into the grey world that is the UK, my delusional fantasy seemed all the more ridiculous. Scratching my jaw at the strangeness of my own imagination, I stabbed my wrist on something sharp sticking out of my breast pocket. On the small piece of paper was Regina’s e-mail address. Now, she’s helping me find a job this summer. I’d just like to know, for certain, that she, and all the rest, actually exist.

The OxfordTEFL CertTESOL program in Barcelona was fantastic and completely worth the price. I received in-depth, hands-on training and got experience teaching several different levels. The staff was supremely nice and supportive – whenever I had concerns about something they listened and offered advice, even when the question I had was somewhat ridiculous. They always supported you during lesson planning sessions as well, helping you find things in books and giving fantastic ideas about new ways to do your idea that really made classes so much better. I loved that we had so many different tutors to work with because you really could see different teaching styles – it was very helpful when finding my own style to be able to incorporate so many different ideas into my practice teaching sessions. I can’t say enough nice things about the staff here, honestly.

There are even sessions on interviews and how to have a future in TEFL, but if you wanted more guidance then the office was always open to speak with you. You really do feel like you are part of a community there. I’m very happy that I decided to go with this program over other ones I had looked at – especially when comparing my experience to people I know who took on-line only courses, I feel like this was absolutely the best choice. I would suggest this course to anyone looking to be certified as an English teacher.

I was looking to take a TEFL course and I read a blog complaining about whether or not one needed the “fancy” certificate from Oxford, to teach English. The answer is you don’t, but why wouldn’t you want to get the best? That was my reasoning and it proved to be true. I learned more applicable knowledge in the intense five week (with an optional additional week of classes) course than I learned in many college classes.

I wanted to study teaching but I also wanted to be in the classroom immediately so I could know if it was for me. And I was in the classroom immediately. It was one of the most nerve-wracking, yet ultimately satisfying experiences of my life. the teaching practice kept me awake at night and made me sweat through my clothes, but I wouldn’t trade a second of it. And it really does prepare you. Because if you can get through that, you can get through anything. Also the students are wonderful. They all want to learn English and are trying as hard as you are. And we made each other laugh every lesson.

I also learned to look at the English language in a way I never had before. Speaking English fluently and examining it as a language are two very different things, and at first it overwhelmed me but then the knowledge of it sneaks up on you. And helps you help your students figure out this crazy thing called English.

The instructors really know their stuff, and are tough with the feedback, but ultimately want you to succeed and work with you to answer questions, and help you when you’re stuck with lesson planning. The school has a great atmosphere and a great location.

So in summation…/choosing Oxford TEFL Prague was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’m stayed in Prague, beginning my career as an English teacher and grateful for the Oxford community that I stumbled upon, but feel a distinct part of.

If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed by the amount of TEFL courses available and don’t know which one to choose, just give yourself a break, read these reviews and go with Oxford TEFL. You most definitely won’t regret it. It’s not often that I give something a 10/10 score, but for Oxford I will happily make an exception 🙂

I did my tefl course in Prague in January 2014 and it’s amazing how much I’ve learned there in only four weeks. There are lessons about all the different basic teaching skills. These input sessions were never boring thanks to the engaging (and effective!) exercises and the tutors’ great sense of humour. And of course there’s the teaching practice with different groups and different levels of English, which is truly invaluable.

Although it was a very intense course, the tutors made sure it was never too much. They give great input and feedback and are very approachable. If you need help, they are there for you.

Also, the service is great. I really liked the apartment rented out by the school. They can arrange an airport pick-up and if you have any questions before the course starts, you’ll always get a quick response to your email.

I really enjoyed my month at Oxford TEFL in Prague (which is an incredibly beautiful city by the way) and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to start teaching English.

Don’t even think of going to any other organization! Oxford TEFL is the best one out there. On top of the fact that the teachers, here in Prague, are fun, experienced, and extremely helpful, it is accredited by Trinity (I believe to be one of the highest accreditation agencies and is accepted everywhere).

The course is extensive, so get ready to do some work. By the second or third day you are teaching right away, which at first is nerve-racking but extremely helpful for you to get the most time in training as a teacher. There is a helpful library of student/teacher books, computers, and office supplies with a copier/printer which allows for a conducive environment for lesson planning. Also you cycle through different teacher trainers, which all have different styles of teaching. This is the best way to get a diverse view of what techniques you enjoy and create your own teaching style.

Everything you need to know about the course is on the website. Don’t lower yourself by going to any other institute.

I took the course in Barcelona in May, 2011. Initially I was a little worried as I had zero teaching experience, but that worry was quickly mitigated. The staff was professional, knowledgeable, and kind. There was always someone around to help in the preparation of a lesson, followed by a thorough feedback session. We were also encouraged to experiment with different methodologies to develop our own styles, which I found incredibly useful.

I’m now finishing up my second year teaching in South Korea. I have incorporated the lessons I learned at the Oxford House in each of my lessons and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

It was a terrific program and I highly recommend it.

A lot of reviews on here have written about how good the course is and they’re right. The material, facilities, and teaching practice are all top notch. What make Prague Oxford House special to me were the instructors. Each and every one I worked with was extremely competent and experienced in TEFL. So you can count on quality instruction. But they went above and beyond in helping those who struggled, like me. Whether it’s at the beginning just trying to write a lesson plan, in the middle trying to create a material, or at the end when the work becomes overwhelming the instructors were there to help every step of the way. If you feel at all nervous about diving into TEFL this course can give you the quality of instruction to start from and an atmosphere to get you through. Best decision I could’ve made when choosing a course. Thanks to everyone there.

“Teaching from the second day, you’re certainly thrown in the deep end on the Oxford TEFL course! But how else can so much be learnt in just one month? All made possible through a detailed and well organised schedule, supported and guided by a wealth of knowledge from the highly experienced tutors.

Among the most beneficial aspects of the course was the Careers Service. Here in Barcelona, the certTESOL qualification appears to be like gold dust, and with your CV immediately sent out to most of the language centres in the area, you’ll be bombarded with job interviews upon the completion of your course.

Enjoyable, enriching and totally worth the time and money.”

I attended Oxford TEFL Prague in October 2013 and was so glad that I did. It was a month of hard work, but I enjoyed every minute of it. They make it very clear that it’s a tough course and you will be required to work hard and you definitely do! However thanks to wonderful tutors who provide such great support, the work is fun! There was plenty of contact time with the tutors for support and feedback and they are all incredibly helpful with all queries and difficulties such as “I have to teach tomorrow and I have no idea what to teach”, “how do I make a lesson on the past perfect fun?” and of course helping you during the maddening mid course fear that you’re rubbish and can’t do this (of course you can!)

