Having taken time to search for the best TEFL course, I decided to choose TEFL Scotland. It is an accredited course with the SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) and ODLQC (Online Distance Learning Quality Control) therefore should be accepted and recognised as being a more professional course. The Course was very interesting and the Tutor Simon was very competent and helpful. There was teaching practice (2 turns over the weekend per student – groups of 2 and then groups of 3) and the opportunity to observe others teaching. If you are not comfortable standing up and teaching and organising a lesson plan then I would suggest doing one of the longer courses for more experience and confidence. There is lots of the English Language to be understood, so if you find it all very difficult then the longer course or further modules can be chosen, but a bit of hard work and revision using the material suggested if you are self motivated would cover the areas necessary to give you the full understanding to be a good English Language Teacher. Resources were slightly limited over the weekend, but it gave a realistic approach to teaching abroad as if you did have limited resources, but it is amazing what you can use and create as lesson lead ins! It has given me a greater knowledge of the English Language and inspired me to go and teach abroad.

I signed up to this course to compliment my teaching qualification, and it was what I expected.

The course content can be frustrating at times, perhaps it could have been better set out, however, that is just my opinion. As mentioned previously, this course is accredited by the SQA and ODLQC which makes it better (in terms of value of qualification) over some others. ILA funding is also available.

Any online course is worth little in value over a classroom course and I knew this before I started, however, I also found this to be one of the better (in terms of value).
