OnTesol Review by Susan Nielsen, April 30, 2009

This course, the full course with the three modules, was simply fantastic! Being my first on-line learning experience, I really wasn’t sure what to expect. But with seven years of teaching experience, I had never expected anything so interesting, challenging, and enlightening. Practice oriented tasks and assignments filled with helpful tips and super feedback made the work inspiring. I am definitely a better teacher now. Ontesol offers a first-rate course that I can confidently recommend to anyone looking for further qualifications in the ESL field or simply wanting to solidify their proficiency in teaching.

OnTesol Review by Richard UK, August 9, 2009

I was impressed with the organization of the course, both the admin office and my
tutor were quick to respond to any queries i had. With regards to my tutor I thought that the support she gave me throughout the course was excellent and the comments she offered when marking my assignments were insightful and helpful. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a reputable online TEFL course

OnTesol Review by Wayne Letcher, August 10, 2009

I have to say I truly enjoyed the readings, the task and assignments.
Before starting this course I was somewhat arrogant in my attitude, having
taught English in Korea for six years already. I was unsure of how much I
would benefit from the material. Not only was the course interesting, but
it quickly uncovered some misconceptions I had had regarding English
grammar and it refined my teaching techniques. I now have more confidence
and feel that I can do a more worthy job in my classes. This course also
despelled the doubts I had regarding online courses, which I used to think
may not be worthy

I took the 250-hour course and I was very pleased with the course content, organization, administration, and tutoring. ONTESOL delivered on its promises. Administration responded promptly and professionally. Being in Foreign Language teaching for almost 20 years, I was impressed with the course content. It was both concise and comprehensive. I particularly appreciated the grammar and phonology sections and references. Regarding my tutor, I was very impressed by his professional competence and linguistic ability. He is a most talented writer! I bombarded him with questions of minutia and forwarded assignments in bursts. He seemed to take it all in stride. He made me feel at ease and guided me well through my challenges. Perhaps most importantly, my tutor managed to bridge the virtual gap to become a real person rather than a black and white email response to my queries. I’m not sure how he did this, but I am thankful and commend him for his skill in this regard.

Ontesol’s course was perfect for me because I could work on the assignments when
and where I wanted. In addition, I really appreciated the guidance and
advice my tutor gave me for the assignments, tasks and exams I handed in.
The comments left on my every assignment and exam have been very detailed
and helpful!

This course was amazing! I could have just gone to South Korea with my Bachelor of
Arts degree to teach but to be honest I am really glad that I took the 100-hour course
before applying to go. This course is extremely informative and will give you a
great deal of knowledge on teaching English. A lot of great resources are brought to
your attention and a lot of great teaching methods are shown to prepare you to teach
and to be successful at your teaching. I highly recommend this course to anyone
interested.

I took the 100-hour Ontesol course in order to learn and to get a formal qualification for my C.V.
Language schools here in Istanbul are familiar with the Ontesol course and regard it as a good one. I found the course better than I expected. The course materials are excellent. The tutor whom I had, Claudia, was expert in both English and in teaching English. She was always there to help with any questions and corrected assignments giving lots of explanation about what was good and what was not-so-good. You can also re-do the assignment after this input and increase your score. Taking the course on-line gives you great flexibility. You can work on it whenever you want, even wherever you want. There is plenty of time to finish the course. I am a very happy customer.

I absolutely love the 100 hour - TEFL course. I have used these methods in my lesson plans and I have received some good feedback from my colleagues. I was nominated to talk about my creative, effective lesson plans in a training session :)

I do recommend it to anyone who is willing to take his/her professional career a couple of steps up.

Good Luck everyone and thank you ONTESOL

I chose Ontesol.com based on positive reviews from past students. I am happy to say that I am very pleased with my decision. Despite having experience teaching, I still learned new things from the 100 hour certificate course. I particularly enjoyed the Phonology module. My emails to both my tutor and Ontesol.com were always promptly responded to, and my tutor was very encouraging and informative. Needless to say, I greatly enjoyed my experience and I am now considering upgrading to the 250 hour course.

I took some online courses for accounting at university and professors didn’t provide half the support that my tutor provided at Ontesol. He answered my questions on time and challenged me with excellent feedback on each and every assignment. The course was intensive but I feel I’ve become a much more dynamic teacher than I used to be. I feel more comfortable in front of my students and they seem to enjoy my classes a whole lot more.

I want to say that what I had to pay for this course was, for what I received in return, a great bargain! The modules were full of useful and concise information, and the assignments and the consistent commitment from the tutor to provide support and thorough evaluation were all very valuable. I was pleasantly surprised, and am appreciative.
I will definitely need to use the information and advice I received from the modules and the tutor, for my future career in teaching esl. Thank you Claudia for your commitment, and hope you all keep it up.

I began the course after a year’s experience teaching English in Japan. My co-workers thought it was an odd decision to invest time and money in getting a teaching certificate after already having a job (and a very good one, I must say) but I always enjoy studying and I thought that getting proper teaching training can’t hurt my self-confidence nor my resume. And so I decided to go for it.