I loved every minute of my course and would recommend it to anybody serious about getting a really good qualification and having a enjoyable time doing it. Do it. You won’t regret it.

The course at Oxford TEFL in Prague was nothing short of amazing. While it was demanding and intensive, it was also very rewarding, insightful and extremely fun. I had done a lot of thorough research on which course to do at which school, and when I decided on Oxford, I knew I had made a good choice. By the time I was halfway through, I knew I had definitely made the best choice.

Teaching practice with real students began almost immediately. As we learned from our own style and our own mistakes, we were provided with tremendously insightful feedback after every lesson, challenging us to adapt and improve. The tutors are superstars – professional, knowledgeable, approachable and supportive. They made it seem like a breeze (it wasn’t, but they did a damned good job at making us better at it). The course was practically bursting with information, but its structure and progression made it manageable and fun. We had various workshops and seminars on grammar, phonology, vocabulary, Business English, teaching young learners, finding jobs, and more. The school is central, welcoming and well-equipped and the receptionists are lovely and always ready to help.

Doing the course at Oxford has helped me not only establish myself and develop as a teacher, but made me more confident on the whole. I wouldn’t have approached a presentation role with a ten-foot pole before doing this course, and now I’m teaching and managing classes of 12+ students every morning and loving every minute of it. I highly recommend the experience to anyone interested in teaching. You will be a better person for doing it.

I had already received previous recommendations for doing this particular course – my mother was course director for a part-time Trinity Cert TESOL here in my home town and my sister had been with the Barcelona branch of Oxford TEFL. They both gave me, I believe, essential advice if you want to continue in the field of EFL teaching; “pick the right CERTIFIED TEFL course”. I believe I did.

The course itself was not only eye-opening from a linguistic perspective, but incredibly effective at providing a good range of information that could be digested in the space of just a month. What really makes me appreciate the course is that they made it an incredibly enjoyable experience while still being intensive – and the course IS intensive. I knew this going in and I was a little apprehensive. However, it was also the most fun I have ever had while learning which of course made me want to put effort into my studies. This was due to a variety of reasons. First of all, the tutors at Oxford TEFL were outstanding. While they obviously had an element of professionalism about them, the classroom environment was very positive in that it was clear that they enjoyed their jobs, which of course is a great positive-reinforcement based motivational tool for the trainees. I also think that it is quite rare to have a level of report with the tutors that I found on this particular course. They were friendly and accommodating, but certainly were there to give you a kick in the backside or some strong motivation words if you needed them! It was clear that they really did want you to succeed – and that was a nice feeling as a trainee.

In terms of teaching practice, we were thrown into the deep end almost immediately – but that was most certainly a good thing. Teaching was enjoyable and rewarding and I quickly found my particular method and mannerisms. The feedback I received was fantastic and every piece moulded my next lesson, thus I found I continually improved as a teacher.

The 4 weeks I spent on the course, not only gave me invaluable information and teaching experience (and of course a hard Trinity Cert TESOL!) that I can use with my on my TEFL travels, but also some memories that I will cherish for years to come. I highly recommend Oxford TEFL.

TWO THUMBS UP.

I can’t stress it enough! If you want to take a TEFL course in Prague, Oxford is the place to do it.

The course was both well organised in terms of progression of content and well thought out in terms what content to employ in such a short period. Having previously worked in marketing I was under the assumption that I was capable of producing excellent English and would therefore be capable of teaching it with ease. How wrong I was!
Grammatical complexities such as infinitive and gerund use were beyond my capacity to explain, and my ability to produce a lesson from scratch was non-existent. The incredibly personable staff were there to assist from day one, taking on our questions and fears (sometimes outside of hours at a pub) and turning them into strengths.

The teaching practice was invaluable as we were put in front of classes of real students in a trial and error approach to learning to teach. Each teaching practice session concluded with an in depth feedback session during which we would work together with our tutors to highlight and maintain our personal strengths, and acknowledge and gain advice on how to improve our weaknesses.
The teachers were all experienced and knowledgeable beyond compare, and as a result I felt safe in the knowledge that I was getting the best education available.

The course also included a workshop on job searching and adjusting our CV and experiences to suit what potential employers were looking for. They even sent out my CV for me to a number of schools in Prague!

The facilities are up to date, with projectors and computers in most rooms allowing trainees the opportunity to experiment with different mediums.

The course was social, fun, exciting, and invaluable. I learned more than I imagined I would and forged friendships that will last for years to come. I cannot find a single flaw in this course, and I would gladly recommend it to family, friends, and strangers alike.

OxfordTefl in Barcelona – THE place to get your CertTESOL! I just had the most enjoyable and rewarding 4 weeks there and would recommend this course to anyone considering a TEFL qualification, especially now they’re at shiny new school premises! I considered doing my course with another provider in London, but am so glad I chose OxfordTEFL and Barcelona – I had the chance to use my Spanish outside the course and my knowledge of Spanish certainly came in useful for the Learner Profile project, as I could more easily understand why my learner made the mistakes she did when producing English: an advantage I probably wouldn’t have had in my home town. Oh, and no home life distractions either! The help and support from the tutors and other staff at OxfordTefl was amazing. Even when your teaching practice might not have gone as well as you’d hoped, or your lesson planning was not going to plan, they were there with encouragement and support. The resources available to you are good – course books to help with your lesson planning, computers to help create your own lesson materials and write up your projects. It was a crazy 4 weeks and there’s no denying the intensity and amount of work required. But by far an experience I’ll remember fondly for a very long time, and some long term friendships made with my fellow trainees. Thanks again to Course Director Anna Stubbs and everyone else on the TESOL team at OxfordTefl.

They manage to pack so much into the course and it’s very intense as a result, however, I always felt that I was fully supported by all the staff with regards lesson planning, coursework completion, accommodation and pretty much anything else.

What’s more, the teaching staff really know their stuff! They have a good variety of teaching approaches between them and I always had really productive feedback sessions with them which really helped me grow into the role of a teacher.

I took the Oxford TEFL course in Prague in Sept. 2013, and it was an excellent course! The course is rigorous, so be prepared to do a lot of work! The tutors were all very knowledgeable and humble. This was refreshing because they gave you the chance to try your own methods, but were there to help when you needed it. They were also easy to joke around with, providing a perfect balance of serious teaching and fun. The student teaching was enjoyable, getting to see the same students for more than one lesson, and even getting to know them outside of class. The course content was very useful, I learned a lot that I didn’t know about the English language. Job placement for our fellow teachers staying in Prague seemed to work out very well. Unfortunately Oxford TEFL didn’t have many contacts in Bali or Thailand, where I decided to teach. Despite this, they did their best to connect us with past teachers that went to teach in Indonesia, and helped as they were able, including providing us with a list of schools in Bali to send our CVs to. They also reviewed our CVs for us before we sent them out. The quality of feedback from the tutors was very good – you could tell they were paying attention to your lesson and really analyzing it so that they could help you with their comments. They were excellent at giving you a good balance of positive feedback and suggestions. Overall the course was excellent, and what really made it were the tutors (including the director, who is also a tutor)!

