I was very pleased with this TEFL Certification course. The first thing I noticed was that the staff was very responsive and helpful. When I wanted to contact some references for this course, they provided contacts almost immediately. Other companies took days, if not weeks. They continued to respond to all my questions in a timely manner as I began the enrollment process. I also thought the materials they gave me were invaluable; I felt like I got a real bang for my buck. And out of all the TEFL courses given in Mexico City that I researched, this course was easily the most economical (without being a complete sham, of course).
The course was two weeks, but very thorough. This was great for me as I wanted to jump into the job market as soon as possible. I was lucky to be the only one in the course this round; I got a ton of one-on-one time and personal advice. I was told that other times the class might have 3 to 5 students. I felt like all my concerns were addressed and I left the course feeling confident and informed. Not to mention the fact that I had 5 different job opportunities before I even finished the class. This company has great contacts all over Mexico City. I was also introduced to a nice network of other English teachers, which is comforting for a person new to the city. I didn’t need housing accommodations, but the staff informed me that they could help me in the future if I had trouble in the future looking for a place.
As for the material covered, I thought we had a nice balance of teaching theory, grammar work, and practice. My teacher instructed me how the different aspects of English (pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary) should be developed in my curriculum and how the different language skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking could be improved through class activities. We also came up with many class ideas for different levels of English students. Additionally, I was able to observe a few classes taught at the language facility we were working in. Although most of the classes I observed were helpful, I sometimes wished they were a bit bigger; the classes I observed had one to five students. Even still, I was glad to have the opportunity to practice teach these classes a number of times with feedback from my teacher and those classes’ regular teacher. This was maybe the best aspect of the course as it gave me the experience to feel confident in entering the job market.
Overall, I’m very happy to have found this course. It was cheap, fast, and incredibly helpful. I left this course feeling like I made some new friends too.

I only just recently finished this course and would recommmend it. For the first week I was on my own and as Ann said I got heaps of one on one time, which was great. At the end of the first week I was offered some temp work so I took it and then returned to finish my second week in accordance with the course that was being run after. The teacher had no problem in me doing that as the temp work was valuable teaching experience for me.
The second week I was with one other person and as there were two of us the teacher decided we should do the class project, (We had decided not to do one when there was just me but when there were two of us it was decided that we will do the project). This I feel actually took away from the course as I spent most of my time during the second week doing the project and not everything else concerned with the course.
But having said that I still feel that this was a very worthwhile course. I made job contacts, meet some really nice people and my course instructor was very helpful with all my questions I had.
Overall very recommended

I was very pleased with the Teachers Latin America course in Mexico City. I was a bit nervous coming to a different country not knowing what to expect, but all doubts were soon laid to rest. The instructor was very personable and down to earth. He met me at the hostel (which was very nice w/great staff) and gave me a thorough orientation including the best way to get to class. In this time he was able to answer any questions I had about the course or Mexico City in general. The course was short but very thorough. The instructor was incredibly knowledgable and kept a good pace throughout the two weeks. We got ample teaching practice and lots of great teaching resources. The feedback was very honest and constructive. by the beginning of the second week we had two job offers on the table. I have been teaching now in one of those positions for a month, and though teaching is still a challenge, without that course I would have been entirely lost. Even after the course was complete, the instructor encourages us to call or email with any questions or if we need anything at all. I was very impressed! I would certainly recommend this course to anyone wanting to teach in latin america.

This course exceeded my expectations. It was a healthy mix of English language analysis, teaching observation, and in-class teaching practice that has prepared me for teaching business English in Mexico City.
The instructor of this two-week course was patient, outgoing, supportive, and experienced (he’s been teaching English for over a decade and has taught this course dozens of times). During class, instead of lecturing, he guided conversation as we picked apart the different aspects of the language and how best to present them to students. The discussion-based format of the class meant that our classes were highly personalized to our skills, interests, and backgrounds. It also meant that we could delve deeper into challenging questions and thorny concepts that arose while breezing over things we already knew or understood. For me, the individualized attention that came from a high student to teacher ratio (there was only two of us in my session) definitely helped me.
Make no mistake: this is an intense course, often 8 hours a day. Four hours of class discussion and another four-ish hours of observing real classes (the first week) and teaching real classes (the second week). For me, the most practical part of this course was teaching a real ESL class plus the accompanying feedback. Though challenging, this practice gave me space to practice some of what we had been learning in class. I credit this with improving my general teaching skills and providing me with some ESL-specific techniques that I’m using today.
Like Eli above, I too would have been completely lost if it weren’t for this course. It was helpful in helping me to organize my thoughts about English and improve my teaching style. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this course to anybody thinking about TEFL in Mexico.

Like the reviewers above, I would highly recommend this course, especially if you are trying to organise your trip from another country, before arriving in Mexico City. The pre-course contact and information, payment etc was very professional and prompt.
In addition, upon arrival, the course instructor was very helpful and knowledgeable regarding aspects of Mexican culture, the city, where to eat, accomodation, transport etc.
Content-wise, the course was very thorough. It was a lot of work in two weeks, with plenty of reading, project work and theory. But I would have been disappointed if it hadn’t been hard work, having paid the money, and having expected to come out of it confident that I could teach a class.
I found the thoery to be well balanced with class observation and teaching practice. The course was well structured and the accumulation of knowledge and practice allowed me to feel that I had what I needed by the end of it.
The resources, in particular some of the digital/online content, was excellent and I’m sure I’ll continue to use some of it as a reference when teaching.
Post-course (I’ve only finished in the last week), I have been given numerous contacts regarding work, and am receiving ongoing contact and assistance from the instructor.
Overall a highly positive experience.