I chose this course over hundreds of other accredited online courses since its syllabus, its length and its price were what I was looking for, and since I had a good feeling about it when I read through the website. I hoped it was a good choice.

Now that I’ve completed the course, I can say it for sure - it was an excellent choice! I’m so glad I took this course. It was interesting, enjoyable and challenging, and I’ve learned so much from each and every one of its parts. Since I’ve been teaching at the same time I could actually see my improvement right away and it felt amazing to use in my lessons all I’ve been taught in the course. As I hoped, both my teaching skills and my confidence as a teacher have improved significantly.

I was very happy with the way the course is organized and with its content. As for the tutor, Claudia, I couldn’t ask for a better guidance as she was always there, sharing ideas and giving advice in her special super-professional, yet personal, way. I can’t thank her enough for that.

Bottom line: if you’re looking for a good, professional, interesting, reasonably-priced accredited online TESOL course – you’ve found it.

I first took the 100-hour course with TEYL and was amazed at how much I learned. My tutor answered my questions in less than 24 hours and made excellent comments on my assignments. I had just graduated from university and didn’t expect that an online teacher training course would be so dynamic. I’ve been teaching in Costa Rica for 9 months while I continued with the 250-hour course and just got a job offer from Australia!! :). From my experience, I believe that it’s necessary to take a TESOL course before getting a job and I have recommended Ontesol to my co-workers and will continue to do so because they provided me with an excellent education as well as they’ve been very professional in counseling me about different teaching destinations.

OnTesol is a wonderful educational program for both those seeking ESL jobs and those who simply want education in English grammar, phonology, and teaching methods. Through this program I received a certificate that will benefit me for future teaching opportunities abroad. There are so many things that are beneficial about this program, including revision of English grammar, phonology, numerous methods by which to teach English and providing me with information about ESL job opportunities after completion of the course. There is so much I have learned through this program and so many opportunities it will provide me. I am so thankful to the tutors OnTesol has on hand, providing good ideas for lesson planning, providing constructive criticism and honest feedback that helped me understand and complete the course in a comfortable manner. The course time was perfect as it gave me enough time to complete all the required tasks without rushing
and rather learning and working at my own pace. It was a great experience.

Thank you OnTesol staff!

I wished I took the 250-hour program before starting my teaching career in Korea back in 2007 as there is an enormous difference between this program and the introductory course I took at another institution.
-My tutor, Kathleen, was very experience. She guided me through the program at every step and provided excellent feedback to every assignment.
-The course was very interactive, with tasks that included video class observations and intensive assignments that prepared me to create real lesson plans.
-The staff was excellent and helped me set up my practicum in Korea without any extra cost so I could return to Canada and start teaching right away.
I highly recommend Ontesol to anyone who is interested in becoming a professional ESL teacher!

I needed to take an online course to study part-time while I finished my degree and Ontesol exceeded my expectations. I thought a TESOL course was going to be easy but I’m glad the assignments were intensive and my tutor challenged me to become a better teacher with her suggestions to improve my lesson plans.
Their job placement service was good enough for me. Although they did not directly help me to find a job, I got several job offers from Japan in less than 3 weeks with the list of schools they provided.

The 100-hour online course has been just right in my case, as I’m working full-time, and wanted a taster of the techniques and theories of TEFL. It has been quite demanding in terms of lesson plans, which are new to me, but the tutor support on that has been great.

I am a French teacher and have the opportunity of teaching ESL at the International school where I work but felt I needed a bit more training in English in spite of the fact that I have been teaching for many years.
I enrolled in the 100 hour Ontesol course and have found it very interesting and stimulating. This was my first on/line course. The course material to be down loaded was interesting, with plenty of new, fresh ideas and the tutor I worked with was fast with her feedback and gave me plenty of suggestions to think about.
The course material was well put together and every chapter has practice questions which are usefull.
All in all, a good experience and I found it a great advantage being able to time my work and do the assignments whenever it was convenient to me, so even with a full time job, the course was manageable.

Ontesol’s 250-hour course was excellent! My tutor was very professional and the content was highly interactive, with videos for class observation and very thought provoking assignments. The staff also gave me a lot of information about teaching in different countries and resources that helped me land a well-paid job in Spain.

OnTesol Review by Maddy Williams, June 28, 2010

I was very surprised at how much I learnt with the 100-hour course. I was looking for a brief introduction to TEFL and Ontesol challenged me more than a third year university course. As a native speaker, I though I knew everything about grammar but this course helped to prepare lessons in an interesting way. I couldn’t ask for more for only $275.

OnTesol Review by Rudolf Kurz, July 5, 2010

I took the 250 hour online course and was very happy with the content and the feedback. I have no prior experience teaching English, but I am sure this course has helped me on my way to become a good teacher.

This was the first time I have taken an online course and the convenience of being able to learn in my own house and at my own pace was great! The only drawback was the lack of personal contact.

I enjoyed the practicum very much. Staff went out of their way to organize this for me and give me guidance.