I’m so glad that I went to Oxford Tefl in Prague to gain my Trinity Cert TESOL qualification. I have only just completed the October course, so it is hard to gauge my job prospects at the moment. However, I have still received a lot of support to get a job for January next year. I’m unsure of the their help for teachers hoping to work outside of Europe, but if you wish to work on the continent their support is brilliant and they have great links with other language schools.

The Course was fantastic, undoubtedly intense, yet incredibly rewarding and a must if you wish to teach English abroad. I learnt so much from the tutors, from their feedback which was always astute with the right balance of positive feedback and fair criticism, making it clear on the areas you needed to improve upon. All the tutors were brilliant though, all of them had so much experience and knowledge of teaching which meant you were constantly learning stuff from them. They were also all very friendly and approachable meaning if you ever needed support they were always there to help. They also made doing the course a joy, even when it was at its most intense, we still had fun together.

You also of course cover everything necessary for teaching such as grammar, phonology and vocabulary as well as all preparing you for job interviews and help in creating a TEFL C.V. Spending time in a great city such as Prague is also a great opportunity which shouldn’t be ignored.

My only criticism was that I wished there was a larger area for trainees to use in the evenings when looking through the course books, as it could get cramped if multiple teachers stayed behind for lesson ideas. However, I am aware that on a practical level it’s not really possible.

Overall I had an amazing time and was sad when the course finished!

I took the Oxford TEFL course in Prague in September 2013, and I don’t know how I would have managed without it. The course is a lot of work, but this is not a bad thing. If you want to become a competent English teacher in four weeks, then it’s necessary to devote 8-10 hours a day learning the trade.
The course gave us plenty of teaching practice with adult students at varying levels. After the course was over we also had the opportunity to take extension courses in Business English and English for Young Learners, both of which helped me improve my teaching further.
The tutors were amazing! All very experienced English teachers who know the ins and outs of teaching, but also very friendly and approachable people with a good sense of humor. The feedback they would give was honest and direct, and it helped to make sure that I got better every time I taught. They were always available in the mornings to help you get that day’s lesson plan together and to help you test it out beforehand. Lesson planning was made even easier due to an extensive library which had any ESL textbook you could possibly want.
Job placement was great, and Sinead made the extra effort to make sure our CV’s went out early so that finding work in Prague would be even easier for us.
I highly recommend that anyone interested in becoming an English teacher take this course. Not only will you get a well recognized certification, but you will leave feeling confident in your teaching abilities and will make a lot of new friends along the way.

I took Oxford TEFL’s September 2013 course in Prague. The city is amazing, and a great location to experience Eastern Europe. It proved to be intensive, and was well worth the hard work. If you are willing to put in the effort you will find the class to be rewarding, despite your previous experience/background. We had students in the class from all around the U.S, as well as outside of the U.S. You have the opportunity to meet new people and collaborate many times throughout the course, whether it be student teaching or in class activities/group work. You have ample time to practice teaching in the classroom and it really prepares you for a job as you are expected to prepare lesson plans and teach various levels of adult ESL learners. I taught in South Korea a few years before taking the course, and am so glad I decided to get my certification with Oxford. Not only did I learn invaluable classroom experience, but the course content also very useful in mastering the English language. The course focused on lessons for grammar and phonology, and even a foreign language class.

Last but not least, the teachers are extremely helpful! They really want you to succeed and guide you each step of the way. You are expected to put in the work, but they are more than happy to assist you and guide you in the right direction. Each one of them has a different teaching style that really helps you see various methods, as opposed to the same one. I highly recommend the course for anyone interested in teaching ESL! 🙂

I can’t imagine jumping into my first job as an English teacher in China without the kind of training provided by Oxford TEFL. I completed the course at the Prague location in June 2013, but have waited to review the course until after I had some time in my job to determine how well it has prepared me.

I’m not sure I could imagine having a better experience for CertTESOL training. I was extremely pleased with the course in all facets. I found the instructors personable, fun, knowledgeable, experienced, helpful, and motivating. Though they were all different, the diversity in their approaches to the ELT classroom made the experience rich. Their feedback on the practice teaching was one of the most important parts of the course. Having the opportunity for high-quality English teachers to give you pointers on your own lessons is worth the cost of the course in itself. All of the instructors had helpful insights that I believe have made me a much better teachers.

The course covers a lot of ground in a few short weeks, but it moves fast. The content is largely introductory/summary of what you need to know as a English teacher but it sets you up well for advancing your knowledge and skills as you begin to teach in a job. I have found that the course gave me a strong foundation to build upon even as I continue to learn how to teach! The course is largely set up to prepare you to teach in a generic private language school classroom with a handful of motivated students, which is important to know if you plan to teach in a different context. I teach in a university in China where I have 40 students per class, where I only teach speaking, where the students are graded, and the classroom is a small auditorium. This means, there was a lot left for me to adapt and learn on my own.

My fellow trainees were a blast to get to know as well, which only made the course that much more fun! Prague is pretty awesome itself so that’s a major plus too.

I would definitely recommend this course to anyone interested.

A really intense class, but worth every minute. We had plenty of practice teaching adults of varying levels, and we had classes that covered everything from lesson planning and classroom management to grammar and phonology. I definitely felt prepared for teaching in a classroom after taking this course! The tutors are all excellent– great sense of humor, great feedback, really knowledgeable, and always warm and welcoming.

Since this course was based in Prague, they had plenty of contacts in the Czech Repulic and Europe. Not as much if you’re thinking of teaching in Asia, but still helpful in the preparation of resumes and interview tactics.

Overall, I’d choose this TEFL Course again! And Prague’s an amazing place to live and study for four weeks!

The course is super intensive and you sometimes don’t get the time to eat or even sleep (:P) but it is so worth it. I took the course in August of 2013 in Prague and I enjoyed it immensely. For someone who has never traveled much, let alone to Europe, working with OxfordTEFL was a painless way to ease into the country and acquire a TESOL certificate.

The course was rigorous and forced you to apply yourself from Day 1, but it proved to be a motivational builder by days end. The instructors all work hard, play hard, and do what needs to get done.

If you’re intending to go through a course to acquire a TESOL cert, look no further. OxfordTEFL should be your place. I definitely recommend it (just as I had it recommend to me).

