Saint George International (SGI) has been running high quality, good-value teacher training courses in London since the summer of 1993. The beginning of this year saw us proudly chalk up our two thousandth newly-qualified English language teacher who successfully completed one of our highly-regarded and globally-recognised Trinity College London validated Cert TESOL courses. This is an excellent qualification providing very solid and thorough training for those with little or no prior teaching experience and who wish to teach English either overseas or in the UK.

It is a very well run course with some great trainers but not particularly inspired by the TRINITY course content.
Too much work was done on student profile and on one to one lessons when that should be about 5% of the course since most people want this for classroom teaching than giving individual lessons. Yet, in terms of workload the student profile was probably about 50%.
Practice teaching was good in terms of the structure on how to deliver a lesson. But in terms of the overall lesson, there were nothing on classroom management skills which the students had to pick up themselves.
Quality of feedback was great and probably the best thing on the course.
Lesson plan guidance was only done for the first two lessons and although the trainers were opened to talk to you about lessons plans, they were usually too busy to talk you through them properly. This was done during feedback instead.
Most of the instructors were exceptional. However, one of the instructor was poor and that was a real let down considering the intensity of the course.
There weren’t anything on job placements which I had hoped to find and the facilities were not great with 15 students sharing two computers that kept crashing. The place is very small place with tiny rooms. Should have gone for a visit before I took the course.

Just had a horrendous time on this course. They took on what seemed to be an extra group and we were stuffed into a tiny room with no desks. We could not access the computer room to work outside of lesson time because they used this room for lessons.
I was ill and missed some lectures which resulted in them refusing to mark my outstanding assignments and would not let me sit a test. I paid for the course and they did not offer what I had paid for by refusing to mark my assignments. I had passed everything up to that date. They then told me I had to do the whole course again even the parts I had passed and pay the full fee again sounds very convenient to me.
I’m complaining to Trinity and would urge anyone else with a bad experience to do the same don’t let them get away with it.

SGI prepared me well before starting the course, so I knew exactly what to expect and there were no surprises during the well co-ordinated course. It did require a lot of time commitment, but the four weeks passed in a very enjoyable flash of learning, comprehension and presentation. I think the best part was probably teaching a group of genuine students on the first afternoon. This represented a microcosm of the course as a whole: learn something, put it into practice, and observe others doing the same.
The whole course ran like a well-oiled machine, with mentors and coaches providing positive support and enthusiasm in copious doses. The other trainees were all really interesting and there was a great spirit of helping each other through the course. The best thing about the course is, without doubt, the professionalism of the SGI team.

I found the theory really interesting and I was taught how to plan and give successful lessons for a wide range of levels of ability. The actual teaching practice was the most challenging part, but the tutors were really supportive and I grew in confidence as a speaker. It was overall a very good, supportive place to study and work, and a pleasure, while there, to be surrounded by people who are very good at what they do.