I recommend this course to anyone interested in teaching English as a second language.

OnTesol Review by Thuy Marchal, July 10, 2010

I had a great experience with Ontesol from the moment of initial contact with them to completion of my courses. Registration was quick and I was able to start my 100 hour TESOL immediately. My tutor was very friendly, responsive and encouraging. Whatever questions I had, she provided me with thorough answers and additional links for further reading and study. It was to my benefit to have had a tutor with so many years of teaching experience who could guide me through the course.

I would highly recommend Ontesol to anyone who is considering taking an online TESOL course. The staff are professional, the tutor is excellent in her knowledge of course material and the course itself offers great ideas for use in the classroom. I look forward to using what I’ve learned with Ontesol in the classrooms in Shanghai where I plan to teach.

I was teaching English without certification until a colleague recommended Ontesol. My lessons improved from the very first day I started the methodology module. I stopped my dependency on old textbooks when I learnt to prepare activities and use different tools to present a topic. My students enjoy my classes a lot more and I feel much better about myself.

OnTesol Review by Danielle Barker, August 10, 2010

The 100-hour course is perfect for anyone taking the first step into teaching. There is a lot more feedback than I expected from an online course. My tutor answered quickly to my inquiries and she made excellent suggestions to improve my lesson plans. The grammar module came in very handy for someone who hasn’t studied grammar since high school. I highly recommend Ontesol!!!

OnTesol Review by Teresa Canoza, August 18, 2010

The online 100-Hour TESOL was an outstanding course to start my teaching career. I taught English in Chile for 9 months and had an amazing time. The school offers a lot of information prior to enrollment, free teaching resources, and discounts on the more intensive courses if I ever want to upgrade my certificate.

OnTesol Review by Laura W, August 24, 2010

I’ve had a first-rate experience with ONTESOL. I took the 100-hour course,
and felt that all of the course content was entirely relevant, particularly
for someone completely new to teaching English. As for me, the Methodology
module, which provided practice in developing lesson plans, was the most
challenging and informative part of the course.

What really impressed me the most however was my tutor, Ainsley. I’ve
completed a lot of classroom as well as a couple online courses in the past,
but the feedback and support that she provided was unparalleled. Not only
were my assignments graded in record time, but I also received what was
perhaps the most detailed and useful comments on my work, ever! I have
absolutely no regrets bout choosing ONTESOL and I would highly recommend the
100-hour course to anyone who’s hoping to head into the TESOL/TEFL world.

OnTesol Review by TC, August 30, 2010

I was completely satisfied with the 250 hour course. I already had many years experience teaching ESL and was interested in updating my qualifications, but needed to find a TESL Canada approved course that fit my full-time teaching schedule. Being online, ONTESOL.COM allowed me to work at my own pace, and the content was an excellent mix of well-organized, clear lessons and personal support from a tutor who checked the homework and tests. I learned new ways of teaching subjects I´d been teaching for years. I would recommend the course to anyone.

OnTesol Review by Josh Irvin, September 8, 2010

My experience at Ontesol was fantastic and the 100 hours course was also very affordable for all the value I got. The office replied to my inquiries in a few hours and their excellent service did not stop when I enrolled. My tutor was very helpful and the coursework pushed me to be a creative teacher. I’m giving Ontesol 5 stars for all categories except job placement, which is still ok because I was directed to an agency that helped me line up a good job in Japan free of charge.

OnTesol Review by Elizabeth Doherty, September 17, 2010

I have really enjoyed the whole ONTESOL experience. I spent a long time researching different online courses and the ONTESOL course was the most comprehensive. I had no prior teaching experience and felt that this was a good way to get an insight into what TESL is all about without having to commit myself to perhaps a year or more of formal teacher training. I feel that the course has a balanced approach to different teaching techniques and the Grammar and Phonology modules are well thought out and detailed.

My tutor, Carl, was incredibly dedicated and responded quickly to my many questions, even when I interrupted his weekends. His answers were always concise and instructive as well encouraging and I really feel that I have learnt a lot, both from the course and from Carl’s comments and guidance. For anyone new to teaching who can’t afford to have a sudden career change by going back to college full-time, I think this course will be entirely suitable, especially as it provides the practicum option which will provide the full “teaching experience”. I can’t wait to put it all into practice.

OnTesol Review by I. Atiev, September 22, 2010

The 100-hour course at Ontesol opened many doors and prepared me for a very challenging job in China. After talking with my co-workers who had poor or no prior qualification at all, I started to value Ontesol even more because teaching a class of 63 Chinese teenagers can be overwhelming if you are not prepared. I highly recommend Ontesol to those who are starting their teaching career and are looking for a reputable online course. I’m a happy and returning client. Now that I’m back in Canada, I will upgrade to Trinity TESOL with their partner school.