I studied the Trinity cert TESOL in the Barcelona school, and found it a very stimulating experience. I thought the overall quality of teaching was excellent, and the vast majority of programme content relevant and well presented. The neighbourhood is also very central and attractive. The support you get from the school in finding a job is also excellent, and continues after you’ve left. Also useful is that you receive a welcome pack with all sorts of useful information to help you navigate the practical and cultural aspects of living in Barcelona.

I would balance this review by saying that I felt too little time was spent overall learning how to plan one-to-one classes, which have such a different energy and character from group classes. While learning on the job is important, one-to-one teaching can make up a significant amount of future work, so I feel more course time should have been given to the best ways to find private students, plan the classes, and keep the momentum going. Having said this, I’m not sure if this is a feature of other courses, and generally think it should be!

Overall, I would highly recommend this course and the school. I learnt a lot, made great friends and contacts, and it has enabled me to live in one of the world’s greatest cities!

I am from Chile and I did the TEFL course in june 2013 in Barcelona. My experience was good, the course encourages you and gives you loads of experince to teach.
As a non native is a little difficult to find jobs but if you are creative and tenacious there are ways to make it happen and you always count with the support of the staff.
I learned very much and my classmates were great people as the teachers and tutors.
Dont let this opportunnity pass by is worth it.

I completed the Oxford TEFL program in Prague in May, 2013. After conducting A LOT of research on various TEFL programs (including reading reviews on this particular site), I chose to participate in this program. I am VERY happy that I did.

What impressed me most about this program was the competency and knowledge of the instructors. I found their feedback, teaching styles, advice and overall insight extremely helpful, innovative and very relevant to today’s ever-changing teaching environment. I walked away from this program not only knowing how to better analyze a student’s/class’s capabilities and challenges, but I also received TONS of brilliant and creative new strategies/methods to utilize in my own classroom.

Additionally, the laid-back and easy-going classroom atmosphere at the Oxford TEFL school also helped boost my confidence as an instructor. The students at the school were fantastic.

Everyone also comments that this course is intensive and a lot of work. This is true. However, if you are an organized and focused person, you won’t have any problems. Just stay on top of the assignments, manage your time effectively and before you know it, the course is over!

I highly recommend this program. You won’t regret it!

I completed the CertTESOL with Oxford TEFL in Barcelona in July 2013. Having been quite apprehensive about undertaking a TEFL course beforehand (not having had any teaching experience), I am pleased that I took the plunge and went for it. It was a really enjoyable month.
The tutors on the course provide lots of support for the trainees and are regularly available to provide advice on how to go about lesson planning, as well as answering burning questions as they arise.
Whilst I initially found the prospect of teaching quite nerve-wracking, the classroom environment was very friendly and this soon enabled me to relax and gain confidence from the experience.
The feedback from the tutors following the lessons was also very valuable. I found their constructive criticism hugely helpful in terms of looking at how to improve on my teaching for the next lesson.
As many of these reviews have said, the course is very intense and alot of work; and should certainly not be viewed as a holiday. But equally it is enjoyable, interesting, stimulating and thoroughly worth the effort.
I would certainly recommend Oxford TEFL to anyone considering a career in teaching, and also to those not sure about their long-term future but perhaps wanting to experience a change from the norm.
Thanks for a great month; I look forward to applying all I have learnt in the classroom.

There are many reasons to choose OXFORD TEFL versus a cheaper online course. When it came time for me to choose, the answer was clear: Study-Abroad in Prague! Immediately after arriving in that beautiful city I was sure I had made the right choice!

When I arrived at the appartment I was met by Shinead, who welcomed me to Prague and introduced me to my new roomies. The appartment itself was very comfortable, and was a great environment for both studying and socializing. The school was a short walk away, and was surrounded by great places to break for lunch. The coursework was heavy and hard work, but I still felt like I had time to enjoy the city.

Addmitely, the coursework itself had little to do with me choosing OXFORD TEFL versus online. Now, after a year of teaching, I am even more confident that I made the right choice in choosing OXFORD because the course content, especially the Practicum, is much richer than anything an online course could offer. When I finished the course I felt confident and well prepared for the ESL classroom. I learned so much from the course, from linguistics, to teaching methods, to suriving and thriving in the ESL industry… but most importanly I learned the skills to continually improve my teaching on my own.

TL;DR I fully reccomend OXFORD TEFL versus an online course. You don’t want to miss this amazing opportunity to travel, explore and learn.

I recently finished the July course at OxfordTEFL here in Prague, and I have to say I loved every minute of it!
Before I came to Prague I was given great support by the school with regards to accommodation etc. I had to arrive a day early and instead of it being an issue, everything was organised for me. I was picked up from the airport and promptly taken to one of the 2 fantastic student apartments.
With regards to the School itself, I found it to a great place to be. Most students stayed after class to use the resources available to us; there are lots of textbooks in the library that helped me a lot.
For me the best asset OxfordTEFL has is it’s fantastic staff. Every one of the tutors made us feel welcomed and gave us such great advice and guidance. Not all of the Tutors share the exact same ideology with regards to teaching practice so you can get an idea of what best suits you when teaching, rather than feeling like you’re becoming a teaching robot!
All in all, I really enjoyed myself, learned so much about teaching and the English language in general and also made some great friends along the way.

I took my Trinity TESOL in Barcelona this year at Oxford House, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The course was well balanced, interesting and most of all really fun. For me it perfectly combined the fundamental theory and knowledge of Language with genuine hands on practice teaching. Whilst I was encouraged to work independently and use my own ideas, a helping hand was never far away when needed. Moreover, regular and thorough feedback sessions enabled me to improve and develop as a teacher. I leave Oxford House not only with a TESOL qualification, but with a confidence in the classroom and a real desire to continue teaching English in the future. Thanks a lot!

I completed my Trinity Cert TESOL course in May 2013, I had an absolute blast and could not recommend OxfordTEFL highly enough. I completed the course in Prague and must thank Sinead for her pre-course correspondence, she was quick to reply to any queries and from accommodation to airport transfers made the whole experience as stress-free as possible. Another excellent element of the OxfordTEFl was the pre-course task which was a thorough introduction to the course, it is important to take this element seriously as it will be invaluable during the course and to pass the grammar test. This course is not for idle people, you will be doing something every evening whether that is planning lessons or writing coursework, however it is manageable if you keep on top of it from week one. The tutors are fantastic in terms of the teaching observations and the input sessions, most importantly you can have a laugh with them and there isn’t anything they won’t answer. The school in Prague is in a great location, the students are a lot of fun and they have an extensive library to aid teaching practice. Although the employment services are limited, I was put in contact with a number of ex-students who have been invaluable in helping me apply for jobs in South Korea. Finding you a job after is not really in their remit, and OT are clear about this but they gave me great help regardless.

If you’re bored and looking for a new adventure, a course at OT would be a great investment. If you are set on working in Prague then you won’t find a better route. Thanks again OT Prague for a great time!

I did my TEFL course in Barcelona in July 2012, and can safely say that the whole experience was fantastic. The input sessions were all relevant and helpful – being put in the position of a student (especially with the unknown language) to learn teaching methods from the receiving end was very beneficial. I liked the practicality of the set up and had confidence in the staff. Teaching practice started on day three, building up from twenty minutes, to thirty, to forty-five and finally a whole hour. Though I was at first terrified, feedback was constructive and I soon found my feet and started to enjoy my lessons. Sharing a class with two other people was also a good support system as we helped each other through. The course was well structured and though intense, the workload was always manageable.

Being new to Barcelona, the school’s help in finding accommodation for the month was invaluable. If I have one criticism, it would be that in hindsight I possibly would have opted to stay with a host rather than in the school flat, but that is something very minor.

Oxford TEFL is a professional and welcoming school and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to gain their qualification.

I completed the Trinity TESOL course with Oxford TEFL in Prague in May 2013. The course is quite intensive and there is a lot of information to take on, particularly in the first week. However, the teaching practice sessions are really valuable and a great opportunity to experiment with different learning strategies and activities. In total I had 375 minutes of teaching practice across the four weeks, which was ample opportunity to try different things. Often the best way to learn is through failure, and I learnt the most through the lessons that didn’t work as well. The feedback is very candid but in the nature of constructive criticism to allow candidates to improve. The written assignments alongside the teaching practice are very time-consuming if done properly but the learner profile is a valuable opportunity to analyse a student’s specific areas for improvement. All in all, a very worthwhile experience and excellent preparation for a future TEFL role.

The training staff were very helpful and supportive. The course content was relevant and timely, allowing me to pull all the pieces together in order to deliver an effective lesson. What was also effective was how we were thrown straight into the teaching practice. This helped me to overcome any nerves as I didn’t have the time to think about it. Feedback was provided throughout the course so I knew exactly were I was and what areas I needed to focus on. I was also very grateful for the help that was provided to me when I was looking for my first teaching position in Barcelona. I think without the help of the staff at Oxford House this would have been quite difficult for me, especially as I was new to the city and the profession. Oxford House BCN:

It was a pleasure to learn how to teach English while completing my CertTESOL in Barcelona during August of 2012. Upon my friend’s recommendation, I decided to learn now to teach my first language here in Barcelona. From my interview to my last exam, I found the centre and the staff to be beyond helpful, happy, and intelligent.

Going to the Girona Centre every day to learn something new was so much fun. Ana was very kind and helpful with lesson planning, Regina was great with career placement, and Duncan, the director, was very approachable and open. These are all pluses when it comes to learning in my experience. These mentors and other colleagues of mine helped me learn how to find the heart of each class so as to activate each student of mine.

The training that any teacher receives is a gift, and I hope that you can enjoy just that if you so desire to advance your career teaching English here in Barcelona. Smiles, sunshine, and smart people await you at Oxford TEFL Barcelona.

I am delighted to write about attending and completing the TESOL at Oxford TEFL Barcelona.
The TESOL qualification is a very high standard, respected world wide and the personal contact from Oxford House staff before the course helped me make the decision to enroll. The teaching staff are always helpful and understanding with any problems connected to the course work or teaching practice.

Course content was in depth covering many aspects and different levels of teaching such as: one to one, business , children and adult learners. Most importantly the course taught us how different people learn, letting them find their own path to learning and watching enthusiasm blossom.

Practice teaching was a great help with colleague and self appraisal (which the Brits are not so good at) yet it gave confidence and encouragement. Feedback from teaching staff verbal and written was always positive and professional, pushing us to improve when necessary. Lesson planning and sticking to the plan within the time limits was a steep curve. We learnt to engage the students, leave them to study and absorb, then activate the lesson, closely mentored by Oxford House staff

The school is light and airy with study facilities equipment to making learning learning aids (such as picture cards). Oxford House are now helping me to apply for a teaching position and not forgetting Barcelona is a great city to study in, after a hard day or burning the midnight oil with assignments you can step into a friendly bar or explore the city sites.

I completed the Oxford Tefl course in February 2013 in Barcelona and could not be happier with the experience i had. The course was great in terms of teaching the trainees the fundamentals of teaching and learning languages, and i feel that it thoroughly prepared all the trainees in meeting the demands and expectations of working in tefl. The course content was very useful and i genuinely learnt a lot during the four weeks and the facilities were excellent as there were quality computers and projecters in all my classrooms.

However, The aspect that stood out the most for me was the encouragement and enthusiasm of the tutors, who gave excellent feedback and helped the trainees significantly improve their teaching skills in such a short period. Furthermore, the career service was excellent and managed to get me some interviews by the end of the course, and i quickly found paid work thereafter.

Overall i would thoroughly recommend the Oxford Telf Barcelona course to anyone who is interested in teaching english.

I completed the Oxford TEFL course in January in Barcelona, following my move to the region. The course was intense in terms of the volume of work, so be prepared for that, but I expect that would be true of any TEFL course. I found the course extremely fulfilling and good fun, and as long as you organise yourself and stay on top of things, it is manageable. The course itself was very well organised and coordinated, and the tutors and director were always on hand for advice and feedback. There is a very useful career service, which is available during the course, and indefinitely following completion. In fact all the staff at the training school were very helpful and always made time to help with whatever was needed. It was a good atmosphere and I met some great people, and I also discovered how much I enjoy teaching. Overall, it was a very positive experience.

Choosing a TEFL certification course in 2012, I found a great opportunity: a combined program in Cadiz, Spain: 1 month of Spanish and 5 weeks of Trinity TESOL course. The place is perfect for taking such an intense course: while you have kilometers of beautiful beaches to unwind after a week of hard work, the town itself is very quiet, cozy and much less stressful than cities like Barcelona, etc. Nothing will distract you from learning- but you can always take your time by the Atlantic Ocean.

The tutors in Cadiz couldn’t be more skilled and inspiring: a great team of professionals with different (but not contradicting) approaches to teaching and personalities. The amount of support during teaching practice was sufficient and the feedback made our development easier and more conscious.

The only drawbacks worth mentioning were: no wifi in the shared flats provided (the school had wifi, and there is free public wifi on some squares, but it’d be helpful to have it in handy) and not very informative career service: it didn’t help include any special tips that could help me as a non-native speaker and a non-EU citizen.