OnTesol Review by Aubrey Hux, September 23, 2010

This was my first experience with an online course of any type. The quality of instruction, course content, and instructor assistance was excellent!!!!! I had some difficulties completing the last 2 Lesson Plans on time due to the political unrest here in Thailand that interrupted Internet access but after talking this over with Claudia, my instructor, I was allowed some extra time to complete these assignments. Thanks for your help, Claudia!!! The Methodology Module was the most challenging Module but, after completing it, my level of performance was greatly improved. My transition from HVAC Engineer/Accountant to English Teacher has been made much easier because of this course. The only drawback is the reality of actually teaching in a foreign country and the culture shock that I have experienced.Unfortunately, this is something that cannot be taught online, or for that fact, it cannot be taught anywhere or in any setting. This is part of the learning curve we all experience teaching in another culture. ONTESOL is a very professional organization and comes highly recommended. Keep up the great work ONTESOL!!!

Ontesol is a great college to start your ESL career. I’m very satisfied with the level of training and the tutor that was provided to me. Apart from the marking, Mike provided me with great comments and a lot of advice for improving my teaching. The lesson plan assignments were spot on. I recommend Ontesol’s 100-hour course to everybody. It’s worth much more than the $275 tuition fee I paid for this course. I certainly got my money worth considering that a CELTA program is 10 times more expensive.

OnTesol Review by Ann, October 8, 2010

My name is Ann and I have already completed my Masters of Teaching, however I was looking to do a supportive online course to qualify to teach English as a Second Language. The 100- hour online TESOL program helped me improve my language skills - through very practical assignments. My online tutor was very supportive and gave me extensive feedback in order to improve my teaching methods. I would recommend the course to any one who is looking to teach English as a Second Language in the future.

OnTesol Review by Gabriel Mezzetti, October 16, 2010

I took the 100-hour TESOL and upgraded to the 250-hour course a year later and I can testify that Ontesol is top of the line. From introductory to advanced, Ontesol is the best TESOL course provider in the world. A 20-hour Practicum is also available to those who need supervised teaching experience. Their job placement service and information service is very helpful. My certificate has been welcomed with open arms in Korea, Thailand, and Canada.

OnTesol Review by Shane Kotlyar, November 3, 2010

I did not expect so much assistance in the program. There were many times where an understanding of the tasks and assignments were not always clear to me; however, my Ontesol tutor was gracious and helpful when she pointed out, corrected and gave thorough details to what the expectation was. Furthermore, she always encouraged me and reminded me that I was on the right track. Although I had only been in contact with my tutor through email correspondence, I felt a genuine student-teacher relationship throughout the several months I have been working on my ESL certification. The tasks and assignments were certainly challenging, but I was never doubtful of my ability to complete them due to the wealth of information provided by Ontesol.

I feel much more assured and confident in my ability to be an ESL teacher no matter where I go thanks to what I learned from the Ontesol program. I whole-heartedly recommend this program to anyone who feels like choosing a career with limitless avenues and directions to go.

OnTesol Review by Recent Student, November 23, 2010

If you don’t already have teaching experience, this is a not the way to learn how to teach esl. The written materials are not great, although the instructor I had was friendly and proficient. Response time to assignments was not what they advertised. You can pass with high marks (as I did) and be pretty certain you are unprepared to teach esl. I have a background in teaching English and writing to native speakers at the University level, so I feel vaguely confident I can find my way. But without my extensive background in teaching this would have been a waste of time.

OnTesol Review by Michael Mayer, December 6, 2010

I’m very pleased with my experience at Coventry House International and Ontesol. I couldn’t take the full-time Trinity course because of work so I went for the online/practicum option. It took me just under 4 months to complete all 250 hours of online study plus the 20-hour practicum. I found the grammar and phonology modules to be great resources. The most important part was methodology, where there are about 20 lesson plan assignments and many more short tasks with video observations. I studied the online modules at my own pace and I took my time to ask as many questions as were necessary. I always felt that my tutor was there for me because she took her time to reply with very inspiring comments that helped me improve my lesson planning. Their job placement service is alright. They only help to apply directly to schools for South Korea and you get a list of schools and recruiters for other countries.

OnTesol Review by Dada Dosen, December 12, 2010

I completed my TEFL course at Ontesol (100 hours) and I highly recommend it. This course fit perfect to my schedule and budget. Teaching experience is very important but I did not have the funds to take an expensive in-class course or teaching practice module, so I volunteered at a community center. This way I learned to prepare strong lesson plans online and then got some teaching experience for free. I received excellent feedback from my students and the manager of the center because of my interactive lessons. Thank you Ontesol! I’m ready to teach abroad now!

OnTesol Review by Student, December 27, 2010

I recently withdrew from the Ontesol’s 100 hour course when I realized I wasn’t learning anything from it that I couldn’t find online or in a basic ESL textbook. During the time I was taking the course, there were some issues when the staff upgraded the web site, and I was unable to access my account for weeks. When this was happening my tutor sent me the necessary documents by e-mail, but I must admit it affected my opinion of the course. Also, while my tutor and the other Ontesol staff were polite enough, when I asked questions I always felt they were giving me the shortest answers possible; their customer service was not the best. I guess this course is a good choice if you need the certification they offer, but if you’re just looking to learn about teaching ESL, you can find the same information online or in books, and save yourself a couple hundred dollars.