Anyway, I would highly recommend the course for all the people who want to enjoy learning – and teaching in sunny Spain.

Whilst this place may not have all the whistles and bells of other places in terms of technology: these guys give more bang per buck than I’ve ever seen in over 15 years of adult education (albeit in a different sector). The quality of the feedback and instruction was second to none, all of the staff were friendly, knowledgable and up for a laugh and, despite being one of the ONLY independently and officially accredited places in Prague, there was no false sense of elitism or pompousness: simply a quiet air of confidence that came across in the competence and professionalism of the tutors.

I was also hugely impressed by the job placement and careers support offered. Whilst I had no need to use this service I know that all of the guys that DID use it had interviews and job offers before the course had finished.

A great experience: hard work, good times and an award worth its weight in gold anywhere in the world. . . need I say more?

I took the January 2013 course in Prague, and it was fantastic. It was very intense, but also tons of fun!

I got a lot of practice time with actual students, which was great because I’d never taught before. I also felt like the teachers were EXTREMELY knowledgable not just about practical teaching but about educational theories, etc. OxfordTEFL has a communicative focus, which is exactly what the schools I’ve interviewed with here in Prague are looking for. They also have great job support, especially as you look for work after the course. Sinead’s help has been invaluable, and through her I have had several interviews. The location is also fantastic. As are their supporting materials- OHP, computers and dictaphones, ample printer/copier access, digital projectors, etc.

They also offer intensive post-course classes in Business English, Teaching Young Learners, and Technology in the Classroom. These courses also look great on a resume and are very helpful!

Overall, I’d definitely recommend OxfordTEFL in Prague for anyone who wants to teach English as a foreign language.

I completed the Trinity CertTESOL course with Oxford TEFL in January 2013 in Barcelona. What a wonderful program! The tutors were so knowlegeable and helpful. Anna, Neil, and Cat were just great. You can tell they really care about what they’re doing, and they’re so experienced! You are thrown right into teaching on day 2 which is a bit intimidating, but you learn by doing! They are right there to help you lesson plan and answer any questions. Coming in to the program, I had zero experience teaching and did not know what to expect. After only 4 (INTENSIVE) weeks I feel completely confident that I can teach English to non-native speakers. The support from the staff was there from day one, and the lifelong career resources are invaluable. I feel that so many doors have opened for me now due to this program. And, most importantly, it’s FUN! Thanks, Oxford!

I have recently completed my TESOL course at Oxford House, Barcelona and would highly recommend it!
Although the course was intense (as promised!), it was rewarding and the best way to experience teaching English. Students are allowed ample teaching practice, receiving close guidance and advice in planning lessons, and thorough feedback after classes to help improve teaching skills.
The support is wonderful: there is always someone to ask for advice and query and questions which might occur throughout the our weeks. In addition, the career service is helpful at providing advice and tips upon completing the course: the help we received designing our CVs was invaluable.
Therefore I would highly recommend OxfordTEFL to help anyone who wishes to gain their TESOL certificate.

After extensive research and comparisons regarding course price, resources, staff friendliness and help, location, course content etc, I chose Oxford TEFL (in Prague, 2007) as it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for.

From the moment we started the course, I was made to feel welcome and comfortable on the school/teaching premises and was also given invitations to various social events around Prague, organised occasionally by the school and also by other students.

The teacher trainers, and the office staff were among the kindest, most enthusiastic people I have ever come across, which made the whole course a highly positive and motivating experience for myself and my fellow students. When difficulties arose, they were catered to efficiently and carefully, which I believe, helped each individual student get the most out of the course.

I highly recommend Oxford TEFL to anyone wishing to delve into the world of English teaching as an exceptional place to study and a great group of people to learn from.

I have just finished studying at Oxford House in Barcelona and can safely say that it has been one of the most positive experiences of my life.

The centre is situated in an exciting part of the city that offers a wide selection of bars and shops. A late-running metro station that can take you to anywhere in Barcelona is only a few meteres away. As a non-Spanish speaker, I had been worried about finding my way about and living effectively in the city for a month. My concerns were quickly brushed aside, however, as the people of Barcelona were happy to offer their assistance.

Simply put, the staff at the centre are 100% dedicated to you succeeding. They offer trainees invaluable lesson-planning guidance, sharpen their understanding of the English language and offer them concise feedback after each teaching session. Moreover, no trainee is alienated upon gaining their TESOL certificate. Oxford House’s fantastic career’s office enables trainees to network with teachers across the globe and gives them CV advice long after completing the course.

The idea of giving up my regular day job to embark upon a new and challenging career would have been impossible had it not been for my time spent at Oxford TEFL, Prague.
I completed the Trinity CertTESOL in August 2012 and four months down the teaching road, I can honestly say it alone has provided the solid basis upon which I can continue to develop as a teacher.

From the very outset of application, Oxford TEFL provided concise and relevant information and facts. Useful info was offered about the city and the accommodation that was provided was brilliant. (I had a wonderful balcony apartment overlooking Petrin Hill-perfect for the summer evenings!!)

The pre-course task was really helpful, and prepared me for what to anticipate on the course itself- I feel that I arrived in Prague prepared to undertake the Trinity Cert. TESOL.

Throughout the course itself, the knowledgeable guidance from the staff, the input sessions and also the hours of real-time teaching practise was second to none. Nothing was ever too much bother and just as we were encouraged to build a strong rapport with our students, the teaching staff too created a positive learning environment for the trainees; offering support and advice to our queries.

Post course, Oxford TEFL offer additional day courses in Business English and also Teaching Young Learners- both with a great structure and content, and personally they have been of value when applying for job positions.

Throughout the course, we were encouraged and challenged and although it required hard work and organisation, it was most definitely the most positive learning experience I have had of recent years. I have acquired new skills and abilities that 5 months ago I didn’t think were possible.

Simply, I couldn’t recommend Oxford TEFL and its staff enough!!!
Thank-you!!

The intensive 4 week course effectively incorporated every aspect of what an english teacher would have to know and experience in order to be a great teacher. The course work is challenging but the instructors were there every step of the way to help us succeed. The career services office was invaluable since I was able to find work immediately after completing the course. Also, being in Barcelona and taking this course is amazing. I definitely recommend coming to this city and experiencing the culture of Catalonia.

The accommodation they found me was perfect for my needs and everyone on the course were very friendly. This was good as I was told I would be teaching on 2nd day there. No need to be scared the tutors made sure I was fully prepared and it turned into a good experience and with there feedback it gave me a great basis to work on, I now feel fully confident to teach a variety of levels and I couldn’t have done it without their help. The school is in a nice part of the city, relaxed atmosphere inside, and everyone is working towards the same goal. I have just completed my course at OxfordHouse Barcelona and it was one of the most rewarding experiences I have undertaken in any career. Everyone at OxfordHouse is welcoming and helpful who support you the whole way through the course, but encourage you to think independently by nurturing your emerging teaching skills. The course plan was well laid out and each taught session helped with learning how to teach and to lesson plan. The careers service headed up by Regina made you feel that the possibilities of getting a job once qualified were very real indeed and even when graduated they continue looking for work for you!

I cannot say enough good things about my time at Oxford TEFL Prague. I went in completely inexperienced and left with the training and confidence that allowed me to find a teaching job with a great school in the city almost immediately.

The course is hard work, so you have to be prepared for it, but you will leave with skills and abilities that you never thought you had. The course content is balanced and the staff are some of the kindest and most amazing teachers I have ever encountered.

Teaching real classes with experienced teachers providing feedback sessions afterwards is to this day one of the most helpful things I’ve ever gotten from teacher training, and I still find myself using a lot of the tricks and techniques I picked up from these feedback sessions on a regular basis.

Finally, the network that you are exposed to through the resources at Oxford TEFL is immeasurable. I had no problem finding work after graduating and I owe a lot of that to the school and its staff. I am so grateful for the friends and colleagues that I made during my time there.

If you’re looking for a high quality program that will teach you everything you need to know and more, I would recommend that you go with Oxford. You’re not going to regret it.

I completed the Trinity CertTESOL in August 2012. From start to finish Oxford TEFL was the best. before I arrived in Prague I was constantly bombarding the staff with questions about both the course and about Prague. They were so incredibly helpful. The pre-course task really helped me prepare for what was ahead. I have to say that the whole process was rather daunting – moving to a country and not speaking the language, new people, a new job, etc. but the Oxford TEFL staff are second to none and I left feeling very well prepared to teach in the real world. I highly recommend anyone interested in teaching in Prague begin their journey at Oxford TEFL. Sinead, the careers officer is great, she is great at helping you figure out what you want to do and how to get there. I had a number of interviews before the course was ever over thanks to her. The trainers are really knowledgeable and are always available to assist the students. If I could do it over again I wouldn’t change a thing. Great overall experience.

I completed my teacher training at Oxford TEFL Prague July 2012. After a few months of searching on the internet for a legitimate, world recognized certification that had also gotten good reviews, I decided to head to Prague to train as a TEFL teacher. From the moment I completed the application and interview process until the time I finished the course and was searching for a job, I couldn’t have been happier with my decision to get certified at Oxford. The staff are all wonderful and very helpful to you both before, during, and after the course. I had so many questions about the course and working abroad, but Sinead was very prompt with answers over email. The course itself is challenging, but if you are willing to work hard, is isn’t too difficult to pass. I had no previous teaching experience, so I felt there was a bit of a learning curve. During the first week, I as a little overwhelmed by all of the assignments and information thrown out, but by the second week, I started to fall into a good routine. I cannot stress how important and helpful it is as a teacher trainee to gain real experience during your teaching practice in teaching real non-native English speaking students. The facilities at Oxford were alright, but we have a massive class and so some of the resources (such as computers, printers, copier) was a bit stretched. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely recommend them–they know what they’re doing!

Overall I was very pleased with the course, as well as the instructors. I believe that the course helped a lot to prepare me for a job teaching English as a foreign language. I especially enjoyed the time that I had to practice my lessons, and I always found the feedback that I received from the instructors to be very useful l. I also feel that the opportunity that I had to observe the instructors teach has been very useful to me as well. My favorite part of the course was the unknown language section. This part of the course was extremely interesting, and I have found it to be very useful to me as a teacher. The course can be extremely intense and difficult at times, but I never felt that they were asking you to do something that was unnecessary or unreasonable. I always felt that the instructors were there for you if and when you needed any help as well, and as long as you were taking the course seriously you would be able to handle it. Also, they provide a lot of resources for everyone when it comes to finding a job, and after completing the course I found a great job in Indonesia, which I really enjoy, and that I would not have gotten had it not been for Oxford Tefl. Overall I am very happy that I took the course with Oxford Tefl, and I would recommend them to anyone.

OxfordTEFL certTESOL July 2012.

This course provided a unique experience to interact with a variety of personalities of like-minded people seeking to be certified teach English. As shown by my rating, this course in every category was excellent. The content of the course from grammar, vocabulary, phonology to practicum teaching and methods of lesson planning was useful and presented in ways that we could actually take with us to our own lessons. Practice teaching was an enlightening experience for me since I am already a teacher in the US. I found myself working hard to improve each lesson successfully. I rated feedback the lowest because although some of my feedback was sufficient, I thought overall that the feedback was generalized and unusable for any lasting effects. The facilities were adequate, provided materials and a place to teach, although often there wasn’t enough space for all students to do work with classes going on. A must mention is that city of Prague for this specific program. The program wouldn’t be the same without this city, if for no other reason you should choose Prague as the city to do this program. I have a contracted US teaching job so I did not seek job placement, nor can I rate it.

Overall, I have already recommended this specific program with confidence to several of my teaching colleagues. Of all programs currently available I do not know of a stronger program than this one.

I did the Oxford TEFL course in Prague in August 2012 and I have nothing but praise to say about the course and the tutors. I felt like I improved a lot over such a short space of time, after every session of teaching practise we discussed the lessons, were given feedback and decided upon which aspects of teaching we personally needed to work on and improve for our next lesson; so every lesson was that bit better than the last. We taught two lessons a week of varying lengths and we taught two different levels over the course (I taught both pre-intermediate and intermediate students). We were able to be very creative with our lessons and create our own materials. We were also taught all the aspects of grammar, phonology and basic teaching theory that we would need. I would highly recommend this course to anyone thinking of doing TEFL.

I completed the TEFL certificate course in May-June of 2012 in Prague. In a word, the course was amazing. The teachers/trainers are absolutely unbelievable. They are some of the best instructors I have ever had because they know their stuff, give excellent and honest feedback, and encourage the students immensely. The practice both planning lessons and teaching actual students is invaluable. The course as a whole is difficult and, at first, a bit intimidating, but by the end I felt like I had accomplished something significant. Beyond that (and more importantly) the course prepared me to start working as a TESOL teacher. I am currently working as a teacher in Surabaya, Indonesia. Careers Advisor Sinéad Laffan worked tirelessly to help me find a job. The combination of her effort and the extensive Oxford TEFL alumni network is in large part the reason I am working as a TESOL teacher. The bottom line is that Oxford TEFL is an amazing program in an amazing city. If you want to get a job as teacher internationally, this is the right program.