OnTesol Review by Kevin Davies, December 31, 2010

Simply put, this is a fantastic course.

I’ve been traveling abroad for some time now, and I was recomended to this program by a fellow Canadian traveler. Now, I’m sure you’ve noticed that there is a huge selection of different TESOL/ TEFL courses available online. The choice can be daunting, and honestly, not all courses are built alike. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect because i have never done anything like this before but, this course was great! I started out just asking a few questions about it, and they really bolster the experience! My online tutor was detailed, very supportive, and a really great guy! He answered all the questions i might have had, and worked with me on the different Modules for the course. There was no pressure to quickly finnish assignments. I felt as though i got to work at my own pace. I also learned not just about how to teach the language, but how individual people learn in different ways. And let me tell you that has already helped out a lot!

If you are debating at all, about which course to take, pick this one. I’m very happy I did.

OnTesol Review by Isaac, January 3, 2011

I want to thank everyone at Ontesol for being so honest and professional. When I called, the staff did not try to sell me the more expensive course, took the time to explain the differences between each course, and helped me find the one that fit my needs. Indeed, the 100-hour course provided me with a solid foundation for feeling confident in the classroom and the necessary qualifications for starting my career in Latin America.

Last, my tutor was very important to me because he helped me understand how to apply the Communicative Approach in a very creative manner. Thank you very much Ontesol! I will continue to recommend your school every chance I get!

OnTesol Review by Eva, January 6, 2011

Excellent program. My husband and I were looking for some change and we decided to try an online program before moving abroad. The course is affordable and covers a lot of material for Grammar, Phonology, and Methodology. The assignments are challenging and the interaction with the tutor made my learning experience much richer because the assignments are cumulative so the quality of feedback was essential for correcting my mistakes. I highly recommend Ontesol.

In 2010 I took 2 courses at Ontesol: a TESL course and a TEYL course. I found the courses interesting and logical, and I got a lot of help from my personal tutor, who had a lot of patience and experience as a teacher.
The company can provide useful information about staying abroad, recruiters etc.
To anyone who’s looking for a good TESL course, I would recommend Ontesol.

Before choosing Ontesol, I also read the reviews found on this website. I am so happy that I chose this particular program. My tutor would respond within 24 hours when ever I had a question; my tutor also provided extensive feedback, not just one-liners. I learned a lot and I feel more competent to teach abroad. I would also like to mention how great the Ontesol office is at getting back to you. I thought it might take 2-3 days to get a response, but it almost always occurred the same day!

The program is excellent, and it really provides you with stimulating and edifying material. I really appreciate that they provide several examples of what a communicative approach lesson plan looks like.

I completely recommend the 100-hour course!

OnTesol Review by Ms. Hart, January 27, 2011

My experience with Ontesol was a very positive one. The assignments were very challenging and thought provoking, my tutor showed her 19 years of teaching experience on every excellent comment she made, and the office replied quickly and thoroughly to my questions prior, during, and after the course. I highly recommend the 250-hour program to anyone looking for an online alternative to CELTA.

OnTesol Review by Rose Rus, February 5, 2011

I registered in the 100-hour course back in 2009. I was applying for a position in South Korea when my recruiter recommended taking a TEFL course in order to qualify for a higher pay level. Ontesol’s course was excellent and I was very well prepared when I stepped into my first lesson.

I had previously taught private lessons to Korean students so I thought that, as a native speaker with prior teaching experience, I knew it all. The grammar and phonology modules have a lot of valuable information that native speakers don’t usually know, but the most important module was methodology. The lesson planning assignments challenged me to become a very interactive teacher and my tutor provided excellent comments on how to properly use the communicative approach. He especially took the time to advise me how this method can be applied to Korean students as he taught in South Korea many years ago. Thanks to Ontesol and my tutor, I had a great experience in Korea. I will seriously consider upgrading to their 250-hour TESOL or Trinity program before I go on another TESOL odyssey!

I enjoyed the TESOL course greatly! I found the online course very comprehensive, informative and helpful in developing thorough teaching strategies and lesson plans. One thing to remember, keep an eye on your course deadline, the course has to be completed within 3 months! The grammar section helped me understand the student’s perspective of learning a foreign language and the phonology section informed me of how complex(messy) the English language can be to learn for foreign learners. The Methodology section is very informative and I completely support the communicative approach of lesson structures and planning. In the future I will always consider the philosophy of the communicative approach that I learned in this course.

Thank you, OnTesol! I am greatly appreciative of the program and the excellent personal attention I received throughout the duration of the course. The website was very easy to navigate and full of helpful information, answering all of my questions before I actually enrolled. Once enrolled, the course materials and schedule were made readily available. I found the work to be well paced and challenging, with review and testing perfectly instrumented. My personal tutor was informative and engaging, making me feel comfortable throughout the course. I highly recommend Ontesol and will tell all my other friends in the ESL business about the site.

Ontesol’s 250-hour TESOL program is a very advanced program that provides more than you can expect from. This course delivers a very advanced level of training through challenging assignments and excellent tutor feedback. I was very pleased with Onteesol and I would recommend prospective teachers to take this program first and foremost.

I truly enjoyed the online 100-hour course offered by OnTesol. Not only were the modules, assignments, tasks, and exams interesting and thought-provoking, but I feel that they have better prepared me for teaching English abroad. I never realized before how much I took for granted with respect to English, and I am glad that I took this course to better understand the English language. Moreover, my tutor (Junesse) was very helpful and taught me a lot through her detailed suggestions, comments, and answers to my questions. Overall, this course provided a lot of useful information, like a detailed revision of English grammar, phonology, and numerous methods by which to teach English. I especially liked that I was given the opportunity to come up with my own lesson plans, as I had never made a lesson plan before. I am confident that this experience, too, will aid me in teaching English abroad. If you’re planning on teaching English in another country, I would definitely recommend taking a course offered by OnTesol; you won’t regret it.

The course is great!
I spent weeks trying to find a good online course. I definitely made the right choice. All the staff is very professional and friendly. I was impressed with the administration office which responded promptly to all my questions. As for my tutor Claudia, she was very encouraging and graded my assignment in less than 24 hours.
As a non native English speaker I was quite nervous about taking the course, but all the modules are very easy to understand and very well structured.
I truly felt like I was preparing for my first day as a teacher from the very beginning of the course.
The last module which is lesson planning was very challenging, but it was also my favorite part of the course. I liked that it forced me to be creative and think outside the box.
I definitely learned a lot.
Do not hesitate to take the course. It is absolutely great!

A 5 stars experience! I chose the 100-hour program after I spent about a week researching among schools from Canada and America. The office responded quickly the first time and continued to answer all of my questions in a very short time and in a very professional manner at every turn. The grammar and phonology modules are excellent resources that will be useful for years to come and the methodology module gets to the heart of teaching, with a lot of theory and practice that helped me understand how to meet the needs of my students using interactive lesson plans. My tutor, Kathy, was also very important for my success and I am very thankful for her support.

OnTesol Review by Jeremy, April 22, 2011

Overall a pretty solid experience. It should be noted that I took both the 100-hour TESOL course, as well as the 60-hour TEYL course. Both Instructors for my classes had extensive backgrounds in ESL with 19+years of experience, and around 30 years of experience respectively.
Course content was pretty useful, and I will be referring back to it as I begin my career as a Teacher. The quality of feedback was also excellent. The Instructors especially took the time to critique the assigned sample lesson plans, and gave pointers on how to better organize a class.
One thing to note is that with online classes, Job Placement can be hard. They have a database, but I have found work privately. Also, keep in mind that nothing can be substituted for real-life practice, so be prepared to make some mistakes and learn from them.

Ontesol was the right fit for me because I could study whenever I had some free time. There is a lot more studying than I had anticipated. Having a tutor made a big difference for me because I never took an online course so I was a bit scared at first. He let me ask all the questions I had and answered quickly, professionally and with great accuracy.

Ontesol’s customer service was also very good. The staff knows a lot about the industry and kindly replies to any questions. I received a few offers before I finished the course and they replied to my questions with a lot information that helped me secure the best position. I highly recommend Ontesol. Cheers!

I had to get TESL Canada certified and Ontesol seemed right for me after considering accreditation, experience, flexibility, and price. The methodology module covers everything about teaching and does so in a very practical manner. The assignments were crucial to learn how to meet the objectives for every stage of a lesson. Thanks to these assignments and the support of my tutor, I learned how to present a topic, create activities, and use tools communicatively. There were a few other tasks that helped me reflect on different methods and the grammar and phonology courses were very important but I would say that the 20 assignments were the most valuable. Last, the practicum was very important to obtain the experience I was lacking and learn how to follow the steps I had planned with confidence. I would recommend Ontesol to everyone.

I recently completed the 100-hour course, and had a positive experience throughout the duration of my studies. The course content was laid out in a logical and useful manner and I can honestly say that I learned more from the course than I thought I would. My interaction with the tutor were highly professional, yet also warm and friendly, and all the feedback was much welcomed. I highly recommend ONTESOL to everyone.

After researching and reviewing TESOL courses locally, as well as online, I made the decision to take the 100 hour online TESOL program with Ontesol. I have to say that it was a great investment. The quality of material is high and quite relevant. My tutor was always available for questions and gave the most thorough, in depth, feedback for my assignments. Lesson planning, in the methodology chapter, is such a valuable tool for any teacher. I was really pleased with my experience and would highly recommend Ontesol.

I had a few years of teaching experience when I signed up, and I wasn’t expecting to learn a lot from a teaching course at that stage in my career, but the OnTesol program was such a pleasant surprise! The course material was interesting, complete with examples, and the assignments were practical but open-ended so I really got to try out what I had learned. My lessons have changed for the better since I took this course and I’d highly recommend it to any foreign language teacher.