I completed the one month intensive course last month in Barcelona after doing research about several different TEFL courses and don’t regret the decision I made! The course is as it says very intensive, so you do need to devote the whole month to the course and be prepared to spend time completing assignments and lesson planning outside college hours. The tutors were very approachable and supportive and their was a friendly working environment in the college. The input lessons and lesson planning sessions really equipped you to be able to plan your lessons and assignments and develop your skills as the course progressed. I was initially very apprehensive about the teaching sessions, but the tutors through their feedback were able to give you constructive advice regarding areas where you could improve which you couldthen use to build on each lesson. The students at the college were very enthusiastic and keen to learn English and by being given the opportunity to teach both Intermediate and Advanced students it helped to gain a broader experience in working along with students that have different abilities. I found that I learnt so much through doing this course -not only about teaching but English Grammar itself! Although it was hard work, I really enjoyed my month at Oxford House and would definitely recommend this course to anyone that is considering completing a TESOL course!!

I was at a real loss when it come to trying to decide which TEFL program to sign up for. I called and gathered info on seemingly all of the ones in the Prague area. In the end, OxfordTEFL was the clear winner. Not because it shares a name with the legendary English University but because it was the only TEFL school backed up by a Trinity certificate. When you think about what you’re getting, it really is worth the money. Thanks to OxfordTEFL, I have taught now in Morocco and in Ukraine and, in the case of the former, was hired purely on my having an TEFL certificate from Oxford TEFL. In addition, the staff of instructors you’ll encounter, from David to Sinead on down, are just extraordinary! I miss them but thanks to my OxfordTEFL cert, will always have something fond to remember them by.

Thanks guys!

I did the course in Prague in November 2011 and I have to say it was pretty intensive! Having said that the tutors were really supportive throughout the course and very through in giving feedback on teaching practice. They all had very different approaches to teaching but were/are clearly very experienced. I also had a great deal of support in looking for work – and managed to get full-time work very quickly.

I definitely recommend Oxford TEFL to anyone seriously interested in pursuing a TEFL career.

I attended the Barcelona location in the fall of 2006. I went into the program holding a degree in elementary education with a specialization in teaching learners of English. Yet the things I learned in that single month have proven to be more useful than the 5 yrs of university schooling I went through before that. The course was thorough and went through so many aspects of teaching English. The practice teaching was well-supervised, with excellent feedback from supervisors and fellow learners. I still hear myself repeating back some of that feedback now, 5 years later, as I plan my lessons.

One unanticipated benefit of going through this program is the friendships. I connected with so many amazing teachers and future teachers during my month at Oxford TEFL. Through that network, I’ve not only established lifelong friends all over the world, but I’ve been able to keep getting fresh ideas and even connections to new jobs. One of my Oxford TEFL friends is the one who led me to my current job in South Korea, teaching at his former school.

If you choose the Barcelona location, you won’t be disappointed. Barcelona is the perfect place for a TEFL course – access to diverse English-language learners from all over the world and a fascinating city to explore during free times.

I attended the course in Prague in 2010 and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done.
The course was actually what you can say “intensive”. We worked pretty hard, it was very challenging both for native and non-native speakers (as I am), but the experience was worth the effort, both from the human and the professional point of view.
The staff was really professional, but also very friendly. The feedback our tutors gave us proved out to be the most useful part of the whole course, and they were ready to bend over backwards to help us in all occasions. Tutors and mates’ support was the best solution to all the problems we experienced during the TEFL course. Lessons, and overall supervised teaching practice, gave us a more thorough awareness of what a teacher was supposed to be and to do. Getting our hands dirty by teaching real students was intimidating at the beginning, but it soon became very rewarding.
Prague is simply amazing, and having a bunch of nice places to go to, it allowed us to go out pretty often and to have fun grabbing a pint of beer, even together with our teachers.

It was such an awesome experience, I’d go back there right now!:)

OxfordTEFL is a great place to do the CertTESOL course. I did it in 2010 and it’s probably one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life!

At that time, I already had experience teaching English, but I was surprised by the content of the course because it was so thorough and helped me develop even more as an English teacher. Everyone in the staff is very approachable, supportive and friendly.

Also, it was a place where I was able to meet a lot of people from the TEFL community. Since they also offer language courses, I was able to talk to some teachers about what their experience was like in the TEFL world in Spain. Their Careers Advisor helped me find a job (even as a non-EU member) and I’m still in Barcelona thanks to them!!! =)

Oxford Tefl was such a great course, I would highly recommend it! It was very challenging, yet very fun at the same time. Going in to the course having never taught was a bit intimidating but by the time it was over I felt confident to go out teach! Great school, great people!

Two great things you will learn at Oxford TEFL: (1) Tons of knowledge and insight into the grammar and phonology of the English language and (2) what it’s like to interact with real students on a daily basis. The course is intense, but you will learn a lot. And you will learn practical knowledge. You will not just learn the theories, but you will practice them regularly and in front of your students. The teachers will support you every step of the way, but they will not do your work for you. So if you want to get your hands dirty and jump right into your teaching, all while exploring the beautiful streets of Prague, come here.

I decided upon Oxford TEFL after thoroughly researching all the different course providers out there, in my view Oxford TEFL stood apart from the rest. I knew that I would be gaining a certificate which carried significant kudos in the world of EFL teaching, which would prove the most beneficial when applying for jobs. This has definitely shown itself to be true; I am now in the midst of job applications and all but a few employers demand a Trinity Cert. TESOL or that of equivalent stature. Gaining a professional well-recognised certificate aside, the course itself did not disappoint from start to finish. The benefits of teaching ‘real-life’ students and receiving constructive feedback with tips and pointers from experienced, knowledgeable trainers cannot be overestimated. The trainers at Oxford TEFL were always on hand to offer advice and iron out any queries or confusions; this degree of support is something which I feel really helped to make an intense course that much more manageable. Completing the course through Oxford TEFL also had the fringe benefit of spending one long month in a fabulously funky city (Prague). Our daily walk to school took us past some of the many famous, spectacular sites that Prague has to offer. If you want a professional well-organised course that will get you on the rung of the TEFL ladder, then I would recommend, without hesitation, Oxford TEFL!!

The Oxford TEFL program in Prague offered me an excellent opportunity to both learn and practice the intricacies of teaching English and prepared me for the teaching position I was offered almost immediately after graduating from the course. The indispensable feedback from tutors after each teaching practice session allowed me to develop an understanding of the requirements of the classroom, leading me to achieve a consistent teaching quality that can be used in any classroom situation. Guided by extremely proficient instructors, difficult aspects of language learning were made clear and practical, and the resources available to the trainees permitted creative and productive explorations of lesson planning. An excellent course that provides a solid foundation for the teaching of English in the future!