The course has really been a very interesting and enlightening one. The teachers are very professional about their job. They are also very helpful and very experienced.

The 250 hour Diploma course is very good and internationally recognized. I have been getting a lot of offers since completing the course.

If you want an internationally recognized TESOL certificate enroll in Coventry International House. I did and I have never regretted it. I am just happy that I made that decision.

I strongly recommend this course to anybody that wants a TESOL from one of the best and recognized course providers in the world.

Ontesol was my first experience taking an on-line course. Along with your course I have learned a lot about the workings of my computer. Ainsley, my tutor has been friendly, supportive and very prompt throughout the program.
I liked the focus on the Communicative Approach, stressing the use of authentic material. If I were to learn a second language I would appreciate the lesson developing along these guidelines.

As a retired teacher I am surprised at how much I learned.
Thank you.

OnTesol’s 100-hour online TESOL program has really helped me in preparing for teaching English abroad. Before I started the program I had no clue as to how I should teach and what activities or methods were most effective for student learning. However, as I went through the program my questions and apprehensions were resolved and I began building confidence in my ability to teach. The support and feedback provided by my tutor Aaron was always quick, informative and provided me insight in the areas I was having trouble with. Overall, the program was great and I learned a lot from it!

The 100 hour online course was my first delve into the world of TESOL. The material is well presented and thorough. The tasks really get you thinking about the content. My tutor was helpful and prompt. Her insights were helpful and she coached me towards answers rather than just providing them. Overall, I feel like this was the right choice for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 100 hour course with OnTesol.com. It gave me the tools I need to go out there and be an effective teacher. My teacher Ainsley deserves special mention for being a patient, caring, experienced teacher who really knows her job. I would recommend(and have) ontesol to anyone interested in improving their teaching skills

OnTesol Review by Antoine Dubuc, July 30, 2011

Okay, so one thing you must know as you read reviews is that most people who review, like me, do it once. We do not have comparative data. We did not attend many schools to actually compare one to another. This is my only review since I won’t take the same course twice somewhere else.

That being said I recommend onTESOL.

Dedication: The time my teacher spent providing insights and helping me overall was greatly above expectations. My teacher answered me on the weekends. Do not expect this as a norm since it is not. But I mention it to show the dedication and time she took with me. Answers were quick to come and very detailed. If my teacher billed me hourly I would have received a bill far larger than what I paid for the course.

Value: If you do not have much experience or formal training to teach then believe me when I say that you need to take a course such as onTESOL. It will open your eyes. Show you what needs to be done, how to do it and generally prep you for this great journey that is teaching. The course is very well laid out, the communicative methodology well presented and overall you finish the course confident that you are equipped to become a good teacher.

Material: The material is top notch I would say. The teachers are above that. If an example showed you ‘abc’ then you could count on the teacher providing you with ‘abcde’ to complement it on request. This organization caters well to its customers. You are not left alone. Also, it is not that easy. I had to rewrite most assignment before I could get it right. Lesson Plans, the essential tool of any teacher, are taught to you well: and you’ll pass only if have mastered them. Today I can write good lesson plans and feel confident about being a good teacher. I can walk into a classroom and provide excellent value armed with state of the art lesson plans and methodologies.

Conclusion: onTESOL doesn’t give away its certificate. You have to really work at it to get one. They are valuable.Today I’m confident that I can be a great teacher. I have been taught the skills and method to be so. Ask yourself this: when you walk into a classroom for 90 minutes, what do you do specifically? Can you write it down in details? What are you actually going to teach and how?

onTESOL would have a hard time providing more value than they do. I highly recommend them if you want a teacher that cares and a certificate that actually means something. These guys are for real. The value is extraordinary. No doubts its not the only school that’s great but I would not try another one if I had to. Go for it!

I have just finished the the 250-hour online TESOL program and I found it to be extremely useful and interesting. My instructor was great with feedback and relaying information. The course itself was very useful and touched upon many things that I had questions on. I would recommend this course for anyone who is interested in teaching at adult schools either in their home country or aboard.

This was my first online/distance education experience. Being summer and working relatively full-time, I thought it would be very difficult to accomplish the entire course, but wanted to give it a shot anyways. The material was extremely engaging and kept me wanting to learn more. It was also challenging and I learned a great deal of new things that I had perhaps heard about, but never got the chance to learn about in greater detail (concerning grammar and phonology). Responses to assignments or even general inquires were all generally within 24 hours. Feedback on assignments were always detailed and really helped me improve. I would definitely recommend the 100-hour course, as I think I gained a great deal of knowledge from it that will be helpful in the future.

Everything about Ontesol was very good. I appreciate the time my tutor took to answer questions and add comments on the assignments. The material was extraordinary, with lots of information and challenging assignments. The job centre has about 100 posts and there is a list with tons of schools and resources. This is amazing for the $315 I paid for!

I completed the 100 hour course. I found the course material to be of a very high standard, providing the right amount of information without any overload. The assignments were interesting and thought provoking, and from the beginning of the course you are encouraged to think of the practicalities of teaching in a classroom situation. The lesson plan assignments really give you an insight into your role as a teacher and the tutor’s feedback makes for a great learning expierence by pointing out where there is potential to improve upon the student’s learning expierence. Very quick turnaround by the tutor in marking up the assignments, which was appreciated. Overall a highly enjoyable expierence which I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone interested in embarking on a TEFL teaching course. Thank you ONTESOL.

I took the 100 hour on-tesol course in order to obtain a qualification for my CV before travelling to South America. I was very impressed with both the course material and the tutor. He responded to all my emails with very helpful advice on my assignments and answered any other questions I had. Because the course is very flexible I was able to do the assignments on my own time and didn’t feel under pressure at any point. I would recommend this course to anyone considering doing an online TEFL course.

OnTesol Review by Andrew, December 13, 2011

I found this program incredibly informative, and useful. It provided a good overview of English grammar and phonetics, then backs it up with ideas how you can apply it to lesson plans. The final section, making a lesson plan, was definitely the most useful part of the program to me. It gave me tonnes of ideas on how I can teach English to a variety of different demographics, as well as provided me with a good sense of how to control the class.
The philosophy the program provided is new, and I think a very good one for both the teacher and the students. It makes sense to have the students learn how to actually use a language rather than learn it using a direct method. Furthermore, the methods shown in the lesson planning section show how to make the students more active, and, as a result, more interested in the subject at hand. I definitely like the methods that this course is promoting.
Finally, the tutor that I received was absolutely amazing. She has been doing ESL teaching for a long time, and it showed through her feedback, and advice. When I had a questions she was able to give an informative answer within a reasonable amount of time. Likewise, when it came to marking assignments she did so very efficiently, and left a lot of useful feedback. She provided comments on my assignments about ideas that I may have overlooked, or would provide me with an alternative method that I could use in the future.
Overall, I had an amazing experience with this course, and feel confident in the skills that this 100-hour online course has taught me. I would gladly recommend this course to anyone else that is interested in teaching English as a second language.

I have to say that I was very impressed with the course. I was a bit skeptical at first because I’m a Ph.D. engineering graduate student and have never taken an online course before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I initially picked the 100 hr. ontesol course because I noticed that they included modules for grammar and phonology which many other online courses do not include. I’m glad that I got the chance to re-learn these English basics in preparation for teaching. The three modules were very thorough and interesting. The lesson planning portion of the methodology module was practical and I expect will be highly useful when I start teaching. My tutor got back to me with insightful feedback very quickly throughout the course and the admin were very responsive as well. Everything was well organized and I really have no complaints. I highly recommend ontesol if you’re serious about teaching English well.

OnTesol Review by Matthew, January 22, 2012

Even though I received my MA in English Linguistics, I still did not feel qualified enough to teach ESL when I was employed by a language academy here in the states. Therefore, I looked for an online TESOL certification program. After reading the reviews for OnTesol, I decided to go with them. I think overall the program was fine. It has been a few months since I completed the program and I do not remember much of what I did. What I found to be the most helpful though was the feedback I received from the instructor who was assigned to work with me. She was quick to respond to my emails and she provided me with very useful comments. If you need to get a 100-hour certificate, I think this program is a good choice. However, you will not actually learn until you are in the classroom.

OnTesol Review by Alex, January 30, 2012

I have had a great experience with OnTESOL’s 100-hour online program, and would definitely recommend OnTESOL to anyone looking for online TESOL certificate programs. When looking into online TESOL certificate courses, I found that there were a lot of options, and it was difficult to choose one. Upon seeing that OnTESOL’s certificate is one of the only (if not the only) certificates accredited by the UK Accreditation Council for TESOL Distance Education Courses. While that may not mean much to some, the fact that it was accredited at all made it stand out. So, I read the reviews on http://www.teflcoursereview.com/ and found a number of very positive reviews. I also specifics about the course, that it teaches and tests on grammar, phonology, and methodology, as well as teaching about general learning skills. Not only do they teach you about those things, they teach you how to teach and incorporate them into lessons.
Well, my long and arduous search for the best online course was worthwhile in the end, since I definitely made the right choice with OnTESOL. My tutor was very responsive, helpful, and positive. Also, the texts are generally very clear and practical, teaching you things you will actually use. The learning skills reminded me that learning itself is a skill, one that you can improve on. The sections on grammar and phonology were clear and informative. I have always had above-average knowledge of the English language and general linguistics, so I didn’t expect to learn much from those two sections. However, I was pleasantly surprised to learn all that I did in those two sections. As for the methodology course, they teach you how to make complete lessons plans that integrate the communicative method, showing you how to do it from the ground up. I have been teaching in different areas over the past few years, and still I learned all sorts of new and interesting things about teaching English as well as teaching in general. Along the way, my tutor, Danielle, was always there to answer any and all questions I had in regards to each section, explaining clearly and informatively, and responding in a timely manner.

With my experience in mind, I would definitely recommend this course and OnTESOL in general to anyone looking for the best online TESOL learning experience.
